Chapter 1: The Rain

Water would wash and seep through the now soft dirt on the road as Jay Ahluwalia paced down the sidewalk. He had originally intended to take a light stroll and eventually reach Bunkin Pastries, but he had taken a rather unfortunate detour.

"Crap," Jay said as he found himself within the confines of a forest, a light mist emitting off the trees as he walked.

The scent of Oak and Pine trees filled the air, just like a car freshener which was the only redeeming quality. The rain rolled off his own shoulders and hood, soaking them as he started sneezing a bit and shivering under the cold and soaking clothing he now sported. He knew he had to get out of here and back home, but he had left his phone home foolishly.

Jay would sniffle as he trudged forward and tried to take in his bearings further, looking all around for a bit. He could see worn-out fences, obviously made decades ago, that was covered in mold and marks of strain. The wooden fences were few, some toppled over and some upright, but at most it was 3 feet tall, leading to the 6-foot tall boy shaking his head in disappointment for design. Trees stood tall all around, vibrant green with remarkable signs of health as many varieties of plants and such grew all around.

Jay would roll his shoulder back in discomfort as he felt the water starting to going to his sweatpants, cringing at the feeling. He would finally shake his head and swivel on his heel as he approached the fence and hopped it.

"Damnit, I can't stand this anymore!" Jay said as he started walking faster, holding his elbow close and folding his arms, his teeth clattering against each other.

The soaked boy would now perk his head up as he heard it. A cry. It wasn't the sound of the bushes rustling as he walked, or the birds tweeting. It was a very desperate and loud cry, a cry for help. Jay would hesitate for a moment as he grew nervous. He knew whoever shouted obviously needed help, but he was scared for the unknown. The unknown of what was to come out of different situations was his greatest fear, but in his life, he had been taught a lot about being true to others and himself.

Thus the boy would face to where he had heard the sound and would start to dash in the direction, his elbows tucked in as he ran quickly and efficiently, before hearing another cry ensues, this one pained and more watered down than the one prior.

"I'm coming, wait, please!" He would yell forward desperately as he started going faster. He felt a connection to the individual now, he didn't want for them to suffer from his undoings. Jay would shake in fear as he finally approached the scene.

Jay would stop running as he saw them, a girl maybe 16 or 17, who had long, green hair traveling down her back as she laid there. Jay would now take in the entirety of the scene, realizing he had arrived in a clearing, the trees seeming to form a circle around the girl as he walked forward carefully and kneeled behind her.

"Are you okay!?" The boy said as he would shake her gently and then turn her so he could see her fully. A sharp gasp would be let out as Jay saw her features, relatively normal aside from her paste green skin. Many thoughts would swirl into the boy's head, but before he could fully register the fact that she wasn't normal, he saw it.

He could see from the corner of his eye a completely black figure, as he carefully and slowly turned his head, his jaw unhinged and his mouth opens in a mixture of shock and fear. Jay saw a completely black figure, that possessed the qualities a greyhound, except for the fact it was nearly double the size of a normal one which easily sized himself and it up. Before he could react, it would snarl and bare its fangs, pouncing right at him and the green girl.
