Chapter 2: Family of Red

When Aka came out from the room he saw a small figure running toward him in the luxurious hall way. The petite little man nearly stumble from his footing but luckily Aka was there to catch him.

"Did those humans bullied you again?" Aka inferred while holding the little man who is adorable as heck. He is like a porcelain doll, he has big eyes and has a cute attractive looks, he also has the red hair which is the only hair color that run into the clan genetics. But amongst all, Aka has the fieriest.

The adorable little man take a deep breath and replied

"No, they didn't and aren't you human as well?" Kayden, the little man replied innocently as he blinked his cute astonishing eyes. Since he is the youngest among the nine siblings, he is mostly the one whom the older siblings make fun with.

"What do you think?" Aka answered back not considering the fact that he is talking with a five year old child who doesn't do well in such type of conversation. Anyone who heard it would seriously gobs smack him.

As expected the poor child didn't know what to reply and just stare blankly at Aka

"I'm just kidding and don't look at me like as if I hid your mother" Aka consoled, this child has the tendency to cry at any moment and child cries is something he can't stand with.

"But isn't she your mother also?!" kayden bursts

'This isn't going to work ou't Aka thought as he remembered what just happened earlier

"Ok calm down boss, just why are you wondering alone here at the hallway?" Aka tried to change the topic to ease the awkward tension.

"I'm just here to inform you that Mom want to talk to you at the garden! But you are mean!" Kayden honestly argued

;why am I the bad guy here?' Aka silently said as he let go of the little man from his grasp

"Oh it's that so? Well thank you I'll help you later to bully the others in exchange with your great service ok? Now go back to your room" Aka said at the most reassuring tone he could to coax the child. He has never babysit any of his younger siblings since he is the eldest but because at a young age he started to train like a mad man and was mostly away at the manor, though, he never had any innate relationship with his other siblings he is still respected and he fit it in.

Kayden was obviously happy as he heard his brother promised and happily run away like as if he won the lottery.

"Don't slip!" Aka reminded knowing how large the house is, as he strode forward at the garden at the west side of the manor with his usual poker face.

When he arrived at the garden which is planted with various high priced gorgeous flowers and plants that was designed at the very beautiful way as possible, not afar he spotted a lovely woman inside the green house.

Upon opening the green house door which is also filled with plants but rather exotic, the woman whom is his mother signaled him to come over and sit down as she offered a tea with a sweet aroma.

"Why the green house at this weather?" Aka asked and take a sit as he was told but didn't bother to drink the tea.

"A misty morning doesn't signify a cloudy day, dear" Eve replied with her natural soft tone voice which match her lovely figure as well her delicate beauty that give elegance. She is already in her late 30's but she looks rather very young.

"We'll see about that" Aka implied

"Why aren't you drinking your tea? It's freshly brewed" his mother said when she noticed he isn't interested at all.

"Mom, how could you forget? I have a sweet tooth, I can't stand sweets" Aka answered back as he look at his mother innocently which actually doesn't suit his dashing daring look.

"Who are you taking me for? Just tell me that you don't want herbal drinks, you carnivore!" Eve said with amusement. She knew very well all her children and everyone of them doesn't want drinking herbal drinks especially if it was tasteless and the smell was strong. None of them also likes to eat vegetables without a meat on it. They are rather picky.

"You know me well alright.. so why did you call me here for? I'm not fond of tea parties" stated Aka, in this family his mother is the only person he can't afford to raise his voice or disrespect since he know the struggle she has been in this clan. Married woman in the clan has no rights but to remain in the house and do house works only. Men have the highest position here and including male children. Just thinking about a child having a higher position than his own mother is something Aka can't relate with. He actually supports his mother well but that's a secret to him only.

Eve sighed for a moment as her expression became serious and Aka was expecting it..

"Let's go to the main point. Your father just informed me earlier that you accepted to inherit the position, but is that what you really wanted?" she asked worriedly as her eyes is filled with concern and anxiety. She knew her self that once he became the head, all malicious eyes would fell into him as well as the remorseless liability in the clan. Every inch of them was callous.

"Even if I refuse, the outcome would be the same. I can't do nothing about it" he replied bluntly as his eyes wondered around the green house in avoidance with his mother gaze. But he is right, in the first place the position was arranged for him the moment he was born, that's why he got to take all the risk in becoming inhuman to fulfill the position main requirement. He lost his humanity then. Even around his biological family, he felt like a stranger. To become the head you need to be stronger than anyone else even if it means losing your humanity.

But there is no regret in it, sure it made him lost his self but he gain something else in return, but is it actually worth it? Yet, he can't feel reprisal against the clan, it's as if he is made for the role. That thought has always linger in his being.

"If only…" her mother could only utter those words weakly as she tried to stop the urge to cry. Even if she knew that this clan treated their own children as war items, it is a burden to her. Every one of her children is so precious to her and she just wanted the best for them, a normal life. But in the end she is just weak, unable to stand for her own children and it's a contrition she is unable to cease even if she died.

"If I knew, you are the strongest woman in this world. You give birth to us nine and you did your best to heed every one of us, and in my perspective that's far from enough" Aka tried consoling her though she is right. If the word 'if only' existed, then the situation wouldn't be like this, but that is too far from reality.

The only reason why Aka can't even complain why he has to be the sacrificial lamb in all of this is that he have the strong urge to live. For him, if he begins to die then he already quit his desires.

He isn't a saint to aid everyone in the clan to desist the oppressive system considering the fact that chaos dwells in the clan it self.

There might be a thoroughfare in all of this but its like karma cast an unending cycle.
