Chapter 17: Something wrong with her health

[Master, why pull that long face when everything is going fine?] The kitty-cub asked through the mind link as it noticed the unhappy mood of its master.

Da Xia was sitting outside in the courtyard under the shade as she worked on the Purple Spirit Grass that she had picked up from the mountains. She left the grass dry in the sun and now she was working on turning them into fine powder.

[What do you mean by everything is going fine? Can't you see that grinding these dried Purple Spirit Grass isn't easy? I've wasted more than an hour and so far only one portion out of ten is done. At this rate, I won't be able to finish this work before sunrise.] Da Xia replied as she stopped a bit to massage her hands which had turned red from all the work.

[What? Are you regretting your choice?] The kitty questioned in a teasing tone, totally unaware that it had just spoken out the exact thought that was swirling in its master's mind.

[When have I not regretted my decisions? From the very moment I ended up in this world, the one thing that I've been doing on a regular basis is regretting all the decisions that led me to live such a miserable life. At this rate, why don't we set 'regretting my decisions' as the second daily quest? At least, I'll be able to earn a few prowess points.] Da Xia suggested but only got a scoff in response from the kitty.

Da Xia was about to say something snarky to the kitty but stopped when she heard movements behind her. She was about to turn her head to look at the person but before she could do that, Li Wei was already sitting on his knees beside her.

She suddenly felt lost as no words seemed to leave her mouth even when she tried to speak. On the other hand, her eyes refused to move away from the handsome face of her husband. While Li Jun had milky skin, Li Wei's skin was tanned because of all the work that he had been doing in the fields for years but the tan made him look even more ethereal.

She noticed his hands moving and watched as he took hold of both of her hands before bringing them closer to his eyes to observe them. "Are you hurt?" he asked while looking up into her eyes.

Da Xia found herself hurriedly shaking her head in denial. She could not even feel her hands at the moment, let alone feel any pain.

"Go and rest, I will finish this work." Li Wei told her as he again glanced at her palms which were looking like a ripe tomato.

"But..." Da Xia finally found her voice to protest but ended up sealing her lips when she saw Li Wei raising one of his eyebrows as he looked at her with questioning eyes. Though he mostly treated her with warmth and care, she was no fool to ignore the fact that the man possessed a frightening aura that could make people shiver. He was just too sweet to use that side of his.

Nodding her head in understanding, she stood up and moved to sit nearby to observe him working. She watched as he settled down on the ground before he started working on the barely scraped spirit grasses.

Da Xia watched as, within a few minutes, Li Wei was already taking out another batch of the Spirit grass after finishing the previous one.

She sat there in silence as she observed her husband. His brows, his long black hair, his long lashes, and his thin lips. All of a sudden, she realized that her throat was dry and something inside her stomach was fluttering softly.

She got pulled out of her frenzy when Li Wei suddenly stopped and looked at her. She felt her heart stop beating for a second as the fear of getting caught while staring at him took over her. She bit down on her lower lip to stop herself from hurrying to defend herself.

She probably made the right decision because when he suddenly raised both of his hands in her direction, the words following his action had nothing to do with her ogling him.

"Can you fold them?" he requested while slightly shaking his hand to bring her attention to his sleeves that were probably causing him problems with his work.

Once again, Da Xia found herself nodding her head without uttering a single word as she stepped closer to her husband and started rolling up his sleeves. Her eyes didn't fail to notice the veins that were covering his arms. Her fingers twitched as she felt the sudden urge to feel those veins.

"Is something wrong, Xiaxia?"

"Huh...? Ah! Well... no! Nothing's wrong..." Da Xia hurriedly finished rolling up his sleeves and then stood up.

"I... I'm going to check on Jun'er." She didn't wait for him to reply before she turned around and fled toward the only bedroom to hide her flustered self. What was wrong with her? Was something wrong with her health?

"Where did you find this information from? It's not like you know anything about the geography of this world." Da Xia questioned the kitty as she took a quick look in the direction of where the two demon prince's bodies were resting inside the system.

It was the middle of the night and once again she was pulled inside the system's space as the kitty had found something of great importance.

"Don't look down upon me and the system. Just because we are not from this world doesn't mean that we know nothing about this place. And to answer your question, this information is provided by the Queen Bee. She and her family had been wandering around the Phoenix Peaks for almost a decade and they knew about all the secrets of the great mountain."

Da Xia looked in the direction of where all the bees were resting before she turned her attention back to the map that was flashing on the digital screen.

Looked like she was going to visit the Phoenix Peaks again!
