Chapter 1: The Mountain
How long have I been here?
Do I even know anymore? All that's there are the wind and the snow, the unending expanse before me. The sheer cliff behind me, why do I even try anymore?
Does it matter, maybe not but I need to keep going. I can't let their sacrifice be in vain, the camp should be soon. But it would be so much easier to just rest for a minute to take a break. I can continue after I catch my breath..... No! I can't stop yet, not after I've come so far. not while I'm so close!
I just need to keep going left right left right... the snow keeps building, my arms won't move anymore there stuck to me. My steps are taking longer and longer and they take me less and less distance each time. this might be the end for me.
I can see the fires of camp the warmth they represent but I don't think I can make it, I'm too far my eyes slowly close as light and voices get closer.
I might make it after all.
