Chapter 2: An Abrupt Bad Ending

AU: I have an inkling that this'll be the chapter that'll scare away most of my readers. The first half might be boring, but the latter half will surely pique your interest..since the Yandere finally makes an entrance there.

-----------------

It… it was rather hurtful. Shinji had never believed that he was a memorable person, but seeing someone you spent years of your childhood with not even look at you was more than cruel. The hefty feeling in his chest intensified, as he walked towards her; maybe he wanted to question her, or perhaps he just wanted to 'hi' and see if she might recognize him but realized that it had been too long. She probably forgot about him in a year or two after he left.

Shinji wouldn't be able to face her anyway. Such a fall from grace; indeed, it would disgust anyone. He shook his head, chugged down another bottle, and went up the stairs to his apartment. The ever-familiar skyline in the distance, twinkling like stars, looked beautiful but at the same time mocked him. Everyone was immersed in their own world and having fun, while Shinji was here, fawning over memories half a decade old.

The door opened, revealing the cheap and cramped apartment he bought in a fit of anger. He rushed into the bathroom, washed his face, and looked into the mirror for a few moments. His dark, glazed eyes that resembled dead fish and his more-than-average facial features were the same as before, yet why didn't Mizuki recognize him? He wasn't hoping for some romantic hug or a kiss or anything; he had never seen her in that way before. A simple hi or hello and he would've been satisfied but… things rarely happen like that, no?

Whatever. Shinji turned on the TV once more and tried to drown his sadness with entertainment.

"A heinous murder today rocked Sapporo city," said the grey-haired glass-wearing newsman, and continued after a short pause, "A man was found dead in a gutter, his entrails infested with rats. Once again, just like the other murder that took place a week ago in Tokyo, the symbol of a pigeon was smeared across a wall using blood. The police requests citizens to use caution when going outside during the night in Hokkaido and Tokyo, and to call the police whenever they see someone suspicious! "

The blurred images of the dead body, with dozens of relatives crying near, sent chills down Shinji's spine. The onlookers stood by in a crowd with horrified expressions, as if they saw something far more terrible than only mangled entrails.

Since a few weeks, strange murders have been happening all over Hokkaido and Tokyo. The murderer, or the gang that had caused all of this, left strange markings resembling pigeons as a sign of their involvement. Shinji prayed for them a little in his mind and turned off the TV when the newswoman was replaced by a man that went on to drone on about the weather.

A burst of cold, chilly air flushed into his flat as he shrank in the pale-white sofa. Just then, he noticed that his eyes were beginning to turn watery, as a result of his sleepiness.

"I need to sleep. Fuck my life, I've my first class tommorow...faculty of arts, creative writing... I've fallen so low that breaking another bone won't make matters worse. "

Shinji pondered for a moment about his future and went to sleep. In his sleep, he saw terrific dreams: one of them was so weird, he almost felt creeped out. It was a pigeon...

...

...

...

...

Shinji felt his mind start to ache when he saw the few buildings before him. A huge plaque was hung over the building in the middle, "Hokkaido Institute of Fine Arts". The name was rather familiar, as he remembered once looking up to the same institute and saying, "Damn, I want to study here."

Well, people really do change over time. The same amazing scenery of the university's avenues and its entrances were nothing more than a joke for him.

Shinji passed by a few similarly distraught, some happy, and some confused students and walked into the administration building and handed over his documents.

It took him a while, but he was finally in his class, a big room with numerous white wooden desks. The AC in the room blared like a machine, disturbing the few students in the class.

"God. I can't wait to see how much fun I'll have here..."

That was only supposed to be a sardonic remark; however, his expectations were bound to be betrayed...

"Psst, hey dude! Do you have a pencil?"

Suddenly, a guy hissed and tapped on his right shoulder. The man rapidly fixed his messy glasses and stared at Shinji with furrowed brows.

Shinji raised an eyebrow, and asked, "A pencil? Uh, sure. Just give it back before class ends."

"Ah yeah, sure sure. My name is Yuhara Miniji and," the guy said, as he leaned back and immediately began to scribble on a note. With an utterly peaceful atmosphere, he crumpled the note into a ball and tossed it towards a stout man sitting on the first bench, and continued, "I like men."

Towards such a terrific introduction, Shinji could do nothing but smirk. Yuhara chuckled, as he extended his firm, bony hands, and said with a smile, "Nice to meet you."

"I'm Shinji Keika. I'm...not as uh, confident or well, into men like you, so hello, Minji-san."

Yuhara chuckled and returned his gaze towards the front bench.

With a disgusted, and simply confused expression, the stout and loutish man looked back and stared at Shinji's desk. Yuhara then proceeded to throw a flying kiss towards the guy...

Shinji almost wanted to barf after seeing such a scene, but he needed to make friends first. Thus, he grabbed the giggling Yuhara's shoulder, and began to talk to him.

"Uh, Minji-san, are you a local here?"

"Shatter my a---...ah, I'm a local, yes. I live near the Pineview Cemetary!"

"That's...awfully close to my home. I've never seen you there, though."

For a few minutes, Shinji and Yuhara continued to chat. One was quiet, and friendless while the other was charismatic – their personalities formed a bright contrast. By the time the class began, they had already exchanged numbers and addresses.

Shinji felt quite weird, since he was befriending a person that swung both ways for the first time, but hell. Who cares? He focused on the bald, spectacle-wearing teacher and listened to his introduction.

"...I find beautiful language necessary but not sufficient in the arduous journey of a writer. The value of one's talent in writing can be measured in gold..."

Yuhara dozed off, while Shinji listened with attentive eyes. Most of the class was either focused on one thing or another; few carried studious habits like Shinji, even more so since the entire university was filled with academic rejects.

The clock ticked, on and on, and after a certain period of time had passed, the dha turned into afternoon. Shinji jotted down last of the lectures in his laptop, and exited the classroom.

Just as he had descended down the stairs, he bumped into a dark-haired, weirdo that was giggling like a retard.

"God, you fucking scared me. I just went for a short tour in the men's bathroom and you disappeared from the class. Let's go home together, bro!"

"Ok..." Shinji said as he gulped. Yuhara was getting scarier and scarier as time passed.

Together with the weirdo, Shinji walked through the avenue connecting the main building to the gate, and exited. Right then, at the corner of his vision, he saw someone he didn't expect to see.

"Minji-san, who...why the fuck is she here?!" Shinji almost yelled out loud, but he didn't care. At the very centre of the avenue, surrounded by chuckling girls, was Mizuki Aira. Her delicate face no longer had the cold sheen, it was now filled with charm and an ethereal smile.

The crimson dress she wore covered her rather curvy body, but it didn't help that she was cute too, despite her innocent atmosphere. The men near her were almost fawning over her.

"Who the hell is that? Mi amigo, you have history with her or something? Want me to patch stuff up? Hehe, I'm an expert in matters like these." Yuhara said with the most bland expression he could muster.

"Ah, it's nothing. It's just that she was recently on the news for topping the prefecture... I didn't expect that I'd see her here, out of all places." Shinji said, trying to hide the complex emotions visible in his very tone itself.

He was jealous.

"That's a pity. You sure she didn't do this because of her family or something?"

"I don't...know her personally."

The simple fact that she was here bore a hole through Shinji's reality. His mind was so jumbled he began to feel his eyes roll around in their sockets. Of course, he could've vented with Yuhara but he barely knew the guy.

Mizuki Aira's family...so far, he only remembered that she had a father. Why he would agree to let her attend some worthless university like this was questionable...

Just like yesterday, Mizuki coincidentally decided to stare at his general direction. The gaze that she had directed towards him made him bite his lips in anger. It was as if...she didn't know him.

"Let's just...go. Tell me about your family, Minji-san." Shinji sighed, and walked off from the area. Yuhara widened his eyes and ran after him, yelling, "Waaait!"

...

"Ow, watch it!!"

Shiniji applauded his immense 'good luck'. The very moment he began sprinting, he ran into a woman that had appeared before him from another converging road.

Shinji's lower lip had been stuck under his teeth, as a result of his rage. Thus; the momentum from the hit slit the middle of his lower lip, causing his jaw to immediately turn wet with blood.

"Ack, what the hell? Where did you come from?!" Shinji almost felt like punching the girl in front of him, but he refrained.

"A-ah, sorry. I-I was looking somewhere else. Sorry, again. "

The girl, her features hidden underneath a dust mask, bowed with a trembling figure. She seemed rather sorry after seeing his bloody chin. The only reason she was able to somehow, injure him this much was because she was tall.

"Its...okay."

"Here, wipe your face with this..."

The girl handed a facial tissue to the confused Shinji, and bowed once more. "Sorry, once again! I've got to go!!"

After a few moments, the girl sprinted away into the university. Yuhara, who had been looking at them from a few meters away, walked near Shinji with a creepy smile.

"He he he, what a dastardly fate you have! "

"Shut up..."

Shinji wiped his face with the tissue, and walked back to his house. The things that were happening all around him weren't normal...

...

...

...

...

...

...

A cool breeze blew into the packed apartment, as Shinji shivered. His fingers that were swiftly dancing on a back-lit keyboard paused, as he felt his lower lip suddenly throb in pain.

"Fucking hell, just kill me already. I can't even eat because of this cut..."

Shinji licked the cut on his lip, and sipped down on the bowl of soup he had cooked only moments ago. The taste wasn't bad, but he somehow felt even more retarded when he thought about how it came to this.

"DING DONG!"

"DING DONG!"

Like a blaring siren, the doorbell rang. As he was in the living room, which was directly in front of the door, he could hear the sound of someone flicking their fingers up and down on the doorbell switch.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Shinji yelled and ran to the door, and opened it with a curious expression. He swore to God that if it's another prank he'd lock the door forever.

Immediately, a fragrant and flowery draft assaulted his nose. Shinji's eyes widened, as he stared silently at the girl standing before him.

Mizuki Aira, once more. This time, her delicately adorned hair was all over her shoulders, while her eyes were empty and vapid; yet the smile she carried had intensified into something sinister!

"Hel...err!!"

With a bang, Mizuki walked inside and closed the wooden door, causing Shinji to step backwards. The girl's beautiful countenance effortlessly changed, as she jabbed towards his hands and locked them together with a single hand.

"I thought it was obvious that you wouldn't look at others except me. Maybe you've forgotten about it. I gave you so many chances to approach me; yet..."

"Aa!"

Shinji couldn't even utter a word, before Mizuki snapped both of his arms behind his back and pushed him into a wall. She snickered, and with a smirk, pushed herself onto his back. His face as a result slammed against the blue wall, causing him to let out a fearful whimper. The event that was taking place was too sudden and confusing for him!!

"You dared to use that girl's tissues, right? Hm!"

Mizuki rolled around Shinji with monstrous strength, and looked at him in the eyes for a few moments. His lips shivered, and his mind went blank.

"Wait, wait wait, stop. I-I!"

"Soft, without even a flake of skin. Perfect isn't enough to describe it—"

The girl wetted her lips, and forced herself onto Shinji even though, he tried his best to resist by flailing his head around. Her moist crimson lips entangled themselves with his, as she sucked on his lips and invaded his mouth with her tongue. Like a violent snake, hers coiled around his and sucked all of his fluids into her mouth.

"Umhhhggg?!!"

It wasn't the end, however. Mizuki grabbed both of his wrists with a single hand, and used the other to shove his jaw upwards. She pushed forward once again, with her bountiful chest smashing against his, and bit into his already wounded lower lip.

"Mshuuch—"

A massive, almost excruciating amount of pain assaulted Shinji as he tried to scream, but only muffled wet sounds of their kisses rang out. His legs jittered, as he felt blood gush forth from his lip.

"Salty; your entire body just ticks all of my boxes, you know? That's why I couldn't keep hiding myself when that sow dared to sully you...hehe."

Mizuki stepped back, her eyes cloudy with fervour and emotions tainted as if intoxicated. Her drooling tongue escaped from her mouth and wiped her bloodied lips, like chocolate was slathered over them instead of blood.

A small strand of vermilion drool connected their mouths, but the same view made a striking difference to each of them. Shinji grabbed both of his lips and fell down on the floor, his eyes vengefully staring at her.

"Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that I'd gone overboard. I'll patch you up, just be still and stay quiet, okay?"

As if she was a chef tasting her own cooking, Mizuki licked her bloodied index finger, and with a heave, carried him in his arms and walked to the bedroom.

"Good boys don't make noises, alright? Now, stay here while I find your first-aid kit. Hmhmhm!" Mizuki chuckled, as she let go of Shinji and dropped him on his bed. She hummed, and went to his bathroom, like she knew where the first aid kit was.

With a thud, Shinji fell on the bed. He winced, due to the immense pain and confusion. He regretted that he hadn't used the intercom before opening the door. Of course, she could've just answered and he'd open either way.

Shinji didn't know what to say and what to do. His skin got goose bumps, as he listened to the noise of her walking around the bathroom. The AC was on, even then he was sweating like a pig.

Was this...this what they call rape? Was he molested by his childhood friend?

Shinji's reality had blown itself, but somehow he still had the sense to recognize that Mizuki wasn't right in her head. Maybe she was drunk, but her violence scared him. Without even thinking, he pulled out his phone from a nearby drawer and...

"What're you doing, Shin? Trying to call the police? Are you sure you'll be able to face yourself after watching this person, that you've spent years with, go to jail like a rotten criminal?"

Mizuki's earlier shrill voice now had a soothing tone to it, as she sat beside him and opened a blue box. With a slightly grim expression, she looked towards Shinji, and cracked a smile, "Ah, it's my first time in your room. A boy's room...is this what it looks like?"

"Are...are you drunk?! Do you even understand what you did back then?" Shinji barked, out of his bewildered daze.

"Shh, I just showed you my love. Now calm down, Shin, calm down..."

"Calm down, my ass. I didn't think you'd tu—"

The expression on Mizuki's face rapidly changed, as she returned back to her feverish, demon-like appearence after seeing him pause.

Shinji coughed, as he felt a strange itch in the middle of his chest. Within moments, his vision blurred, and he collapsed into Mizuki's lap.

Mizuki giggled, and with a flick of a tongue, ejected a small capsule that was hidden underneath her tongue. It was one of the two pills she had hidden inside her mouth for this...event. Since one worked, she had no use for the other one.

The lithe hands of the maiden, something that one wouldn't believe had such strength, caressed Shinji's hair, while she smiled, sometimes sobbed, and laughed...
