Chapter 23: Chapter 21: The Beast
Roar!!!
A loud beastly roar echoed through out the entirety of the forest. Causing the creatures in the surrounding to flee in fear.
At first neither Aiden nor the team sent by The Dark Triad could tell were the sound emminated from. That was until...
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
The sound of heavy footsteps crushing the twigs and vines that filled the ground could be heard coming from south of there position.
There they saw a large shadow slowly approaching there position. Neither Aiden or the Thiry-sevens team could made out the creature. As the creature got closer to them it features started to come to light, it was a creature covered in dark brown fur that looked like thorns gleaming in the moonlight, it eyes were a deep blood red eminiting killing intent so strong even Aiden could feel It, the beasts sharp black claws dug into the ground as it walked and it's strong paws crushed everything it stepped on even rocks were not able to indure.
"Domic beast"
The creature that appeared was a Brown bear. It was known to be one of the most powerful and most vicious of the demonic beasts. They were so powerful it was said they could even hunt adult wyvens.
The wyvens scales may be less durable than other dragons but they are still not easy to penetrate. However a Brown bears claws are able to rip through them and reach the muscle that lies beneath with ease.
"A Brown bear", Thirty-seven thought as he gaze stayed fixed on the beast "Why is one here?" This type of demonic beast has never appeared here before so why now."
He pondered over the matter but could not come up with a single reason for this type of powerful demonic beast appearing in this area.
The base would regularly send out its guards to clear out any demonic beasts in the vicinity. There would rearlly be any beasts near the base and ones that usually appeared were not very powerful. The most powerful beast that has ever appeared was a mid rank demonic beast.
So when this beast appeared before him, he started to worry. When he saw the beast moving towards him and his team the worry he was feeling increased only further increased. Brown bears were aggressive creatures. He thought of ordering a retreat, he looked to his men and could see there fear. As much as he desired to retreat but it was simply not possible. Brown bears may be large creatures but they were by no means slow, they would not be able to outrun it.
"Take battle formation!" Thirty-seven lifted his weapon and shouted, "Insinuate Blue Rain tactic."
As his men were getting into their positions, he took out his rune inscribed notebook to inform his captain about the current situation and request for reinforcements.
However the demonic beast had other plans it stared at humans in the surroundings for a moment before turning its gaze to Thirty-seven and it's killing intent increased if only slightly.
The Brown bear charged toward Thirty-seven at alarming speeds as it growled. The beast lifted it's paw high into the sky and slammed it to the ground attempting to crush Thirty-seven.
He luckily dived to his right just before the beast paw landed however he was not as lucky as he believed. He rolled away aimed his rifle at the bears head and was about to fire when a numbing feeling started to spread from his back to the rest of his body. The rifle dropped to the ground and soon he followed suite, he found it impossible to move a single muscle.
"Whats... going....on?"
"Why.... cant....I move?"
His inistial shock pasted and he came to realise he was paralysed.
"But how?"
His focused on the beast in front of him, his eyes looked into the beast's, he could see a glimmer in the beasts eyes; an unfathomable amount of intelligence and wisdom could be seen in them.
Then it hit him " This creature is not a Brown bear."
The beast in question stared at the paralysed Thirty-seven for a brief moment before turning to gaze at the other humans dressed in black.

Micheal Fields rubbed his eyes and away from the papers on his deskThe man had short spiky black hair, a beard and slight bags under his eyes. He was a tall and robust man in his early fourties with dark brown hair go ing just a little gray near his temples and lively blue eyes. Normally his eyes held an indifferent look in them but today they were keenly lit with intelligence. He was going over the matters again to see if he missed something.
He had a talk with Doctor Gerald earlier about the escaped subject and got his file. He had read through it more than once but there was something bothering him. In his file it stated the subject was a young man named Sam Alderman the son of a mid rank merchant family with a few sales to his name. Besides the fact of him being a good sales man there didn't seem to be any other skills he had.
What troubled Fields so was the fact that the young man was able to use one of there weapon. The only people that knew how they worked were the Federations upper, the Triad and there partner's that assisted them during there creation process.
"So how did the son of a merchant figure out how to use it and seven of my men? hmmm.."
He pondered over the matter for a good while know but could not come up with anything.
He knew about the Titan drug but he found it hard to believe the drug gave him access to knowledge he should not have and even if one was to account for the situation with the weapon there was his knowledge of chemicals. The lab where Thirteen was killed did contain acid but it wasn't strong enough to eat thought his gear and flesh.
At this moment there was sudden knock on his office door.
