CHAPTER 2 - Phantoms
I went to my personal chambers and contemplated about what butler ye chen said. Apparently this continent was called as pole continent. yes, pole continent. This continent had 9 provinces with each divided into 3 regions. Each region had many clans and sects. The region where we lived was called marsh region named upon the strongest sect marsh sect. My clan was the major subsidary power of marsh sect almost toe to toe with them. I didnt understand why we were lackeys of them even being the power we held. ' I'll have to talk about this to beardy father'. Magnus then sat upon his king size bed and wondered about what ye chen said about phantoms.
Phantoms were or were not heriditary was no one knew . No phantoms could be passed down in blood except bloodline phantoms like phoenix or dragons or beings like them. Even with that, the phantoms passed down could only act as a protector. It cldnt do their bidding. Like the strongest clan in pole continent called 'Long clan' had a dragon as their clan protector. The Xia clan stood tall thousands of years were toe to toe with Long clan with Ice phoenix as their protector.
From what butler chen said about phantoms , they reflected what thier inner being looked like or the most power you needed. The desire could be anything. No phantoms could be artificially gained. The phantoms could be what they went through and what would they need the most. He then thought about his uncle chen who had a giant chess board as his phantom and some fellow clan members had sword or creatures like mountain lion or a wyevern. Magnus for the first time when reincarnated felt estacy , the pure estacy and longing for power. As far as he knew, he could get reincarnation powers maybe ? given he reincarnated? no. He sneered at himself for being too bold and brushed aside the thought of it. He thought about what will he do after this and felt as if he needed to know about his friends and ducky and maybe he could go back to earth? to whats left of it.
He sighed as he walked calmly towards his balcony and his eyes reflected 3 moons. He raised his hand as if he wanted to catch the moons and find answers to what happened. What secrets did this world held? It then struck him about the book he read about basics of magic and cldnt held himself from practising as he raised his hand and said "LUMOS" A blinding white light came out from 2 cms away from his finger and then the chambers returned to its stillness night. "ahhaah..HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA". Magnus laughed for a few seconds and instantly contemplated about it. There was no lumos spell in the basics of magic book. He remembered it from harry potter and tried doing it and oh boy was he surprised. ' so i need to train in these spells from harry potter until i turn 5 and father will train me for martial arts and knowledge , done, i have 2 years to master all spells from harry potter chantlessly.' Magnus then thought about the 3 unforgivable curses which cldnt be performed wandlessly (crutius curse- CRUCIO for torture, imperius curse - IMPERIO for controlling the victim best if victim cant do occlumency . And the killing curse- AVADA KEDAVRA). Magnus resolved himself for learning all the curses he remembered and ofcourse occlumency and legilimency on tops. Magnus went back to his bed laid onto it with his hands folded on the back of his head, his eyes seemed to squint and then calmed down.
The basics of magic book told about the reader that every spell can be owned or given away. It means every spell is dear to the one who knows it. Now he understood why his father forced him to read and understand various languages as it could help learning spells. He then wryly smiled when recalled every elemental basic magic could be done in this world chantlessly with only their basic forms . Fire could be called upon only when thinking of it and willing for it to appear. No aguamenti spell was needed to be chant for water to appear like in harry potter.
Magnus remembered that there was rankings to phantoms and he recalled it
tier 1 phantoms - non magic life forms , non magic tools etctier 2 phantoms - magic tools like sword with its properties enhanced , magical beings like werewolf, vampire , giants etctier 3 phantoms - magical beings like phoenix , dragons , tao tie beast and other life forms.tier 4 phantoms (legendary tier) - anything which can evolve. evolvable phantoms which had only once appeared in pole continent.tier 5 phantoms - law phantoms. phantoms which ruled over laws. fire , water , chaos , life , death etc. Magnus remembered asking butler chen about this "uncle chen if laws are tier 5 doesnt that makes phoenix and dragons law phantoms already?" to which uncle chen replied and his eyes shined "No. Good question. while some believe this but the actual thing is , a phoenix can also die through fire. Just fire which is leagues above a phoenix. Understood?" Magnus dazed and then nodded.
Magnus quivered with the excitement for his 7th birthday and unknowingly dozed off.
