Chapter 59: Pet

Treasca sat frozen the Shade leered at her. His eyes roaming her body making her shiver. A thought occurred to her, Brenton said she was able to make anything from nature from nothing. She turned back to the fire thinking. Furs would be heavenly right then, and if she made them herself she wouldn't even have to worry about hurting anything. Concentrating hard on dark black furs she formed a gown in her minds eye. Willing it to be as she had before she sat like that several minutes, before the gentle soft warmth covered her. She now even wore fur lined leather boots. Clapping made her whirl back to the Shade who looked pleased.

"You where testing me." She said anger bubbling up in her voice.

"I knew you would get there eventually." He said rising to his feet. He offered her a hand up. She ignored it standing on her own. He just gave her a superior grin, like she was an amusing child. She realized with a start that he reminded her of Brenton, at least in some of their personality flaws.

"I will refrain from pushing you further for now. This is lovely by the way, it suits you." The Shade said brushing the fur along her collar bone. His finger slid just inside the top of the bodice grazing the top of her breasts. Treasca tried to push away again, but he jerked her around to face him. His lips pressed hers so very light compared to his nearly bruising hold on her.

"You are going to be an amazing mate." He breathed into her mouth. He took her by the hand, and lead her down the long hall of windows until they reached the far end. Once at the heavy ornately carved door he let her go, and opened it for her bowing as he swept low in a graceful gesture. Inside a large dinning hall was laden with enough food for at least twenty people. She froze looking around to see if anyone else was in there, but she saw nothing.

"Are you expecting guests?" She asked turning to look at the tall man.

"No, You my lovely have my full attention." He said moving past her toward the table. "I wasn't sure what you like to eat, so I guessed buffet style would be best." He handed her a plate, but did not take one himself.

"Aren't you going to join me?" She asked trying to ignore his intense stare.

"No, I no longer desire food." He said squashed a grape between his thumb and forefinger.

"Do you have a name?" Treasca asked putting some fruit onto her plate. He looked up at the ceiling as if trying to remember it. He looked back at her eyes blazing with some emotion she couldn't recognize.

"I was called Ladon once upon a time." He said returning to mutilating grapes. "You need to eat more than that. Magic can be very demanding on the body. You will need to replace the energy you used or you could weaken and die." He squashed another grape eyes not leaving hers.

"Can you stop that?" She asked wincing as he crushed another. He shrugged using a napkin to dry his hand. He grabbed a plate loading it with meat and vegetables.

"Here, this will help you more." He said leading her to a smaller table against a wall. She sat across from him eating without looking at him. Everything tasted amazing, and she hadn't realized just how famished she was. A question occurred to her suddenly, and she looked up at Ladon. He was staring up at the ceiling again twirling a fork in his fingers. Treasca noticed he tended to have to keep in motion at all times.

"Why did you kill all of those people?" She asked quietly afraid of angering him. His eyes snapped to her without moving his head. The fork froze between its fingers. He looked back up not saying anything. Treasca thought for a few minutes he wasn't going to answer, then he sat up straight then leaned towards her across the table.

"Thalon was fighting for control. We are together in this body he and I. He is just one of many of my prey, but he is much stronger than the others. You could say he won a few minutes of freedom, and had a bit of a temper tantrum. I finally regained control, but by then the damage had been done." Ladon leaned back again humming an errie song twirling the fork again. Treasca wanted to ask about Delyn's brother, but Ladon had unnerved her. Appetite gone she drank the wine in small sips.

"Are you done then?" Ladon asked voice bored.

"I am, thank you." Treasca said getting to her feet.

"Oh aren't we polite. I like that." He said voice husky. Treasca walked past him not sure where she was going exactly, but not wanting to be touched by him. He grabbed her hand hard enough to make her yelp in suprise and pain. He loosened his grip, but kept a firm grip on her hand. He brushed his lips against her hand, and lead her back to the room they had been in before. He sat in the rooms only chair then swung her down into his lap. Treasca tried to get up, but he held her there. He stroked the fur gown with gentle hands like she was a lapdog he was found of.

"You know I think I will be keeping you near me from now on. This is the most at peace I have felt in a long time." He sighed with pleasure burying his nose in her hair. His breath brushed her neck making her tremble. His hand brushed her breast making her squirm in his lap. He took her earlobe into his mouth nibbling it.

"Yes, I like you a lot." He growled she shuddered.
