Chapter 26: Let's Live Together
Lu Chenjun laughed as he pulled her into his arms, "Who said I was going to break up with you?"
Elena froze for a second before quickly pushing herself out of his embrace. She looked at him in shock.
"What do you mean? Then what did you want to discuss with me?"
Lu Chenjun gestured to Elena's chair as he walked to his own. Elena eyed him suspiciously as she slowly sat back down.
"Miss Jin Yinghui, it is not wise to make assumptions." Lu Chenjun said with a half-smile.
Elena was extremely confused, but she made one thing clear. "Call me Elena."
Lu Chenjun ignored her statement and kept talking. "I'm not breaking up with you right now, and I don't plan on breaking up with you anytime soon."
Lu Chenjun opened his mouth to keep talking but Elena interrupted him, "What do you mean? It's been two weeks already. Stick to the contract, Mr. Lu. Let's break up now."
The corners of Lu Chenjun's mouth turned down into a frown as he leaned back in his chair.
"I don't remember the contract ever saying that we have to break up in two weeks. However, the contract did say that I am the only person that could request to break up."
Elena thought for a moment. He was correct. The information of Lu Chenjun breaking up with everyone after two weeks had been engraved into her mind by Mila. She had thought that it was a rule.
Her eyes flickered up at him, "Well. . . I don't care. Then what do you want?"
Elena suddenly looked up in fear. Was this talk possibly about 70,000 yuan? Did he want it back suddenly? Her hand quivered as she reached for her glass of water.
Lu Chenjun smiled and said, "Let's live together."
Elena's eyes widened as she spat the water out. Lu Chenjun was leaning on the table and the water splashed onto his face. He stopped smiling as he closed his eyes.
Elena immediately stood up in shock and grabbed a napkin.
"I'm so sorry," she said as she wiped his face.
Lu Chenjun snatched the napkin away from her and wiped his face himself. When he opened his eyes, his whole face had turned dark.
Elena looked down and cleared her throat.
"I said let's live together, not I will kill you."
Elena put her hands on the table, and said bluntly, "No."
Lu Chenjun's face turned even darker. "What do you mean no?"
Elena looked at him in bewilderment, "I have my limits, Mr. Lu. You are a smart man. I trust that you know why I agreed to date you. I am not going to live with you."
Elena stood up to leave, but immediately sat back down when Lu Chenjun slammed both hands on the table.
"Let me make this clear. Jin Yinghui, I am not making this a choice. I am telling you that we are going to live together. Understand?"
Elena was getting mad, "No. I don't understand."
She crossed her legs and arms together and looked to the side.
Lu Chenjun took deep breaths to calm himself as he tried to come up with a way to get Jin Yinghui to agree.
He raised one eyebrow as he said calmly, "I don't think you know something. All of my previous girlfriends lived with me. I was being nice to you, and didn't request that from you when you first became my girlfriend. But now I am changing my mind. Follow the rules, Miss Jin Yinghui."
Elena eyed him suspiciously. She didn't really believe what he was saying.
"Really. Did all of your previous girlfriends live with you?"
Lu Chenjun hesitated for a moment, before nodding. As the most powerful businessman in the Jin province, he had experience in lying.
Elena thought about this for a moment before saying, "So. That doesn't mean I have to follow the crowd. I am living perfectly fine with Mila."
Lu Chenjun pressed both hands on the table, "You are not living perfectly fine with Mila. Wouldn't you prefer to be able to live in a larger space? Wouldn't Mila like it better? Don't just think about yourself. Think about Mila too. She would love to be able to live in the apartment by herself. If you move to live with me, I will pay all of the apartment rent for Mila."
Elena raised her eyebrows. This didn't seem like a bad deal.
She quickly wiped that thought from her head, and firmly shook her head.
"No. Don't even think about it. Who do you think I am? I'm definitely not going to agree to live with some random guy."
Lu Chenjun's hands clenched into a fist, and Elena shrunk into her seat.
"Random guy?"
Elena knew that she couldn't lose her confidence.
"Yes. You know what, I don't care anymore. It's been two weeks. Let's break up."
Elena grabbed her bag and prepared to leave again.
"If you break the contract, you will have to pay me 10 million yuan."
Elena's mouth fell open, "10 million yuan? That was not on the contract. Stop scaring me."
Lu Chenjun laughed. "Do you think it matters whether it was on the contract or not? It doesn't. I can add it onto the contract now. The LIQuan Company has the strongest lawyer team in all of China. If we were to bring this to court, who do you think would win? I could even make it 100 million yuan, and you would have to pay me that much."
Elena was at a loss for words. She had always thought that Lu Chenjun was a little overbearing, but was a good person. Now she knew that she was wrong. He was a terrible person. Before she could argue back, Lu Chenjun stood up abruptly.
"I will give you one day to come up with a decision. Come find me tomorrow in my office with lunch you made yourself. You have two choices. One, you come live with me. Two, you don't come and you pay me 100 million yuan."
Elena widened her eyes. It was 10 million yuan just a minute ago!
Lu Chenjun walked away quickly, leaving Elena alone in the restaurant.
Elena bit her lips and cursed Lu Chenjun in her head.
'I am so stupid. I should have never agreed to date him."
Lu Chenjun entered his car and angrily threw his phone across the backseat. He stared at the phone for a second, and picked it up again.
He put the phone up to his ear. Five rings later, he said, "Grandpa Li. Do you have time to talk right now?"
"Yes. Did you ask her to live together? How was it?"
Lu Chenjun got mad just by mentioning this. "It didn't go well. She said no, and even wanted to break up with me."
Grandpa Li laughed, "Wow. I really want to meet this lady. Her willpower is very strong. I had no idea that there even is a woman in the Jin Province that doesn't want to live with you. What are you going to do now?"
Lu Chenjun cleared his throat before saying, "I lied to her. I told her that all my previous girlfriends lived with me and if she didn't live with me, she would have to pay me 10 million yuan."
Grandpa Li sighed before saying, "You really have no dating experience, do you? How did you even get Miss Chu Hua to like you?"
Lu Chenjun froze. Time really does fly. So many years have passed since she left.
Grandpa Li took a deep breath before saying, "I'm sorry for bringing that up. What is her name?"
Lu Chenjun's voice was cold when he replied, "Jin Yinghui."
Grandpa Li coughed once, "I don't think Yinghui will be able to pay you 10 million yuan. My guess is that she will agree to live with you."
Grandpa Li paused for a moment before asking, "Chenjun, do you love her?"
There was a moment of silence on the phone.
"No."
