Chapter 1: Ch 1 : The Encounter
The weather is very nice when our flight touch down at Beijing Daxing International Airport. I excitedly watching the sea of the blooming spring's flowers from the window as the plane descended lower and lower and finally move slowly towards the terminal. This is my first time in Beijing. Every time I only hear about Beijing from my friend, Lilian who was born and raise in Beijing. I did fall in love with Beijing only from Lilian's story. Finally, I am here!
Once I stepped out from the arrival gate, I saw Lilian waving frantically at me. She looks funny that way. She giggles when I finally stand in front of her. It is been 3 years we did not see each other. The last time we met was at our university's convocation.
"Ai, welcome to my city, Beijing!!" Lilian hugged me.
"Thanks. Long time no see, Lili." I patted her back.
"Yeah! Don't waste time. Let's go!" Lilian pulled one of my luggages with her.
Lilian drive carefully while asking me about my current life and sometime cracked a joke that make the two of us burst into laughters. She asked me to come with her to the temple because she need to run an errand for her mother at the temple. I quickly agree since it is an opportunity for me to explore a little about Beijing.
At the temple, Lilian is busy help cleaning the temple's main praying hall. When I wanted to help too, she refused. So, she asked me to look around by myself and warned me to not wandered outside the temple's area. I strolled around while taking photos of the temple's landscapes before I came across the temple of the Goddess I used to pray to at my hometown. I stopped by and prayed for a while.
When I am walking at the pavilion, suddenly a strong gust of wind blows around me. At that time I catch a glance of a man walking pass by me, his walks blend with the swirling flowers' petals. I notice a smile curled up on the corner of his lips. When I look at his direction, that man was gone, left only the falling flowers dropping to the ground.
I stand there in dazed. "Am I imagining things?"
