Chapter 2: Chapter 1
"Beep!...Beep!...Beep!", as Jiang Chen's phone alarm goes off. He took a glimpse of his phone and tried to snooze the alarm.
"Heyo J.C, you gonna be late for class man! You better wake your lazy ass up!", his roommate, Adam shouted.
As Jiang Chen is trying to resist his sleepiness, Adam has already dressed up nicely with his combed black hair and light blue formal shirt with a black tie getting ready to leave.
"Come on, I'll save you a seat so you better be there in time man", said Adam as he turns blurry speeding off.
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry", Jiang Chen replied sleepily.
Jiang Chen and Adam are roommates and classmates at Oriental Medical University in Korea. They just met each other two years ago but their relationship is just as great as best friends.
Jiang Chen is from a small family in Singapore and he made his way up into the university without relying on his family's wealth. Even though his father is willing to pay for his education, he insisted on making it out there on his own because he didn't want to feel indebted to his father and he wanted to save the money as well for his little sister's future. He got accepted into the university with a full scholarship and even included accommodation. He didn't have to worry about money anymore but occasionally he still takes on some part-time jobs to get some extra pocket money.
Adam is a Malaysian and is the only child in his family. Adam's family goes beyond wealthy and to the extent of what people called 'filthy-rich', and it goes without saying that he grew up with a golden spoon. Although he is playful and mischievous at times, Adam was never raised as a spoilt brat and instead, he grew up in a rather stern family. He developed his superspeed ability when he was seven years old and since then he has become quite a prankster.
The two of them hit it off and has been helping each other since then. They would always form a study group together, discuss life and share their dreams. Even though Jiang Chen has yet to develop his abilities, Adam would always cheer him up saying there's still another year left.
Jiang Chen splashed some water on his face to get rid of his sleepiness and buttoned his shirt hurriedly. After picking up his bag, he immediately took off to class.
Oriental Medical University is located in Seoul and is established for the purpose of researching special abilities. It has made its name globally after their contribution to the research of special abilities from the biological and medical aspect.
"8.05 a.m.... Alright, not too late", Jiang Chen thought to himself as he sped through the faculty entrance and darting towards the lecture hall. Jiang Chen immediately spotted the empty seat right next to Adam on the left side of the hall. Luckily, the lecturer, Professor Kang has just entered the hall as well.
"Wow, good timing! I'm impressed, J.C.. Maybe luck is your superpower!", exclaimed Adam as he laughs.
"Alright class, good morning. Let us begin on our lecture today. The white blood cells consist of a few types...."

"That's all for today, thank you", said Prof. Kang as he shuts off the projector.
"So what's the plan for tonight, JC? You wanna join me for a double date tonight?", asked Adam as they are leaving the hall.
"Meh. I'd rather spend my time better elsewhere", replied Jiang Chen.
Since young, Jiang Chen has never cared much for relationships, be it familial or romance. Although he cares for his parents and his little sister, he always thinks that it's his duty as a son and brother in the family. He would much prefer to be alone, that's why he took off to Korea to study. And he does not see the point of being in a relationship either, being shackled by responsibilities is not what he wanted.
"Come on, pretty pleaseeee. My date is bringing her friend tonight and I need someone to be my wingman. I promise I owe you one if you help me tonight", begged Adam.
"Alright alright! I'll do it! Happy now? Jiang Chen agreed as he knows how persistent Adam can be when he wanted something.
"Thanks mate, hehehe who knows you might find your beloved tonight", Adam teased.
"Aha, then the sun shall rise from the west", replied Jiang Chen.
"Falling in love? Getting married? Have kids and die of old age? Why the hell would I want that? I'd rather spend my life in medical research and do something worthwhile in this world before I die.", Jiang Chen thought to himself. He has vowed to himself that he would dedicate his life to his work, be it as a doctor or a researcher. He aims to leave a mark in history just like the greats such as DaVinci, Einstein, Tesla. He knows he may not be as smart and talented as them, but he is willing to use hard work and determination to compensate for it.

At night, the capital of Korea seems even livelier with its bustling nightlife and restaurants. Jiang Chen and Adam had just finished their dinner with their date and they are heading to a bar.
"Are you girls okay with soju?", asked Adam.
"Yeah, of course!", answered So Min, Adam's date.
"Waiter! Two bottles of soju please!" Adam calls out to the waiter.
"Wait! I'd like a whiskey please, on the rocks!" Jiang Chen adds on.
"Wow, so you are a whiskey guy huh?", asked Seo Yi with a smile, Jiang Chen's date.
"Yeah, I still couldn't get used to the taste of soju even after two years in Korea", Jiang Chen replied sheepishly.
"Well, maybe I could help you with that", answered Seo Yi with a wink. She downed a cup of soju before Jiang Chen could reply and handed him another cup, hinting him to take it.
As much as he dislikes it, he hates to be the party pooper. He took the cup and gulped in as quick as possible. He exhaled slowly as he feels the burn travelling slowly from his throat to his stomach.
Two hours later, Jiang Chen is ready to call it a night as he starts to feel the aftermath. "Remind me not to mix whiskey and soju again", Jiang Chen makes a mental note to himself.
After they foot the bill, Adam suggested that they take a walk to sober up before going back.
It is a chilly night and the streets of Seoul is illuminated by a mixture of street lamps and lights from nearby bars and restaurants. Adam and Jiang Chen can be seen huddled up with their respective date for warmth and stability. Even though they did not say anything, they both knew the soju has started to takes it tolls on them. They shuffled slowly along the street.
In a dark corner of the street behind the group, three men observed them tentatively while having a smoke. As Jiang Chen and his group are about to turn into another street, the three men followed quietly, waiting for the right time.
