Chapter 6: The Intrusion

I stood at a distance from their 'gates'. Their so-called gates had some trees with guards by it. They didn't look very big or powerful, along with having no weapons. I thought of that as an odd sight. I walked up to the guards, they looked surprised. Had they not seen me?

"Excuse me, sir what are you doing here?" The first wolf asked.

I stared at him. His fur coloration was a beautiful white with brown splotches, and he looked young. It's too bad he'd be dead in a moment. He'd look at me confused and sense I had a lack of response he questioned me again.

"Sir? Did the Alpha request your presence?"

I sighed as I let my demons out and they immediately knew what to do.

The demons are smart indeed I thought. In a moment's notice both wolves were dead. I wondered how long it would take for the both of them to appear with my demons? As I finished that thought they appeared alongside me. I noticed they looked almost exactly like the dead wolves. I walked through the entrance as they followed behind me, or I guess you could say they almost floated.

Their pack was a bit smaller than the Waterford pack. A few of the wolves noticed me walking in and didn't recognize me. Then they noticed the demons behind me. They seemed to be getting nervous. Without wasting any time, I ordered the demons to attack the nearest wolves.

The demons were acting feral, ripping wolves to shreds. As they finished wolf after wolf the others started fleeing into the forest. The new ones would appear and chase them down. I walked around to admire the dead wolves.

Suddenly I heard the sound of pups crying out. I tracked them down to a small underground cave. They were surrounded by dry moss and ferns. I wondered what would happen if I killed them? Would I get more demons or smaller ones? I decided I wasn't yet cold enough to kill them.

I got only two of the unoccupied demons to help me carry them back to camp. The rest tracked down the remaining wolves from the no longer existent Evergreen pack. If I used more than two demons would Lycidas know?

I walked back into the Waterford campsite with the pups. I put a saddened look on my face. A lot of wolves noticed and came rushing to see what was the matter.

The pups cried out weakly. "I found them abandoned in the forest, near the river." I'd say in dismay, eyes to the ground.

Wolves whispered and muttered with concerned looks. The demons went to my sides and gently lowered their heads towards the ground near the crowd, setting the pups down. The nursery wolves picked up the pups and headed towards the nursery.

The crowd followed. I headed towards my den, making sure to keep the sorrowful face. When I got there my bed was still made, like every other time. I'd lie down with a yawn.
