Chapter 3: What happened to Banafrit
Soon after I left the temple, I have passed out. Little did I known at the same time Banafrit did the same thing. This part is her story.
When I awoke from my slumber, I was in darkness. Off to the distance I could see a river full of flowers and a figure.
"Come child, you are Banafrit...correct?" Said the figure with an demanding voice I dare not ignore.
"Y...Yes, I am. Where am I? What has happened to me? A...am I dead?" I asked fearfully as I was afraid to hear the answers to my questions. It extended its arm and motion it for me to come closer. Not knowing what would happened I cautiously move closer to the figure. As I got closer to her, I could tell she was not human. For some reason I could also tell she would not harm me.
"Banafrit fear not I'm not here to harm you. Your questions will be answer in due time. But for now let me explained what has happened to you and to your love Lucian." The creature said and my fears instantly disappeared.
"My name is Kebechet daughter of Anubis. My father asked me to meet with you here. He will be here shortly but for now I need you to listen." She said, I could tell she is serious and wasn't lying.
"I will hear you out but why am I here?" I repeated, while trying not to push my luck against a daughter of a god.
"You are here because you where cursed. A human man named Meri have cursed you and Lucian. He was so jealous of you two and his unacquainted love for you. The curse is very powerful and only way to reverse it if one of you take on both curses." Kebechet said and I couldn't believe it. Meri was in love with me? I was so confused because I only thought of him of a friend and never knew that he thought of me like that.
"How was he able to put such a curse on Lucian and myself?" Asking without thinking. After asking Kebechet was surprised as if I didn't know how. She went into a deep thought. It was as if she was debating if she should tell me or wait till her father arrive.
Just then a bright light flashed before my eyes and a huge gate appeared in front of us. Anubis came through and I instantly dropped to my knees and lowered my head nearly slamming my head on the ground.
"Please Banafrit standup and rise your head. For such a loyal follower of the gods, you have earned the right to look upon us." Anubis said with a soft and kind voice. So I did what he had asked.
"Lucian had took a deal that affected you both till which such a time it is fulfilled. I am sorry for what has happened to you both but what I am about to tell you will sock you. But I will explained in deeper detail of everything." With that statement my fears had returned and grew.
"Please tell me what has happened and why." My throat felt dry and my voice sounded weak.
"Lucian became a escort for the dead souls, and you two will not be able reunite until he finds a replacement. He took both curses upon himself so you could live on and be together in the future. Meri was behind this curse with the help Sekhmet the goddess of fire and vengeance. Are you ok?" He asked me when he gazed upon my face and could see the dread in my face.
"I'm sorry but with all this information how am I suppose to return to the realm of the living and act as if nothing has happened? How am I suppose to look at Meri and know he was behind this? What will happened to Lucian as the years go by?" I ramble on as my nerves couldn't handle all the stress.
"All of your concerns are very valid but need not to worry. For in but a few moments you will return to the living and your memories of this will be gone. I only did this because when the time comes you will remember everything and also know that Meri will be punished for his actions. As well Lucian asked me to give you a message.' Wait for me.' After a period of time, you will be reunited with Lucian and be with him for the rest of time." With such words I calmed down and smile and said 'thank you' to the gods. Anubis pointed towards the gate he came through and motioned me to go through it.
"Go through the gate and you will return to the living and live your life the way you meant to live. Good bye oh faithful servant of the gods. Till we meet again."
"Good bye my lords and thank you for what you have done for me." I step through the gate crying like a newborn. For the knowledge I have gained was too much to handle. After a few steps I saw a bright flash of light and I awoke in my room. My father and mother were standing next to me. To their surprise they hugged me tightly and tears down there faces. Anubis was correct about my memories being gone.
As the years gone by I have cried many times about Lucian and never found another love to spend the rest of my life with. So I became a full fledge priestess to the gods. Meri was later found out about his hand in the murdering of Lucian and was soon after beheaded.
But with all this, only two good things gave me a light of hope. Their names were Nephthys and Ammon. At the time I didn't know I was with children in me but it gave me the need to live on. I have always said it was the last gift Lucian gave me.
