Chapter 63: Lonely Lunch
"That's the Coordinator..."
"Why is he walking with someone from the baron family?"
"Sh, he'll hear you,"
In the hall, numerous students are whispering about me walking with my new friends. Obviously Renn, Regan, Julian, and Luna are uncomfortable. But they tried to feel relaxed since they're with me.
Those ill glares are not aimed at me, but to my friends.
Therefore, I glared at them back. Some of them flinched and looked away.
"Ezra- oops, I mean, Your Grace," Renn stuttered. "Are you sure this is a good idea?" He whispered.
"Just call me Ezra," I grinned at him. "And I don't see what's wrong with walking with my friends,"
"..." Julian and Regan glanced at each other.
Luna smiled sweetly at me. "Your Highness is very kind,"
"Please, call me Ezra,"
"E-Ezra," Luna muttered. "... It felt like I just committed a sin from addressing a royal informally,"
"That's what I felt too," Regan whispered. Julian chuckled.
"Same here,"
"I don't! But If I address Ezra informally Julian and Regan would've hit me on the head," Renn pouted.
"It's reflex," Julian said.
"Pfft," I snorted. Luna giggled at Julian's remarks.
This is what I wanted in my school life. Just having a fun conversation with my new friends, that's all.
The scene of me chatting with the others turned out to be a big thing for the students.
But the gossip is completely disoriented.
It was me who offered to be friends with them, but the gossip stated that "Students from a Baron, and Viscount family shamefully approaching the young master Ezra Conover,"
They didn't mention Renn. Because he's from a Marquis family. They're aiming for the ones with lower status.
I heard this during lunchtime.
A while ago when the second class ended, Renn needed to go to the bathroom. Julian, Regan, and I walked to the cafeteria. I saw a very awful sight.
The cafeteria was divided regarding the student's rank.
I can't even eat lunch with my friends?
It's not a school rule that the cafeteria was divided, it was the students who created it. It's always been like this for generations.
And while I'm eating lunch alone with my private sofa and table, I heard the gossips from the table across from mine. Renn was on the table, and I can tell that he's furious.
I couldn't see Julian nor Regan, they're far on the other side of the tables. The smaller ones, cramped.
I feel restless about eating this delicious food alone, sitting on this comfortable sofa alone. I wanted to know how my friends are doing.
So I've decided...
"Lilith,"
Once I mentioned her name, Lilith appeared beside me. She lowered her shoulder as low as she can. Thankfully she's in her invisible mode.
"Yes, young master,"
"Check on my friends Regan, Julian, Renn, and Luna. And report to me afterward,"
"Certainly," Lilith nodded before disappeared into thin air.
I took a sip on my tea while my eyes wandered elsewhere, waiting for Lilith's report.
