Chapter 5: The Quest (2)

As Alex clicked onto the missions tab the first thing he read was a mission under life quests.

-----------------------------------------------

Life Quests:

[The Player has a unique life quest that is under a time limit]

The player is now an infected

[If the player fails this mission than their very existence shall be erased off the cosmos while their soul shall be given to Hell for eternal torture]

Good Luck!

-----------------------------------------------

Looking at this Alex did not know what to think. He was just given a task to basically end or enslave everything in the known universe.

'What the Hell is this!? I just died and was about to go to heaven but now I am stuck here with the quest that will eventually lead to my death!'

Alex wanted to yell out loud but he felt that he should draw more attention to himself in this quaint village. Plus deep down he knew there was no way he could escape his fate that was not thrown to him. Switching to the rewards tab Alex still sees that he can pick and choose from two of the given items to get that item.

-----------------------------------------------

The system has decided to give the player an item due to the fact that certain complications that occurred.

Pick two of the five items listed below

Exp Donuts

Survival Guide

Quest Refresh Card

Class Card

Loaded Handgun (Rare grade)

-----------------------------------------------

These options seemed a bit weird especially since there were no descriptions that were given to explain those things a bit more in detail. From what Alex could see is that the handgun was the best option for him to go with since he knew what it was. He was tempted to just pick the gun but decided against it as it would be stupid of him to just pick something now when he had no idea what everything did for him.

'Ding'

"The user wishes to learn the systems Item and Skill Checking feature"

"Huh?"

"The price for this system feature is 1 system point"

"Um... how many system points do I have?"

"1"

"Then yes I would like to purchase the checking skill"

'Ding'

"The user has purchased the Universal Item and Skill Checking skill feature and will take 4 hours to install"

'Well at least I can sleep and when I wake up it will be available to use' Alex thinks as he lies down on the straw mat and soon is lulled to sleep.

Alex never really had dreams it was just darkness that he perceived while sleeping but now it was different. The darkness was still there but now there was something there in his dreams with him. It was a being that Alex could barely perceive in this darkness that surrounded him. Alex could see a faint silhouette of a body some distance away. This puzzled Alex greatly as this felt less like a dream and more like he was still awake but in his mind (I get that when you sleep you can still move in your dreams but most of the time you do not realize it is a dream until waking up).

Alex tried to move towards the figure but found that no matter how hard he moved towards the figure he could not get any closer. Eventually giving up Alex just drifts around this mind space that he has. Soon enough Alex wakes up back on the straw mat in the hut and now a sore back. Opening the flap of the hut Alex sees that the sun is barely beginning to peek above the multicolored tree tops so seeing this Alex knows that he may have a bit of time before someone calls him for breakfast.

Sitting back down on the mat Alex opens up this system to see if the checking ability is now downloaded. As he opens the system Alex goes to pick a prize that he received from something happening. As he opens up the stuff he can choose Alex sees that there is now a small bit of text now accompanying the items.

-----------------------------------------------

The system has decided to give the player an item due to the fact that certain complications that occurred.

Pick two of the five items listed below

Exp Donuts- The player gains a random amount of exp between 25 and 200 through the consumption of one of the dozen donuts

Survival Guide- Learn all the skills related to survival upon completion of reading the book

Quest Refresh Card- Can be used to refresh the requirements to complete a class upgrade, improve skill quest, and race upgrade

Class Card- The player can gain a starting class booklet to learn any of the classes of a specific grade (Common: 45%, Uncommon: 25%, Rare: 12%, Ultra-rare: 10%, Epic: 8.98%, Legendary: 0.019%, Godly: 0.001%)

Loaded Handgun (Rare grade)- A rare grade handgun with 18 bullets already in the magazine (25 damage per bullet)

-----------------------------------------------

Looking now at the information about each of the items Alex can finally understand what these things do. Seeing as how now he can choose with a bit better clarity so Alex ponders a bit on what he should choose. Eventually, Alex decided on the items he wanted and soon they appeared in his hand. One was a pink box that could be opened easily and the other item was a plastic card. Alex ultimately decided to pick the Exp Donuts and the Class card from the system.

The reason he chose the donuts is that Alex did not have any exp so it would be beneficial if he used these to get free exp since he knew no way of doing so in this new world. As for the Class Card, he chose this because when Alex played many video games through his youth classes were a must-have and prerequisite in games. Seeing as how Alex had no idea of how to get classes somehow and that the system was giving this away to him he felt that he might as well pick this and get something worthwhile.

Not waiting any further Alex opens up the donut box and sees a dozen powdered sugar donuts staring right at him. Putting the box down and popping a donut into his mouth Alex does not feel anything different or weird going on inside his body as he eats the powdered goodness.

'Ding'

-----------------------------------------------

Alex has received 184 exp

Alex has leveled up!

All base stats have increased by 1 point (Str, End, Cha, and Int)

Alex has gained 2 stat points

-----------------------------------------------

Seeing the small string of notifications Alex cannot help but feel happy, he leveled up from eating a donut how crazy was that! If he had a whole planet full of these things then there would be no need for him to go out and do stuff all he would have to do is just lounge around eating donuts every day and he would become stronger. Sadly though Alex knew deep down that this was not the case as these donuts were produced using some unknown method that Alex could only hope to replicate so in order for him to gain more of these things he might have to complete quests or do something else to get them.

Putting aside the donuts Alex looked at the plastic Class Card in his hand. There was no defining feature or marking of this thing but if someone did not have the system Alex would not be seeing the option to hit a spin button. Seeing that is all that the card would do Alex hits the word spin and soon a carnival-style wheel showed up in front of Alex and began to spin. Seeing the wheel spin Alex was able to see that the wheel had seven different places where the pointer could land on each with varying sizes that probably were related to what the system said was the class rarity section.

Eventually, the wheel began to gradually slow down to the point where Alex was hoping that it would land on something good as he could see the different class rarities clearly and only guess where it would land. Eventually, the pointer stops on the rare class option. Alex just shrugs his shoulder and sees a new button that says choose which he reached out to touch. As he does press the button he gets a shock-like one would get when they rub their feet on a carpet with socks on and touches metal or someone else.

His hand jolts away as that startled him and as he does the wheel moves again for some reason. This time it does not spin it just moves a few spaces to the left and it stops on the Godly part. Seeing this Alex is very confused about why this was happening.

'Ding'

The player is now allowed to choose a class from the godly classes that are best for the player's life quest

-----------------------------------------------

Shadowknight (Compatibility: 45%)- A knight that uses the power of dark elements to boost their combat capabilities and reanimate fallen foes to serve them

Jack-of-all-Trades(Compatibility: 10%)- A class that is an all-rounder of weapons and equipment that have to do with war and a great tactician

Dragoon(Compatibility: 26%)- A heavy lancer type class that can use their own power to split most things with a heavy charge

Chaos Necromancer(Compatibility: 89%)- A necromancer who uses the chaotic elements in the universe to create monsters and other horrors that can evolve and grow over time.

Chaos Summoner(Compatibility: 85%)- A summoner who summons chaotic beings from the beyond to do tasks for the summoner if they sign the contract

H.I.V.E.(Compatibility: 99.99%)- Description not available

-----------------------------------------------

"System what is compatibility?"

[Compatibility is the compatibility between the player's life quest and the given classes, the higher the compatibility the easier it is to complete said life mission]

"Why is there no description of the HIVE class?"

[The H.I.V.E. class is a new class so there is no available information at this time as the brief description of classes come from other players using the class, the H.I.V.E. class has not yet been used by any player at this time]

Seeing this Alex is intrigued at what this class is since it is new, has high compatibility, and does not look inherently evil. Going off of what the system told him Alex chooses the H.I.V.E. class as he wants to at least try to complete this life quest that he got. After receiving the prompt to confirm the choice of the H.I.V.E. class.

Clicking confirm Alex does not feel any different than before even after a few minutes but then he starts to feel really hot. Not hot in looks cause he already is ahead in that department I mean hot burning flesh off hot. Pain begins to shot throughout Alex's mind and body as it feels like he has been thrown onto the surface of the sun as his body burns up. Soon the burning pain recedes from his body eventually and now Alex was lying on the floor sweating buckets into a small puddle on the floor.

-----------------------------------------------

The Player has now chosen the class H.I.V.E.

Int +15

End +12

Str and Cha +10

Mys +5

The Player has gained new skills

-----------------------------------------------

Opening the system player status after getting out of the puddle of sweat and leaning on the wall of the hut Alex looks at his new info

[Mana is the power level on the players status window]

'How do I increase my mana?'

[To increase mana/power the player must increase the Mysticism stat for more mana to increase the amount of infected that the player can control Intelligence needs to be increased]

"Well I know what I am going to be doing," Alex says

"What are you going to be doing?"
