Chapter 9: I will survive!
" Shut up and let mom talk!" Her elder sister said.
When Apple calmed down, her mom told her about the news good and said.
" The doctor told me that I'm 2 months pregnant.."
" Whoa!!!! Pregnant? Is that even possible? I thought you could no longer have a baby because of your health problems." Apple said in disbelief.
" I couldn't believe it either so we had another test and the result was the same... Your good old mama is pregnant and because of my age, this is going to be a difficult pregnancy so I need your full support and understanding. She said.
" Did you tell dad about it?" Apple asked.
" Yes... he was so happy but I knew that he was worried as well. I mean... we're broke and a new baby is coming? But he was trying to hide his fears.. That's why I needed to talk to all of you." Her mom explained.
" Your dad is in bad shape right now. His close friends let him down, his associates through him under the rug and the people he once trusted had turned his back on him. This baby means a new hope and new beginning for him... And for all of us but we have to face reality.
The second semester of this school year will be coming soon. Your sister Blueberry is on full scholarship because she's a star player on their varsity team... But you're not...
Your tuition fee is so expensive and we can no longer afford it... Your dad will never ask you this but I need to do this for his behalf... It's either you help him pay for your own school or you transfer to a new one with less expenses." Her mom said.
There was a deafening silence for about a minute or two...
" I'm so sorry dear... I hope you can forgive us for letting you down like this." Her mom added.
Apple finally came to her senses and painfully smiled at her mother...
" Dad has been very generous to all of us from day one... And I'm happy to know that we will be having a new baby... Please don't worry about me mom... I can manage. I understand that you need to save all the little money that we still have for the little one inside your tummy and I will not be a burden anymore. I will earn my own money from now on and I will help with the household bills..." She replied.
Her mother hugged her and her sisters. They all cried except from Apple.
She was done mourning for her self and all the things that she lost... It is the time for survival now...
Survival of the fittest... or survival of the fakest in her case...
