My previous suspicions have been confirmed by Goto's statement. Erana still kept her mouth shut tightly. Her eyes, while still filled with hatred, also carried a twinge of sympathy.
Goto lowered his gaze to the floor. His fingers were intertwined as he held his hands forward.
"When I found out that they were all dead I… Well, I gave up." He muttered. "I didn't know what to do. It was like some cruel joke the universe had played on me. 'Haha! We're going to give you a terrible life, give you a second chance, and then rob you of all the good in your second chance!'"
He clenched his hands together, forming a ball.
"I didn't know what to do…" He whispered. The defeat in his voice echoed throughout the room.
Goto looked up towards us.
The fundamental battle between ideals. Goto is more of a nihilist while Kenji is more optimistic and believes in the future. I can't exactly blame Goto for being a doomer though. Go through all he has and come out peachy on the other side. It's nearly impossible.
Catch you on the flip side!
