Chapter 23: Ch 23 lights and tattoos
After Kalameet conceded I walked over to it. When I was next to it I could see just how bad the wound really was.
Where there used to be intimidating black scales and powerful muscles, now there was a veritable river of blood and bits. The exposed parts of bones were cracked and fractured, this along with what was left of Kalameet's scales had formed makeshift shrapnel. These sharp fragments had lodged themselves into the bleeding flesh around the impact area. All of this ment Vyr had to take the pieces out before healing the wound. Else they would lodge inside and cause problems with movement along with a large amount of pain. Of course they could just be pushed out when she began the healing but Vyr didn't want to take the chance.
*\Artorias POV/*
I stood and watched as Vyr began pulling pieces from the dragons wound. She didn't look away from the mangled flesh as she said " your gonna have to bear with me. I don't want to risk healing you and these pieces staying inside you. It's gonna hurt but I'm sure you can handle i-" she stopped quickly and waved a hand. When she did a large bucket appeared, she picked it up and began pouring it on the wound and making the dragon drink some as well.
(Vyr)"hear this will sting a bit nut it should make you numb to the pain."
As she healed the dragon I tried to recount what I had just seen in my head. Yet I couldn't puzzle out how it had happened.
I turned to Ciaran, she had always been the smartest of the two of us and asked "what just happened?"
"i - I- I don't know?she was talking and then there was a dragon. She shouted at it and it landed. They talked then she shot it? It was so loud and fast I couldn't even react. God what horror is that? You know what? i'm done."
"Done? With what?"
"Her making weird things happen! I refuse to be surprised anymore. I thought about it before but now I'm saying it out loud. I'm done being surprised at everything she does."
Before i could respond Vyr shouted out "damn! I guess I'll have to try harder then, Ciaran!
As she began laughing I tried to comfort the frustrated Lord's blade by saying ' ignore her. I doubt there is anything more shocking she can show."
This caused Vyr to begin laughing even harder only to calming down when Kalameet huffed at her when her hand slipped. Looking at her I could only think "gods. What new adventure have you sent me on? I thought my greeted adventure would be exploring the abyss. Yet my gut tells me my adventure has just begun.'
*\Vyr POV/*
As i pulled out the last piece of shrapnel i said " ok the next part is the easy part. The downside is it will probably be painful, mabey. "I pulled out my estus flask with the philosopher's stone in it and poured half over the wound and the other into Kalameets mouth. Then began the fascinating yet still nasty show of healing.
As I was waiting for the healing to finish, I looked over the quest rewards I had gotten from beating manus..

This along with other minor notifications showed across the system screen. I also had a backlog of messages from my sister. As I looked through them I could tell she was worried so I quickly sent her a message that I would visit before going back to remnant but I couldn't stay long.She quickly messaged back she was waiting for me.
Looking through the rewards once more I asked the system 'what's up with the new quest? It doesn't have an objective. Also I assume redacted is the person who sent the first quest, yes?'
(System)<Quest {in due time} has not been implemented yet. It will activate at a later date. [Redacted]'s information is classified. I cannot answer any question about [Redacted]>
'Great, I literally got nothing useful from this quest. the least they could do is give something fun like a yo yo that shoots lasers. Whatever time to go home.'
I was about to close the system when a present icon showed on screen. I opened it and there was a message from Ash.
(Ash)<i know its no lazer yoyo but here is a gift from me for the quest. It is the first ability I shaped from the Abyss. It lets you mark other beings (as long as they agree to be marked) and when doing so they become a part of your own personal legion. Your own "Abyss Watchers" so to speak. When they do so they get a few benefits besides a cool tattoo. The biggest benefit for them is it boosts their potential along with a few tailor made boosts for them. The reason you want to do this is, you can call marked people to come and fight with you. They can go back after the fight and if someone already responds to the mark they get notified if more help is needed and who already responded before them. There is a few other neat things it can do but i left them to you to figure out since i know you like surprises and exploration.>
I sent her a quick thankyou before closing the message. When I did I could feel something change in my body. It felt like little pins were poking my skin beneath my armor. Sadly the feeling quickly got worse as the little pin feeling became what i could only describe as being bitten by a wolf made of acid. I could feel channels of energy being made in realtime. When it finally died down it was replaced by a comfortable cool feeling. Like the channels had cold water flowing through them.
As Kalameet's healing was finishing I walked over to Artorias, Ciaran, and Sif. I laid down on top of sif. The new power had taken its toll on my mind making me oddly unmotivated.
'If i knew it was going to feel like that i would have done that later. Urgh, now i just want to go home. I mean I wanted to before but now I want to even more. God, I must be tired if i'm talking to myself in my own head. Fuck it i need a snow cone.'
I summoned up a snow cone and calmed the protective sif down, as Kalameet stood up and tested out his shoulder. As he looked to us, Artorias and Ciaran looked at me for help.
Looking up at the black dragon I said "So do you honor our deal or should we go again?"
"No, I shall honor our agreement. I will be the guardian of your land. What is your second demand for me?"
I thought over it a bit then said " to be honest i don't really have a second demand. I mean i can find something for you to do but if you want to come with me for a bit that'd be awesome."
"Come with you? Am i not already doing so?"
"I mean yeah, but i like to take trips away from my land. Right now I was in the middle of a trip when I came here on a quest. So when i say i want you to come with me i mean to hang around till the end of my trip."
"Hrmm. would that not inconvenience you? I doubt most humans would react like you do to me."
"Yeah but I have magic and a few other things I could give you to make it work. Speaking of which hey you two, how do you feel about magic tattoos?"
Ciaran was stone faced as Kalameet turned to look at them but Artorias seemed to be able to talk still.
Artorias stuttered a bit before taking a moment to steel himself and replying " I don't mind them too much but why do you ask?"
I couldn't help but grin at the pair, "I got this ability to mark those I want with a special tattoo. It does a few things. Like me being able to call for your help in case i need it."
Ciaran seemed to have conquered her nerves but still didn't look away from Kalameet as she asked "like a soapstone?"
"Yeah kinda. Do either of you want one?" Before they could answer Sif started trying to get my attention. When i looked at him his eyes seemed to ask "what about me? I want one!
I laughed a bit and said "sure buddy. You can get one too."
This seemed to please the wolf as he gave a happy bark before going back to eyeing Kalameet.
(artorias)*Chuckle*"if Sif is ok with it then it must be fine. Sure ill take you up on your offer."
*sigh*"since these two are ok with it i might as well join in as well. I already agreed to follow you after all." Ciaran said with a small smile.
Kalameet seemed to ponder a bit more before asking "will it be Fun?"
"Definitely!" i shouted out with my smile growing larger.
Kalameet nodded before saying "then i as well, shall take this mark and follow you."
I jumped up and said "cool. Then let's start. I can't wait! But first, big guy you gotta take this."
I took out the reward from the dragon subjugation bonus, the human form one. As I held it in my hand I examined it closer. It was more or less an apple sized crystal ball. The crystal was clear and in the center was a small human body made of white faint light.
Kalameet looked at the ball curiously and asked "what is this?"
"This is something special. Here I think you just eat it?" I said while tossing it up to his mouth.
He caught it and rolled it a bit in his mouth before hesitantly biting down on it. When he did he began glowing with a black and gold light. We waited a bit but the light didn't die down. After around five more minutes of waiting I decided to just move on.
I turned to Ciaran and said "while that's happening roll up your sleeve."
After she did I clasped her forearm in my hand. I smiled at her and said "Good now to see how this works!"
She tried to take her arm back but i held on tight and channeled energy through the new pathways like the instructions while she shouted "what do you mean see?! You haven't done this before?!"
"Nope" was all that i was able to say as dark lines of magic spread from my hand to her exposed forearm. Ciaran started to tug harder and harder as the lines drew near her, meanwhile I was laughing harder and harder watching the emotions play out across her face.
When the lines finally started crawling from my hand to her's she started cursing till she realized I had already let go. We watched as the lines moved up her arm till it formed a black dot on her forearm.
She opened her mouth to speak but the black dot started moving again. It moved up her arm to just before her shoulder and made a band of twisting and curling lines that circled around her upper arm. In the center of where the lines met there was a picture of what looked like her swords crossed over one another. The entire thing was black in color except for the blades, they were a replica of what they were in real life.
As Ciaran was examining her new addition Vyr rushed artorias before he could back out. She grabbed hold of his arm and said "don't worry i'll be quick about it!" whilst laughing maniacally.
"No no! Get off, we don't know what that will do! Let me go!"
"Aww. don't be a baby! Look at Ciaran, she's still alive" Vyr said while thinking 'for now at least. If it hurts them as much as getting the damn thing did me. She might just go into shock.'
She finally got Artorias's gauntlet off and started the process when she saw sif start trying to slink away.
"Oh no you dont! You wanted this, remember? You wouldn't want to be left out, would you?" she said as she shot a grapple from her free arm around the wolf's leg. She quickly let go of artorias's arm when the black dot formed. She had to do a running tackle on the big wolf as he had realized he couldn't bite through the chain and was looking at his leg with a strange apologetic gaze. When she had wrestled the wolf to the ground she quickly wrapped her arms around Sif's neck and started the process with him as well.
This time the dot formed on Sif's forehead then split up across his entire body. When it stopped it seemed to seep into sif's skin. The big wolf started glowing softly before his hair started changing color. When the light died down his originally gray fur had become a soft silver/white. Oddly this was the only change as there was no tattoo.
Vyr kept hugging the fluffy wolf as she asked "hey, what did your tattoo turn out like Artorias?"
He looked over with a very angry face saying " you mean the one you forced on me? The one that you held me down for? That one?"
Vyr looked at him with a large satisfied grin as she snuggled a little further into Sif's now silver fur and said "Yep" while popping the p.
Artorias fumed a bit before sighing and saying with a sad smile " i though you said you'd stop with this horseplay?"
" never said i'd stop. I said I would try and slow down."
"Where is the slow!" he yelled getting worked up again.
"It's somewhere around here. Now what does the mark look like?"
He sighed once more before showing her the tattoo. It was on his forearm. It too had a a band circling it but this time it acted like a border instead. The band was on the top and bottom of a picture of a wolf with a sword facing a knight with a moon as the backdrop that went the whole way around his forearm. The picture was in color, the wolf was obviously sif and the knight was Artorias in his old armor. What was weird though, was the sif in the picture was Silver/white like what the tattoo did to sif. But that happened after Artorias's tattoo started forming already.
'I guess its some bullshit magic crap. Fuck it i could probably find a reason but who gives a damn.' Vyr thought, looking at the tattoo. She sat up, motioned for Ciaran to come over and asked "so i already told Ciaran what i want you two to do so ask her later. For now i need to know if you want to hang around to see what happens to the big glowy boi or should i just sent you off first."
Ciaran was the first to speak and said " you talked about how we would be on our own for a time. How much exactly?"
Artorias looked at Ciaran curiously before looking to Vyr as well. Vyr thought for a bit before saying "it should be anywhere from a month to a year. I should reunite with you by then. Oh and i told you i would leave you a guide right? Ill make sure its there by the time you arrive."
As artorias looked more and more confused Ciaran replied "good I want to know before hand though, is there anything we should look out for though?"
"Not really no. where I want you to go is probably safer than Anor londo, more or less. You only really have to keep to yourself and don't run around too much. It will be explained to you when you arrive so you'll be fine.
Ciaran nodded and said "then i would like to start as soon as possible then. You said it would take some time to blend in. So I want to start soon, though the thought of something new is interesting. Will you be keeping Sif by the way?"
THis made Artorias look up VERY quickly. Vyr shook her head and said "not for now sadly. It will take some time for you to settle in so i want you to hang on to him instead for now. Plus i dont think Artorias would let me. For now at least."
Vyr stood up and waved her hand creating a portal to where she wanted the two to go. While she was at it she specified to the System the conditions and settings she wanted to establish for the world. This cost her most of the points she earned from the quest but it was worth it in her opinion. She said goodbye to her friends and companions as they walked warily through the portal with her fluffy doggo in tow.
After they were gone she sighed before signaling Valkira to portal her and Kalameet to wherever she was. As she began to glow Vyr though 'I wonder if things will be different this time? Last time it was a weird Basketball Gym and I couldn't even see her face. I wonder if shorty was just shy." After she thought of this something hit her in the head, even though she couldn't see anything besides a weird tie dye of colors.

AlucardVonHellsing This hade to be the worst chapter for me to write ever. everytime i sat down to write i would either have to do something, or get distracted by something else. i normally write a chapter in one to three sessions. But noooo this one took like twelve to twenty f*cking tries till i just gave up and tried to tie it off. im not proud of this chapter but i just want to be past it already. so im sorry if it is bad and spacey. For gods sakes i didnt even proof read the abomination.
Either way i look forward to being done with it.(still dont know why it was that hard to write the dang thing) i hope you enjoy and dont hate on me too bad for the rushed mess.
