Chapter 3: Level Up

[Level Up!]

The skeleton felt a surge of energy from the last notification, and the pain in his head subsided to the point where it was barely noticeable. The skeleton felt smarter, and his will was stronger. "Me stronger now!" he thought to himself. He was now able to formulate words in his mind, although it was a bit broken.

The skeleton was excited, desperate to test out his newfound intelligence. He looked around the room, searching for something he could do to make those squiggly lines come back, but before he could do that, he needed to get rid of the big blue box. "How thingy go away?" he wondered. He tried to shoo it away like he did with the other boxes, but this one just didn't want to disappear.

"Maybe say "status" again?". He formulated the word "Status" in his stingy, and the Big blue box disappeared. "Stingy nice". Then he looked around and saw that the same skeletons wandered around the same area. He saw one of the skeletons holding a rusted sword walk into a wall, which reminded him that there was one somewhere on the ground. He went on his knees and began searching for the weapon. He thought that it was quite weird that he was the only one doing all of this, and that the other skeletons did nothing but stand still or wander aimlessly.

He found the broken rusted sword next to the skeleton that he tripped on, still on the ground. He tried to help the skeleton back up, but when he did, it fell back again. He decided to leave the skeleton alone and went to pick up the broken sword. It wasn't broken beyond repair, part of the blade had broken off do it was still usable, but by no means effective. The skeleton didn't know what to do with the sword or what it was for, so for now he just decided to keep it with him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile deep in the dungeon, a certain Bogghart was singing a song of his own.

"Tasty rabbits, yummy rabbits, I wants to eat them allllll. Tasty rabbits, yummy rabbits, I want to see them fallllll." The Bogghart was ripping the fur off two white rabbits with his rotten teeth, and munching on their meat as he walked further into the dungeon. "Rabbits fur warm, make great hat for Thrak. Thrak smart and strong, need hat to look more handsome, heuheuheu." As he was walking down the steps to his lair, a notification popped up Infront of him.

[Attention Intruders detected at the entrance the Dungeon "The Depths".]

"Graaaakkkkkk!!!!" screamed Thrak in anger. He hated when Intruders came to steal his loot, especially the ones who carried sticks with weird rocks on top. "Smelly pinky flesh want to come into my place, take MY precious, and run away!!! why they not tasty?then I eat them so they no come back!" The Bogghart went back up to where the Dungeon core was, and immediately spoke into it. "Bones kill pinky flesh!"

[Issuing command to Skeletons "Protect the Dungeon and kill all Intruders."]

"Stupid rock, pinky flesh! not "introoda"".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the skeleton picked up the sword, a very powerful mental force struck him, causing him to flail around and lose control of his own body.

[Issued Command "Protect the Dungeon and kill all intruders."]

The force pulled on his will, hammering down blow after blow, slowly taking what little control over his body. "P-pain, A-aagghh, go away".

[Due to high WILL stat, you are resisting the command of the Dungeon Master]

[Issued Command "Protect the Dungeon and kill all intruders."]

[Due to high WILL stat, you are resisting the command of the Dungeon Master]

The command was echoing and repeating in his mind continuously, renewing the force behind the pull on his will, yet despite his resistance, in the end all was futile.

[Issued Command "Protect the Dungeon and kill all intruders."]

[Command overwhelmed resistance. Control over body lost. Entity will remain in a dormant state until Command is overridden or removed]

The skeleton blanked out, and fell on the ground. Then he stood up groggily, holding the broken sword, and began to move towards the entrance of the dungeon along with the other skeletons.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did you bring your staff Jo?" said a voice. "We might need it for what's inside the Dungeon, I heard it was a Mid-Low level one, so there might be some Mid-level monsters we need to deal with."

"Of course I brought my baby with me, I never lose sight of it" said another person. "Is Jenny here yet or do we need to call one of the boys?"

"I'm here, just got distracted by something." This voice was petite, quite feminine, while the others were significantly deeper and rougher.

The man who spoke first, known as William, wore chainmail armour, a long with leather boots and a leather belt which held a large sword. On his left hand he carried a water jug, while his right was carrying a shield. He had green eyes and dirty blonde hair, kept untidy with the occasional few hairs hanging below eye level.

"Whatever, let's just finish this Dungeon, I don't want the others to find out that we ran this Dungeon by ourselves", said William.

"Jenny, who's the master of this Dungeon?" said Jonathan. He wanted to know all the details of this Dungeon before exploring, so that perhaps these details could give him a clue on the nature of the Dungeon.

Jonathan had black hair neatly combed back, and a pair of dark brown eyes, so dark he would be mistaken for having black eyes. Unlike William, Jonathan wore full leather clothes which provided less armour, but allowed for greater maneuverability. He had 2 long daggers on his side, a small pouch containing a few lockpicks and trap dismantlers, along with a few potions.

"According to the Guild's Appraisal, it says here that the Master of "The Depths" is known as "Thrak the Great". said Jenny.

Jenny was the only female in this trio. She had hazel eyes, along with long brown hair which was tied into a bun. She wore a long brown robe which had intricate designs of roses overlapping each other. she had a pouch that contained potions, a small bag of food, and carried a long staff with a white orb on the top. The only melee weapon she carried was s small knife in the back pocket of her trousers.

"Thrak sounds pretty weird, could it be a goblin?" said William. "And the name of the Dungeon, "The Depths", I mean seriously? what kind of bland name is that?"

"That's probably one of the randomly generated names. When the Master of a Dungeon doesn't know how or couldn't be bothered to properly name it, the Dungeon automatically generates a random name." expressed Jonathan. "Most of them sound really bad anyways, I wonder who thought of those names."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Motherf- those names are pretty good you know, clearly these humans have no taste".

"Sorry mate, but I'm gonna have to agree with the Mortals on this one."

"Well I guess those lot won't be getting a blessing from me any time soon."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I don't think it's a Goblin, they're too weak to run any Dungeons, unless it's one of the further evolutions. Highly unlikely by the way. Let's just go in, we've already wasted enough time."

The three humans walked slowly and cautiously into the Dungeon. Despite it being Low tier, it was still Mid level, meaning that it was still possible for something to surprise them. As they ventured on further, they found a spiraling staircase leading further underground. They walked even slower, with Jonathan taking the lead, checking for any traps.

"I'll check for traps while you guys go and check the perimeter."

"I fucking hate Dungeons that go down, the lower you go the darker it gets, and then rats start crawling on the ground and the walls." said William.

"If you're not happy about it then just leave, Jonathan and I will do it ourselves" said Jenny.

"Are you mad? You wouldn't last a second without me here, you'd be struggling to barely stay alive" shouted William.

"I'll take the chances" said Jonathan, and both him and Jenny snickered.

"You better watch out for those traps Jo, you might fall into one if you keep messing around with me. You mess with me you get bad luck."

"We'll there's no traps here, which is pretty weird for a Mid-level Dungeon, but I guess we got lucky. Remind me to annoy you more frequently, I think we get lucky when that happens."
