Chapter 1: The Loop
[ A/N - This story is kinda the 'reboot' of The High Human novel I wrote previously. This story doesn't take place in the past like before, but will have many flashbacks to the MC's history. Also this will be AU as the MC has changed the past. ]

Reborn again and again....
I can only vaguely remember my first life now.....how long has it been?
Definitely centuries at the least, my mind has begun to fatigue at the endless cycle, loss after loss.
I wonder what my name will be this time?
Will I ever be able to return my loved ones to me?
While on the topic of reminiscing, that 'god' that put me in this world really had it out for me...
Granting me wishes only to make it in the most contrived way possible.

I wished to be immortal.
How does he interpret it? Through an endless cycle of reincarnation, the number of lives I have lived is already in the double digits.
Unfortunately that 'god' did not grant me plot armor as I have died prematurely a multitude of times. Either by the machinations of a jealous witch or my own pursuit of vengeance against the gods.
My second wish, The Gate of Babylon that was wielded by Gilgamesh in Fate.
What does he do? He gives me an empty version of Unlimited Blade Works. Yes, an EMPTY version. It had no Noble Phantasms in it. It had no swords in it. It had nothing. Well, except for two things inside.....which could count as compensation.
Too bad I can't use it, that bastard.
My third wish, was a peak human body that had one of those form changes that would show up in different animes.
Still, haven't been able to use it because, I don't know how the fuck to activate it. It probably would have saved my ass a multitude of times but, no. I can't use it.
I didn't even know what world I was in until my what, third life? I thought that I was reborn at seemingly random points in time but I soon figured out that it wasn't the case the first few cycles.
I'm always born chronologically at important parts in history, like the rise of a certain hero of legend or the fall/rise of a great empire.
I wonder if I'll finally be reborn in the modern age. Nobody can even begin to describe how much I miss showers.
The worst part of this endless cycle is growing up, or growing old and the death of loved ones. Due to this, I have been in pursuit of the Holy Grail for almost all my lives so far but I have yet to obtain it.
Having to be reborn with a different name each time is very troublesome. Having to be a baby/kid for a good 8 years is troublesome. Having the occasional shitty parents is troublesome. Being in the past in general is troublesome.
So many complaints but so little time...alas I believe it is the time for my latest birth. I wonder what century I will end up at this time...

Well, I have finally been reborn in my original era, the modern one. Finally! After centuries of shitty bathhouses and superstitions about cleanliness, a shower!
My new 'parents' were very worried when I started to cry tears of joy during shower time.
I plan to leave my parents early and mind wipe them of my existence, cruel I know, but it's better not to risk them and it's for my own sake as well, I'm not going to go through school, again.
I swear that shitty god that put me here is still taunting me. I was reborn in Japan, with the name, Emiya Shirou.
Yep, gonna abandon that name pretty quickly.
This is actually my second time being born in Japan, so other than adjusting my dialect, I already know the language/culture here.
It was actually my life just before this one that took place in Japan as well. I was surprised at the large gap in time I went through. A whole almost 500 years, my last life took place during 16th century Japan.
While I'm glad I'm finally in the modern era, I was hoping to be born a bit before, so that I could establish some wealth for myself...
I might have some old treasure deposits from my past lives around still.
Well, no more complaining about it now, all in all I'm very happy to be finally born back in my own era.
It around 2004 right now, and I'm only six. When I turn 12 I plan to leave Japan. I'm glad that I was born here, no stress.
If I was born near Greece I would have to lay low until I could grow old enough to leave or survive on my own.
I recently realized that I live in Kuoh. I had mostly forgotten about the plot of DxD throughout the centuries of my life. I first realized I was in DxD during my third life, when I first happened upon Sacred Gears.
Needless to say I was pretty pissed.
I only remember from the plot that the protagonist had the Boosted Gear and was a Devil, and also a huge pervert. That's about it.

Im currently 12 years old, it's been a couple months since I've turned 12. Although, I have been preparing to leave Japan for a while now.
Soon, I will have to erase my parents memory of me and also the records of my existence.
I feel bad for them but I will definitely leave them something to make up for it.
My 'Sacred Gear' also finally activated. The Unlimited Blade Works 'Sacred Gear' was also added to be part of this universe.
It is considered in this world as a prototype Sacred Gear that God made. The Sacred Gear was deemed a failure and was disposed of, but 'somehow' it lached on to my soul and brings my soul along with it for every reincarnation.
Since it was deemed a failure and disposed of, it is technically outside of God's system and permanently bonded to me instead.
Unfortunately, it doesn't activate whenever I want it to, and usually manifests around my teenage years. Fortunately, this time it manifested early. I still haven't begun my training but, my armory is at the ready.
Only a few more days....

I finally finished the hypnosis on my parents and erased all their memories of me, I then proceeded to do it to the rest of my neighbors while I destroyed all photo evidence and any other records of myself.
Hm...?
I looked towards the sky where that academy full of Devils was,
"Interesting.." I said with a smirk.

Issei Hyoudou stood and watched as that corrupted priest Freed injured his friends further with the merged Excalibur.
"Kiba!"
Kiba just unleashed his Balance Breaker while Xenovia started chanting something,
"—In the name of the saint residing in this blade, I set you free! Holy Sword Durandal!"
"Durandal?!"
'I thought she wielded Excalibur!'
Xenovia and Kiba teamed up to slowly drive Freed back, Xenovia utilizing Durandal, the sword that could cut through anything to chip away at and destroy the fake Excalibur's ability, while Kiba utilized his dual holy/demonic blade alongside his speed as a knight to get in close and exchange blades with Freed, eventually winning the duel, shattering the Excalibur forgery in the process.
Kiba slowly walked towards the collapsed Valper ready to end him when Valper began to yell out in some form of realized hysteria, "That's right! I get it now! If the balance between Holy and Devil powers is disrupted it could be possible! So, not only did the four Devil Kings but God—"
Kokabiel slowly floated down after impaling Valper and announced that he was done with playing around so much,
"Red Dragon Emperor choose someone and boost them, this is your final chance."
Issei nervously walked alongside Rias with their hands held together as Ddriag's voice resounded through the area,
[BOOST!]
[BOOST!]
[BOOST!]
[TRANSFER!]
The red gauntlet glowed green as all the accumulated boosts was transferred to Rias.
"Be gone!" Rias yelled out, unleashing the full might of her boosted power of destruction upon Kokabiel.
Her boosted power of destruction took the form of a menacing black serpent before launching itself towards Kokabiel.
Only to be quickly blocked and dispersed as Kokabiel waved the attack off, Akeno took the chance to attack with her Holy Lightning which Kokabiel also dispersed with his five pairs of wings.
The battle continued on as they attacked in waves towards Kokabiel, only to be quickly dispatched and toyed with.
Kokabiel taunted Xenovia and the rest saying how they fought hard for those who have lost their master.
"W-what do you mean?!"
Kokabiel laughed to himself at their ignorance.
"Answer me!!"
Rias decided to ask, "What do you mean by 'lost their master'?"
"Oh my, I let it slip." He answered before breaking out in a maniacal laughter,
"That's right! I'm trying to start a war, there is no point in hiding it any longer!"
He turned to look at them with a serious but amused expression,
"In the last battle of the Great War, God died along the four Devil Kings!"
They all were paralyzed in shock,
"T-that can't be t-true!"
"God is dead..."
"...No way."
Kokabiel began to explain the truth to them, that the decline of their respective races caused the information to become a deeply hidden secret amongst the top leaders of the three factions. He continued to yell out as the rest collapsed of shock and dismay,
"I don't care about any of that, but for some reason they decided to stop the war! Preposterous! If we continued we would have won! The other factions were already crippled! Ripe for the taking!
But that fucking bastard Azazel had the balls to declare an order to retreat! He claimed there would be no more war!
What the fuck?! After all the lives we lost! Were they all for nothing?!"
His rant died down as Asia tried to cope with God's death and reassure herself that God was still alive due to exorcisms and such still working, only for Kokabiel to laugh it off and explain that it was all due to the system God left in place which was being handled by Micheal.
Rias collapses in despair as her own pride not to call on her brother caused them to enter this state, waiting for death until Issei suddenly stood up,
"Don't fuck with me! I'm not gonna let you destroy this town or my friends for such a stupid reason! Beside...besides that...
I'm gonna become the Harem King!"
The area goes in silence, before Kokabiel starts to laugh out loud,
"Hahahahahahahaha!!!.....Harem King? Hahahahahah!!! That's what the Red Dragon Emperor wants?"
Kokabiel decided to use this as an opportunity to pull Issei to his side, "You want to be Harem King, then join me—"
"Hahahahahahaha!!" A child like laughter suddenly rang out from the side, causing all of them to suddenly finch at the sudden intrusion.
All eyes looked towards a figure that sat on the roof, only for their eyes to widen in shock as a boy that appeared no older than 12 years sat with an amused expression. The boy had on a simple red hoodie and black shorts, his hair was a curly and wild but short brown, while his blue eyes twinkled in amusement.
"Who are.....you?"
"Kid you shouldn't be here!"
The boy ignored the question and spoke out, "Haha, Ddriag, your wielder this time is very entertaining, hahaha!"
The members of Rias' Peerage and Xenovia quickly concluded that this boy wasn't ignorant of the supernatural while Kokabiel was inwardly sweating from the notion that this random boy snuck into the barrier placed without even being noticed by him.
Issei's gauntlet flowed green before asking, [Who are you, and how do you know me?]
The boys lips narrowed to a smirk before his attention changed to Kokabiel, "So you're the one causing all this ruckus."
Kokabiel kept his arrogant demeanor, "Who are you, boy? You are but a human, why would you show yourself in my presence?"
The boys eyes continued to twinkle in amusement, "Well, I can't have you decide to destroy the city just as I was about to leave."
This time Kokabiel's brow raised and his eyes changed to amusement as well, "Oh and are you going to do something about it?"
"Haha well it's been awhile, forgive me if I'm a bit rusty." The boys attention turned back towards the red gauntlet on Issei's hand, "And, as for your question Ddriag..."
The boy stood up and look towards Kokabiel before uttering a few words,
"𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙."
