Chapter 3: ROAD TO MOTHERHOOD
That day was the most complex time for Andrea. Luckily she still got herself a loving grandmother with her. "Andrea, Dr. Smith said the executive check up must be done tomorrow and your prenatal should be this week." Denise explain to her...
But only got a helpless look from her as a reply.
"Look Andrea, you are just a human being. You cannot prevent what will happen in the future. All we can do is sway along with its flow and at the same time be cautious yet must not forget to live our life to the fullest so that we won't regret in the future." Her grandmother told her lovingly trying to melt away her doubts.
Then they stare at each other loving, they were the only family left now. And had no one to turn to but their selves. 'Andrea then nod greatly. At least now she still had her grandmother unlike before. And also the little thing in her womb.' She thought happily.
"Well then, I need to leave you here first, I still had a meeting to attend too. And don't worry the staff in this hospital are nice specially when you are a VVIP guest." she said with a wink to her. That made her smile a little knowing this proud side of her grandmother. "And I assigned someone to look after you. She is already on her way here." her grandmother said preparing to leave.
"Heyyy...honey don't think too much. It will do no good to the baby." she reminded her. Smile to her. Give her a goodbye kiss and walk out the door.
Not long, someone came in. She introduced herself as Leilani Cruz a citizen from Philippines. She said she had been working for grandma as her personal assistant in Beijing for 10 years and also a licenced cared giver that is why the task of taking care of Andrea, was given to her. Andrea liked her personality so they get along with each other.
The next day, Andrea's executive check up went well and all the result says that she is recovering very well.
At 7pm Andrea decided to have a walk in the garden in the rooftop which meant only for VVIP patients. Because she could see that the weather is nice, she feel like watching the sunset, while waiting for her grand mother their. Leilani accompany her on the rooftop because it is her duty. She sat on the bench silently looking at the skyscraper that glow from the reflection of sinking sun which gives a hue of red orange. She think that life is really mysterious. One could not predict what will happen next. She thought to her self. Leilane just sat with her silently too since Andrea could not talk yet.
After a while she heard Denise called her walking towards her. So she try to stand and walk to the old lady's direction to shorten the pace. But after taking a few step, a boy about 4-5 years old knocked her down while playing that cause her to fall down. Before Lielani could reach to prevent her from falling she already reach the ground fall from her side. And her first reaction is hold her womb with her left hand and the other hand support her body to minimize the impact.
'So this is what they called mother's instinct! All she could think that time is to protect her precious baby. She was so scared that she trembled from fear of losing her unborn child.'
Looking at the scene, Denise was shock and scared too. Yet happy to know that her grandchild is already accepting the baby in her womb. Before reaching to Andrea she already Harry who is not a resident doctor in this hospital. She hold Andrea in her arms who already lost her consciousness.
"Andrea hang in their. Baby you have grandma and your baby that still needs you!" she pleaded to her not wanting to let her go.
But the nurse that was guarding the garden already called some help and in just a minute a stretcher pick Andrea and deliver her to the emergency room. They do some test checking her status. Then the two followed to the ER. And also the child who knocked Andrea who was also a patient here, and his nanny who looked terrible now. Scared that her boss will punish her or lost her job and or worst go to prison. The nanny just stand beside the ER wall with the boy holding her hands.
Denise and Lielani saw them but did not give attention. Andrea's safety is more important this time. They can deal with them later. Looking at their state, 'good to know they know that they were at fault.'
Both of them stop pacing out when Dr. Smith arrived.
"Dr. Smith please Andrea and her child." she said pleading to the Dr.
And the Dr. just give a nod then went in the ER room.
After a few minutes, an unknown husband and wife rush to their direction.
"Xiao Xi! what happened? Don't worry mama is here. No one can bully you." then look at her nanny who looked so white from fear.
The woman's word made Denise and Leilane wore a confuse look. 'What a woman? Why nag on the nanny when it was her son's fault. And did not even ask what really happen.' They thought. Leilani somewhat felt pity to the nanny who is also a Philippine citizen looking at her appearance.
"Madam I'm sorry I did not take care of Xiao Xi very well." the nanny said apologetically.
Lielani felt sorry for her because she saw that the boy knocked out Andrea because he seem to be a spoiled naughty boy and was running away from the nanny.
"Madam I think it was not the nanny's fault but your son's fault. You Don't have to scream here instead ask your son to apologize to my grandchild." Denise said emotionless. She doesn't want to see them anymore so she wanted to settle the issue immediately. Since she can't sue them because what happen is purely an accident.
"Well, Xiao Xi apologize to them since it was your fault and you put someone's life at risk." The father said to his son.
But it made the wife gloat in anger and said to the nanny. "You too should apologize. It was partly your fault!" not wanting to let go the other. Well some mother really act like this. Love their child until rotten. Not knowing they were the one putting them in a difficult situation.
"Granny I'm sorry!" the boy said look so said and obviously scared to his father.
"Madam I am sorry.! please forgive us. I promised to pray for your grand daughter's health." the nanny said too.
"Apologies accepted." those are the only words they heard from the old lady before she turn to the door in the ER and stand patiently.
This actions made all of them feel like they were facing a queen and should feel fear.
After seeing this action of his boos, Leilani then face the people as if conveying an order from her highness, "Madam, Sir, the things had been settled. Please excuse us." Leilani then said humbly contradicting from the original message of what she says.
The other then did not say anymore since they are welling to let them go. Because they could sense that the old lady hold a powerful aura. And they don't want to pick a fight not knowing who they are picking to.
The family then start to walk out with the nanny behind walking head down. But before they could walk far, Leilani said to the nanny, "SANDALI LANG! KUNG KA-ILANGAN MO NG TULONG, PUMUNTA KA SA Gu Enterprise hanapin mo si Lielani Cruz." (means if you incounter difficulty, go to Gu Enterprise and find Lielani Cruz.) the nanny halted and nod at her thankfully.
After 30 mins. Dr. Harry Smith come out and walk directly to Denise. "CEO Gu, after some random test and check up done to her, i could say that she was fine now. she had just pass out because of the shock since she was still weak at the moment." He explained.
"We injected a medicine to make the baby hold firmly for its safety. Your duty this time is to take extra careful not to affect her mood that will trigger abdominal pain that will put the baby at risk." he said to warn them.
"By the way, i already called the OB i requested for her. She will be her in a few minutes." He added, assisting the old lady towards the private room where the staff placed Andrea.
"Ohhh what a pity child! I can't bare to see like this you should recover soon." Denise said in a misty eyes look so worried for her grandchild. She then made up her mind, She will assign some body guards for her and a personal assistant. She will make sure to give everything for her. It doesn't matter wether she will spend all her fortune for her, as long as she is fine.
Right then the door open a woman in her 30's come in. "Dr. Gail, nice to see you. This is CEO Gu of Gu enterprise." Dr. Smith introduce them to each other.
"My pleasure to meet you CEO Gu. I'm Gail Yap." she said extending her hand to the old lady.
"Same her Dr. Yap." they shake hands.
"Well i won't hold my findings long, I should tell the results now, after looking at the test charts executed to my patient, I think she undergoes prenatal depression. This case may lead to unwanted miscarriage if stay untreated. This case main case is her unstable psychological issues." she express her thought.
"As for the treatment, she can undergo right after her discharge. My clinic is just few blocks away." Dr. Yap explained. right after her words, they someone said...
"My baby! m-my baby! how's my b-baby grandma?"
Andrea burst out while crying. All she could think is her baby. She can't forgive herself if she will lost her baby. She did not even realize that she was able to talk already.
On the contrary, the old lady's first reaction is being joyful because her grandchild were able to talk already.
"Ohhh my Baby glad you're awake! How are you feeling? You can finally talk." she said happily.
But the two professional had notice that the patient was anxious.
"Andrea don't worry the baby is fine. All you need is rest." Dr. Yap said trying to prevent her from harming herself.
"Is that so? Then i can finally breath. You are?" Andrea felt relieve although she doesn't know the person talking, but because she ware a lab coat, she naturally think she is a doctor and feel that she could trust her.
"Yeah that's true. And I am Dr. Gail Yap, your OB."
"Well then thank you so much for the help doctor. I don't know what to do next if i will lost my baby." she explained saying that all she think of is her baby's safety.
The old woman felt guilty about. She thought of her self as a selfish person. She wore a sad face and Leilani's hand tap her shoulder. As if saying, I'ts fine madam, anyone could be groundless and clueless when it comes to their children.
'So this is a mother's feeling for their children. Someone could be unreasonable. She even wanted to find the boy who knock her out and punish him for what he have done. But put aside her thought she is not that evil anyway as long as her child is fine as the doctor said.'
'Baby we must fight together."
'I love you.'
Andrea said to herself touching her belly.
Then smile to the people around her.
"We should leave first. See you again on your prenatal check up." Dr. Yap said then turn to leave.
"Yeah you need a rest Andrea. Just call us if anything happen CEO Gu." Dr. Smith said to Andrea then to the old lady. That only answer them with nod.
