Two weeks after prom night.
(Barfs) "Oh God, please don't let it be that." I silently prayed.
A knock sounded on my door, and the came my adoptive mother's voice.
"Beth honey, are you ok in there," she asked.
"I'm fine, it's probably just food poisoning or something," I called from the bathroom.
"Do you think you can go to school," she asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I said.
I went to school as normal, but it wasn't a normal day. People were whispering behind my back. When I got to my desk the word "SLUT" was written in permanent marker, I tried to wash it off, but it didn't work. Later that day, Darren came up to me and said this is what you get for going against me. That night I cried myself to sleep. I decided right then and there that if I was pregnant I would raise that child. I would protect the child to the ends of the earth, and I did. I called Lillian that morning and told her I wouldn't be at school. She said she didn't care and hung up. I skipped school that day. I didn't even go because I was scared. I was terrified, and it hit me it was no longer just me. I grew up right then and there.
