Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The University
When Stephen arrived at University, it was already past 7. But still he didn't directly go inside campus rather he finds a small store for him to leave his motorcycle. Since he didn't want it to be seen inside the campus. He did find a small store that's not far away from the campus, it was rather a walking distance.
After talking with the store owner, she agreed that Stephen could leave his bike there with a fee of 50 pesos, He parked it inside then locked it before walking towards the campus.
When he arrived at the campus gate, Stephen realized that the gate was somewhat magnificent. The gate was shining when it was hit with the sun rays. The gates arc was covered with golden paint or rather it is a golden arc, and atop of the arc, in the center laid the meticulously carved "CORTEZ UNIVERSITY" in a glass. Stephen didn't see it yesterday when his watching it inside the jeepney and now that he sees it clearly he couldn't make up his mind if going to this School is a good idea or a bad idea.
Stephen didn't linger there, he quickly stepped inside passing through the gate with only one guard checking and inspecting every person that was going inside. Yesterday a while ago he got an email from school instructing him that his schedule was processed and when the day he went to the school he just directly went to the registrar office in the Administration building to get his schedule. Hence, He quickly finds the administration building with the help of other students that he asks. Inside the office there is only one woman sitting behind those glass walls. He quickly asked for his schedule and got out there immediately since he was already 10 minutes late in his first class. He didn't have enough time to admire the beauty of the campus. He quickly ran into another building beside the administration.
The building has 5 floors, at the top you could see the carved letters of " CORTEZ MEDICINE BUILDING". Stephen ignores everything for including the strange stares that he got from the other students. He quickly ran to the corridors and climbed up to the second floor.
"Shit where is room 216 and why is this building huge with so many rooms? ahhh!"
He frustratedly finds his room. After a while he quickly got in front of the closed room. He quickly knocked first before opening the door and getting inside. The relatively old professor asked him if his a student in that class.
"Ah yes sir, I'm a new student here and I'm sorry for being late, I got lost while finding the room.
" it's okay, Mr.?" the professor said trailing it as if asking my name
"Stephen De Chavez sir, " i quickly replied
"Mr De Chavez, it's okay since this is your first day but don't make it happen again" I quickly nodded and uttered a yes.
"Im Victor Cortez, you can just call me sir vic," he smiled and faced the other students in the room. "class lets first welcome your new classmate, Mr. De Chavez could first introduce yourself first?"
"Hi everyone! I'm Stephen De Chavez" Stephen awkwardly said.
"thank you Stephen. you can sit beside miss Valdez"
He saw a girl that was rather pretty. Wearing a white uniform that fits her. Stephen quickly walks there and sits down beside the girl. The girl turned in his direction.
"Hi I'm Kiera, you're new here?" she said.
"Oh Hi Kiera! yup I just got here yesterday" Stephen answered while listening to the Professor that was now continuing on his discussion.
"oh welcome to La Paz!"
"thank you" While listening to the lecture Stephen observed the room. The room was rather small and had a space that was enough to cater 30-35 people at most. There are 5 rows of seats with 5 chairs each row. And in the middle has a pathway towards the front where the teachers table lay and the board. Although the room is rather small, it is not crowded though with only 24 students including him in this class.
Stephen observed everyone and he quietly amused to see that all the students here were so focused on listening to lectures. All of the students are so serious that only the voice of the prof and scratching of papers as they take notes could be heard.
After 2 hours of painstaking lectures it was done and now it's time for laboratory class. Stephen learns that all of the classes of all medical and paramedical that the school offers are held on this building with just a few minors on the other building. Which 1st floor intended for the offices of the teachers and deans of each course, each course had a specific office room and also a cafeteria. 2nd and 3rd floor of the building was intended for the lectures, and 4th and 5th floor for the laboratory class.
They are heading now to the 4th floor for their laboratory class. Kiera tells Stephen that all the courses here have only one or two sections, as such they are the only 2nd year students of Medtech, it was because there were not many people living in this city.
As they walk to the corridors in the 4th floor Stephen bumps into someone. It was a guy with thick eyeglasses on, which was also wearing a white uniform. He quickly helps the guy picking the heavy books that fall when they bump, and he extends his hand to help the guy stand up but the guy ignores it and quickly stands up by himself.
"Are you okay?" Stephen asks worriedly. then gives the books to the guy.
The guy stared with him before muttering, "Ah Yeah, thanks". And quickly walks away.
'weird' Stephen thinks while glancing at the guy before resuming his walk.
