Chapter 18 - Development
Days 8, Month 1, Fall, Year 3022
It had been three days since the opening of Monster Dojo. Kyle chose the name Monster Dojo because the dojo was dealing with a lot of monsters as that was the main attraction for the dojo. He could have chosen other names but he decided with this simple one.
For the past three days, not many things had happened to the dojo. The materials they ordered had arrived. Once the material arrived, Dodo immediately created many mana generators. After some improvement and modifications, Dodo managed to create 120 mana generators from materials to create 100.
It was a huge improvement and Kyle was happy. With the many mana generators available, Dodo did some modifications to the training room and all of the training room was now brimming with mana. If someone were to use the training room either to train their skills or kill monsters, they might get an increase in their base status.
Due to that, every night, Kyle would go in the training room for a few hours and start killing monsters. He managed to increase his experience as well as raising some of his base status. Since he was working hard, he managed to raise his base status slightly.
Other than that, Lance had been coming every day to train and chose the Monster package 3. There were three monster-fighting services available in the dojo. Package 1 was for one monster. Package 2 was for 10 monsters while package 3 was for 20 monsters.
They could only choose only one type of monster per package, no mix monster in a package. The price varied from the type of monsters. How the customers fought the monster was up to them. 1 vs 1 or 1 vs all, it was up to them.
Other than Lance, he got two more regulars frequenting the dojo. The two were the same as Lance too at the beginning but they immediately believed him when they saw Lance and when Lance showed them Relis.
Out of those two, one of them was a Rank 1 Magician while the other was a normal human. Due to the incoming war, the Rank 1 magician wanted to help his friend to become a magician. They had been checking out many places for souls but Monster Dojo was the best for them.
After watching Lance with the intelligent Relis, the Rank 1 magician wanted to get rid of his current soul and bought a new one. However, both of them test for compatibility and none of them had the 100% compatibility with any monsters available in the dojo.
The magician put on hold of his plan after Kyle told him that the monster list would be updated in the future and he might find the right one. He surveyed the price of the 100% soul and decided to go on a mission to save some money.
As for his friend, he wanted to get the 100% soul too but he did not have any money to get one. He decided to choose a soul that is the most compatible at the moment and bought the 40% soul. Though the soul was inferior to the 100% soul, it was better than the natural soul which was only at 20%.
Both of the two friends decided to collect some money to get themselves the 100% soul after they saw how good and intelligent Relis and Glen (Kyle show off his eagle soul too).
Other than the two regulars, many other magicians came to visit but left immediately when they saw the list of services because they did not believe Kyle. "That's their loss," said Kyle while shrugging his shoulder.
He knew how effective his dojo was because his regulars, especially Lance had been getting a lot of experience to rank up. Lance was a training maniac where he bought a few Monster Package 3 in one go because he wanted to fight as many as possible.
Since there were not many customers, Kyle did not put up any time limit. However, he planned to put on a time limit once his dojo became popular. However, even with only three regulars, he got a lot of profits especially from the rich man, Lance.
Kyle sat behind the counter and stared at his status. His basic status had risen for a bit and he finally met the condition to use the eagle claw skill. However, his wind and sight status had not once increased in terms of the base status and the experience. None of the monsters he had in the dojo could help him increase the two status.
"Hmm~ I will need to hunt for more monsters," thought Kyle and he sighed. If he could not get any monsters that could increase the experience of his wind and sight status, he would not be able to advance to the next rank. Not only the two statuses, the fire status that Lance had met the same fate.
They could get that experience from the same monster as their soul but the chance was low, super low. From Dodo's calculation, it was less than a 1% chance. Most of the time, they gave the other status experience.
"Do you know any monsters that will give these three experiences?" Kyle asked Dodo.
[I need to analyze the monster first to answer. Well, all we need is to hunt for more species of monsters] said Dodo.
"Can't you make a robot or something to manage the dojo? If we have them, I can go out and hunt for more monsters," asked Kyle.
[If you want, I can make a few of them but the problem is, no one will believe the words of robots. It will be more convincing if you are the one serving them] said Dodo and Kyle sighed.
"You are right. Unless you are the one inside the robot, the robot will be useless in attracting customers," said Kyle and he paused for a second, "Can't you do that?"
[I can. Anything inside this dojo is part of me but no matter how good I am with talking, the appearance of a robot will not work in convincing our customers] said Dodo.
"Anyway, how about the online promotion?" Kyle had been asking Dodo to promote the dojo online to attract customers but at the moment, none of the visiting magicians came due to the online promotion. All of them were passersby.
[There are too many dojos on this planet and the current situation of this planet has made them use stronger promotions] said Dodo.
"So, our ads got drowned by theirs," said Kyle and he frowned. Lance had told him that he had helped him promote the dojo to some people but most of them were a high-rank magician and Kyle could only offer rank 1 monsters at the moment. So, he would not get any new customers from Lance's help.
With nothing else to do, Kyle decided to enter the training room and started his training. He reminded Dodo to call him if anyone entered the dojo.
A week later.
Days 17, Month 1, Fall, Year 3022
Kyle was surprised to see the many people in his dojo. It was not packed but many people were frequenting his dojo for the past few days and it was all thanks to the two regular customers, Konba and Telly.
The duo became friends with Lance and found out that Kyle had problems with promoting the dojo. They knew how good the dojo was and decided to rope in their friends and coworkers to visit the dojo. All of them were normal humans but they all wanted to become a magician due to the incoming war.
Konba and Telly introduced the dojo to them because they knew that the soul Kyle sold was superior and much cheaper than the souls sold elsewhere. None of them believe Konba and Telly but once they saw the soul and the price, they were sold and also became a regular.
Now, all of them were magicians. Those that have more savings decided to get the membership to get better souls while those that did not have any budget bought at least the 20% soul.
Kyle was happy with the current traffic the dojo got and he was extremely thankful to Konba and Telly that he gave them the chance to get 100% soul for free when they found their 100% compatibility. He did not mind giving them for free because he could easily make them and it was as thanks for helping him.
His customers had been growing in number because those that the duo pulled in pulled other people too and the chain reaction continued and slowly increasing the number of customers. The skill shop had opened too and Dodo got a lot of order for skills especially from Lance.
Four days ago, the dojo system leveled up and he chose the scenario room as the rewards. All the data regarding the scenario room was added to Dodo's data and they could now construct the rooms. With the scenario room, he decided to make a game like scenario so that his customer would not get bored with the straightforward training.
Kyle and Dodo had been brainstorming on what they wanted to make with the scenario room and they listed a few of them. First of all, they wanted to make a scenario room where it portrayed a certain environment such as the forest, desert, and so on. They called it the environment room.
Now, all of the training room was changed to a scenario room where the customers could choose which environment they wanted. That day was the first day the dojo released the environment room service and his customers loved it, especially Lance.
Fighting in the environment room felt like they were fighting in the wild and they loved it because they would get the experience of fighting in a certain environment. Not only that, but they could also plan their strategy if they fought in that kind of environment.
Kyle's environment room was not normal because the same type of environment would have a different layout every time the customers used them. Kyle was praised a lot by this randomness, especially from Lance.
Lance wanted to suggest that but he found out that Kyle had implemented it since the beginning. If Lance could give a star to the dojo, he would give it 10/5 because that was how good the dojo was. Lance had advanced a lot since he knew about the dojo.
He had maxed out one of his status and currently almost maxing out the other status too. Unfortunately, his fire status experience was still zero because Kyle had yet to go hunting for monsters that could give out the fire experience.
Other than that, Kyle had added a new basement floor where the bathroom was transferred there. His customer could go downstairs to clean themselves after fighting the monsters. Of course, the male and female were separated. He had also added lockers for his customers to put their things.
He had also added more training rooms and the dojo now had 20 training rooms where all of them were scenario rooms. The size of each training room was increased to 100 meters on each side of the room. So, the room had now become spacious and when using the environment, it would be vast.
Kyle sat behind his counter and he was typing something in his gaming interface. Yes, Dodo had updated the gaming interface to work the same as a computer for Kyle so that it will be easier for Kyle to do his work.
Kyle was currently working on creating the event mode scenario room. While he was busying himself with his work, Lance came to the counter.
"Boss Kyle, will it take longer for you to get new monsters for fire experience?" Lance asked.
"Hmm? Well… I am sorry Lance, it will take a while. I do want to go and find one but at the moment, I am a bit busy with dojo and I cannot go far to find a fire monster," said Kyle. He was telling the truth. Dodo surveyed online and the most possible monsters that could give a special experience like the wind, sight, and fire were not available near city E-47.
"How about the winged bear?" Suddenly, Telly came and suggested to Kyle. "Boss Kyle, you need the wind and sight experience, right? I think the winged bear can give the wind experience. As for the sight experience, maybe you can get eye ghost monsters at the ruins west of this city," suggested Telly.
The information about Kyle needed the wind and sight experience were not a secret. Every one of his customers knew about it. Kyle told them that to show how superior his monster souls were.
"Aren't winged bears rare?" Kyle asked. At his current strength, he could fight the winged bear but the bear was rare.
"You don't know? Didn't you frequent the Apple Forest to catch all these monsters?" Telly asked as he found it weird.
"Urm… I have been too busy and did not read or heard any news about the Apple Forest," said Kyle. He had not been going to the Apple Forest for a while because there was no need for him to catch the monsters. He bred all of them.
"Well, I am telling you that the forest is now infested with the bear monsters. The mega claw bear, blue eyes bear, and winged bear. They are common now. The city authority had started putting up missions to exterminate the bears. The Apple Forest is now really dangerous," said Telly.
"From the information I got there is a super-strong winged bear that controls all these bear monsters," added Lance. "And there were also sightings of many phoenix winged bears in Apple Forest." Telly and Kyle were shocked.
"Phoenix winged bear? Not one but many of them?" Kyle asked. He was shocked. One of them could destroy the city but many of them? That would be a huge calamity.
"According to what I heard from my family, it is because of the sword crown. The sword crown contained massive energy and it started affecting the planet. Not only this city, at other places, all those rare and strong monsters had started appearing everywhere in massive numbers."
Kyle and Telly's mouth gaped. They did not know that the crown had that kind of effect. The planet had now become dangerous.
[Kyle, this is our chance! Let's grab all those bear data and we can offer new monsters for our dojo!] Dodo was excited but not Kyle. He had read and heard stories about the phoenix winged bear and they were super dangerous. At his current strength, the normal winged bear was fine but phoenix winged bear was out of his league.
"I am still weak and out of six skills Glen has, I have only unlocked two of them," said Kyle.
[No need to worry about that. I have a surprise for you. You will love it. I will show you tonight] said Dodo. Kyle frowned. He did not know what the surprise was but he hoped it would be something really good.
Kyle looked at Lance and Telly and he said, "So, you are telling me to catch the phoenix winged bear?" Lance nodded his head many times and he came close to Kyle's ears and said something to him.
"I know you breed the monsters in this dojo. I don't know where and how but I know you breed them. I hope you can breed the phoenix winged bear too," whispered Lance and Kyle was stunned. Lance moved away from Kyle and smiled at him.
"…" Kyle was silent for a minute while staring at Lance. Not only, Kyle, Dodo was shocked too. Telly was looking at them and wondered what Lance said to Kyle. "… I will try," said Kyle while looking at Lance.
He wanted to deny it but from the look of Lance, Kyle knew that Lance had confirmed it in some way. Not that he minded it if Lance knew because it was too suspicious to offer too many monsters when he never once got out of the dojo to catch the monsters. Anyone with a brain could come out with the same conclusion.
Also, Kyle was not worried if someone tried to steal his monsters of anything because they would not be able to find them. Kyle's monster breeding location was private and he was the only one who could enter it.
"Yes! I will be waiting for it," said Lance excitedly.
[Hmm… he is a genius in his family. I should start digging more into his family to get more of this guy secret] said Dodo. Kyle only smiled.
"Anyway, your surprise will be useful to me, right?" Kyle asked in his mind.
[Absolutely. With what I am going to show you, you will worship me and call me Lord Dodo! Hohoho] Dodo started his bragging. [The thing that I will show you will help you to become stronger and you can fight head to head with the phoenix bear. No problemo]
"…Ok…" Kyle was speechless with Dodo. He thought that Dodo would slightly heal with the system level up but nothing was changing about him.
After that, Lance and Telly left Kyle alone and he continued with his work on the scenario room. It looked like the dojo was getting popular as more and more new customers came to the dojo. Kyle was happy with this development.
A few hours later, it was 10 pm and it was time to close the dojo. The dojo's operation time was from 8 am to 10 pm. Dodo locked the door and led Kyle to the surprise he said earlier. Dodo teleported Kyle to a new planet he created.
Once Kyle arrived at the planet, he was met with a field of magic plants. They had many fields of magic plants but the one Kyle saw was different. All the magic plants planted there were glowing with white light. Kyle was shocked when he saw the view.
"This- this- this-," Kyle stuttered because what he saw was unbelievable.
[Surprise!!!] said Dodo excitedly.
"White grade plant treasures!!!"
