Chapter 17: A New Day
~Time Skip~
3rd POV
"Oi Iwaizumi, who was the girl you were talking to back a while ago after the finals?" Makki asked trying to make the air lighter.
Iwaizumi nodded and started walking next to them. "Her name is Akiyama Sora. Oikawa and I met her a couple years ago, I first saw her at the finals as well. But Oikawa met her after that. We would often see each other here and there. Though the next week she was supposed to leave Japan, Oikawa had the great idea of bothering the poor girl during the whole week and weekend before she left. So during that time we got to know each other, but even during that short amount of time we knew each other it was fun..." Iwaizumi finished off while grabbing another volleyball.
"Wow~" Matsun cooed and Makki spoke up "That's the first that you ever spoke about a girl~ She must be pretty amazing than~"
As Matsun and Makki grabbed a volleyball as well, "But her name sounds familiar. Where have I heard that name before?" Matsun said as he scratched his cheek.
"Oh, I thought that before too back then. A couple years ago when she was here, she was the Ace of Niiyama Girls Middle school team. She had been featured in Volleyball weekly a couple times." Iwaizumi said as Matsun and Makki looked at him with wide eyes. "Wow really!?"
Iwaizumi nodded his head. "Iwa-chan talking about a girl~ How unusual~" Oikawa cooed as he poked Iwaizumi.
Iwaizumi grew irk marks and hit Oikawa. "Oi Oikawa you should know this girl too apparently." Makki said to their captain. Oikawa tilted his head and looked at them. "Who is it?" he asked and Iwaizumi huffed out. "Iwaizumi said it was a girl names Akiyama Sora."
Oikawa stopped in his spot and blinked a couple times. "Aki-chan?" He then looked over at Iwaizumi and the other two. "Iwa why'd you bring up Aki-chan all of a sudden?" Oikawa asked since they rarely even mention her between them.
Oikawa though has always remembered her words and took it to heart.
Her words hit him hard. Her words helped him push on and get stronger. It let him see things differently Of course, he still is upset about losing to Ushijima but he now tries to see it as something to push him even harder.
At that moment he remembered her exact words: "You know I think it's okay to lose and accept defeat. Those times of defeat make you stronger and let's you see your mistakes. It lets you change yourself and make improvements. So even if that defeat and an enemy you see that you can't defeat. So what? Keep getting back up and trying. If you have a goal than train harder, harder than everyone else and show them that this is who I am. Say 'this is what my hard work and dedication did for me.' Because your hard work will never betray you."
He smiled a bit and turned towards Iwaizumi, "So Iwa-chan?" he asked. Iwaizumi scratched the back of his head and sighed out. "Man, I would think that maybe you would recognize her, but I guess you didn't." he said earning a confused look from Oikawa.
Iwaizumi sighed once again. "Akiyama was there at the tournament. She watched out games and she was also the girl who laughed at you for being a dumb ass." he said bluntly.
Oikawa dropped the ball in his hands and rushed over to Iwaizumi and shook his shoulders. "You mean that was actually her!?!? No wonder she looked so much like her! But she watched our games!?!?!?!?!?!?" he yelled as he still shook Iwaizumi.
Iwaizumi grew irked and punched Oikawa making him let go of his shoulders. "You dumb ass don't shake me! She was there!" Iwaizumi yelled at his setter. Oikawa held his head and looked at his friend with wide eyes. "She was really there?" he asked with disbelief. Iwaizumi nodded and picked up some more volleyballs and put it in the cart.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner!!!?" Oikawa complained and Iwaizumi shot him a glare. Oikawa backed off and picked up a volleyball that was near him.
As Oikawa stood there with a dumb look on his face staring at the ball in his hands, he held a smile. A smile of excitement and happiness to see the girl again. He took a great liking to her. She was way different and she was amazing, he remembered some of her games that he had found the night of meeting her. He was in awe of her spikes and her playing. She was advanced and truly held the title of Ace.
"Oi Trashykawa!" Iwaizumi yelled at the setter knocking him out of his daze. Oikawa looked up at his friend. "She said hi and she wanted to hit your sets some time and play a couple matches of volleyball." Iwaizumi finished.
Oikawa blinked a couple times at his friend and his smile grew wider. "Really!? That's amazing!" he said.
"OI OIKAWA! GET BACK TO PRACTICE!!" Mizoguchi yelled at the setter. Oikawa flinched and nodded his head running back to practice on the courts.

Sora POV
I sigh out as I walk out of the building. "Stop sighing, we just finished all of your interviews. That's the last one for the week. Plus, the schools and your schedules for this program should be released and given to me later on today. Aren't you excited to find out what school you'll get to be in?" Nakamoto asked as we walked out into the parking lot and into his car.
I hummed. "That's more of what I'm sighing about. What if I don't get into the school I want. There's about 35% or less chance that I would actually be able to get in." I say as I buckle my seat belt. Now it was Nakamoto's turn to sigh and give me a smile. "Don't worry about it, if the school you want is in the Top 10 schools than you'll be pretty fine chance." he says.
I nod my head and look out the window. "Then once we get a word of the school that I'll be attending I'll start school the next day or???" I ask and turn to face Nakamoto.
He hums "Well, since the information will be coming on later today, since it's still a little early. But assuming that the information will be given to me before late afternoon, we'll head over to the school with your parents and enroll you and get info from the school."
He continued on "I got word from Chris, that the school will already be notified that you'll be attending their school, so it'll be pretty easy and won't take long. So maybe a day after we enroll and get things together, then you'll be able to attend school." Nakamoto finishes.
"I see." I say and look out the window again.
~Time Skip~ A day later
Nakamoto chuckles as he enters the school with me. "You have some luck and fate on your side." Nakamoto says as we head up to the main office to see the principal and the teacher in charge of the volleyball club.
I chuckle as well. "I guess so." I say and he glances at me. "This is the school that kid, the one that you told me a lot about, goes to correct?" I nod my head "Yeah it is. He'll be in for a surprise since I haven't told him that I came back to Japan." I said.
He laughed "Well you really haven't had much time to do that, since we've been busy for a good while. The only break that you had was the time when we got here." I sighed out and had a huge smile on my face. "Yeah, but it's fine. I was able to see my family and some friends again. But I'll be able to train again soon." I say with excitement.
Nakamoto knocked on the door to the Vice Principal's office. "Come in." we hear and open the door to see the toupee wearing Vice Principal. He turns around and shakes Nakamoto's hand. "Nice to see you again Nakamoto-san." He says.
I walk to the side of Nakamoto. "It's nice to see you again Vice Principal." I say as I bow to him. He cocks a proud face "Yes, it's good to have you attend our school Akiyama. Here's your schedule and if you need anything please feel free to ask." he says and clears his throat.
"Thank you." I say and he walks around us, opening the door to leave. "I'll show you guys to the teacher in charge of the volleyball club." he says and the three of us walk around the empty school as it is still early in the morning.
The vice principal opens the door and we follow inside and stop at a desk. Seeing a man with glasses and a green tracksuit over his outfit. "Takeda." the vice principal says as he clears his throat.
The man Takeda puts down his files and looks up and his eyes widens a bit seeing the Vice Principal. "Yes, Vice principal?" he asks while standing and bowing to the man. The toupee man steps aside and shows us.
"Takeda, these two here are associated with the volleyball association and program that I told you about." the vp says and moves away. "I'll leave you to it then." with that he leaves the office with other teacher glancing at us and going back to work.
Takeda bows and gestures to some seats that are by him. Nakamoto and I sit down. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Takeda Ittetsu. I'm the teacher in charge of the boys volleyball team, however at the moment there is no adviser in charge for the girls." he says while facing us.
Nakamoto nods and sticks his hand out to the man. Takeda shakes his hand "It's nice to meet you Takeda-san. I'm Nakamoto Ikeshi and this is my student that I'm training." Nakamoto says and gestures to me. I smile and stick out my hand and we shake hands. "Nice to meet you Takeda-san. I'm Akiyama Sora. I'll be a new student here at Karasuno."
Nakamoto soon speaks up. "Well, I'm not sure how much information the Vice Principal has told you but we'll be discussing more in depth about Sora here and the program that she's in."
Takeda nods his head and speaks up "He has only told me little about the program like the name and that it concerns about volleyball. And that a prodigy player will be attending our school." he says. "But I have done some research to get more information so I have the basis of what the program is about. I'm very sorry about my lack of knowledge." Takeda says while giving a bow.
Nakamoto waves his hand dismissing it. "No your quite fine. This is a new program and the organization is focusing on something new. So I'll explain some things to you but there might be some changes in schedules and things, which I'll let you know in the future."
Takeda nods and Nakamoto goes in to explain my situation "So to start off, Sora here is like a prodigy volleyball player who came back here from the States. Back in the US, where the program had started and taken place, sent Sora and another player to the prefecture of Miyagi. The ones in charge has put the players in a school which they saw fit or decided would be best to place the players. Though getting to the point where we come in. Sora, will be training and practicing with the volleyball team here."
Nakamoto continues on "Though in this training, your players will be exposed to advanced and new techniques that Sora has been exposed to. By doing this, the program and organization hoped to help and spread the knowledge as well advancing these select players. But, this also allows the players to learn different things."
Takeda's eyes widen as he thought about this program and how it benefits the team. "Wait you mean that we get help from this situation as well!?" he asks clarifying the situation. Nakamoto smirks a bit. "It depends on how well you will use this scenario to your advantage. Considering your team doesn't have exact plays and style it would be easier for you to see."
I smile at Takeda and speak up. "This can go both ways. Though this school's team has lots of improvements that can be worked on. That is also a reason for this program as well. But overall schools like yours will benefit from this situation." I clarify signaling that with me I would be able to improve their team.
Nakamoto nods at my words. "Exactly. However, she won't always be available to practice with your team. There are other schools that are assigned to us that we'll be training with. Different schools that are spread across Miyagi, will also be able to train with us."
Takeda's eyes widen at the given information and smiles brightly at us. "Thank you for the opportunity!" he says and bows to us. I smile and nod my head. While Nakamoto chuckles "Thank you as well. You'll also be helping us as well and giving Sora more experience with different teams and styles."
The three of us spend a lot of time talking and discussing the program and my situation on what I will be doing in depth and what I can't do for the team. But also discussing that I won;t be there for practice and I follow a schedule. This goes on back and forth with some questions from Takeda and us answering them.
Takeda lifts his head up and has a glimmer in his eyes. "Yes, the team will be really happy with this!" he said and looked at the clock. He turned his head quickly at me. "We have spent a lot of time talking! Akiyama-san, you need to hurry on to class!" he tells me and he gets up from his seat and grabs his paper work.
I nod my head and get up from my seat straightening out my skirt and grabbing my bag. Nakamoto chuckled and placed a hand on my head. "I'll see you later. You can tell me how things went when you get a chance. I'll see you" Nakamoto says.
I nod my head. I look back at Takeda. "Takeda-san, would it be alright that I meet you back here and you introduce me to the team?" I ask and he nods his head happily. "Of course!"
I smile and leave the teacher's room and walk up down the hall. I turn around and wave at Nakamoto as he leaves and Takeda walks with me showing me to my next class. "Thank you" I say and look up at the class. "Class 2-4" I say and check my paper.
A teacher for my class comes down the hallway. "Akiyama-san right?" the teacher said and I nodded my head.
The teacher smiled "I'm your home room teacher, nice to meet you. I'll go in and introduce you to the class." they said and I followed them inside.
