Chapter 3: The Chosen One

I hate this place. One thing I did not remember was the fact that the force let me feel my surroundings, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I could feel the whips hitting slaves, feel the pain and mental anguish from slave girls being forced to service disgusting men and Hutt's, I could feel not only the sadness of the slaves and free men being hurt but also the sick sadistic satisfaction their tormenters felt. I wouldn't need the Darkside's corruption to want to kill them all.

I pushed those feelings and thoughts from my mind with the help of Alpha, and let the force guide me towards the shop in which resided my objective. After a few more minutes of walking and using the force to make several cutthroats back off from me and my droid, I finally arrived outside of the Toydarian's Junkshop. Entering into the store I saw the fat alien flying around the room and barking in Huttese at the young Skywalker. After he noticed me, he said a few words to Anakin and sent him to the counter to serve us. Anakin in his little mind didn't deviate from his nature and proceeded to ask if the droid was an angel, his shock at being told it was just a droid was hilarious, thank goodness Alpha could save it for later.

"Alright kid, I need a T-14 Hyperdrive for a Nubian starship, you got it?" I said quickly, wanting to get the proverbial ball rolling, while subtly using Mechu-Duru to disable the bomb in his leg inside the slave chip. After Anakin finished speaking in Huttese to Watto, he informed me of the rarity of it and that it would cost a good amount. Feigning disappointment over it and casually mentioning that it would be hard returning to the ship with the sandstorm forming, Anakin was kind enough to offer us shelter for the night, such a pure little soul, probably couldn't hurt a fly. *snicker*

The walk to the slave quarter was relatively short, and I couldn't help but notice the number of slaves. Truly, I could see the use of them. Slaves could be used to boost a failing society forward, but in a society where the bottom of society had at least a modicum of privilege, it became useless. And purposely keeping your society low enough to keep using them just didn't make sense to me.

"Mom, we have guests!" Anakin called out to his mother, Shimi, as she walked around the corner of their small abode. "I told them they could stay the night because of the sandstorm, can they stay Mom? Please?" Okay, maybe he was good at one point, not a bit of lying.

Shimi seemed to appraise us, eyes softening at the droid, who I think I'll start calling Naomi, and myself. I tried giving my best-disarming smile, which seemed to work as she relented and allowed us to stay.

"I guess, Ani, my name is Shimi Skywalker, it's a pleasure to meet you two." She said it with a lot of sincerity, truly a good woman. I gave a small smile and introduced us, "My name is Wolfe, this is my protocol droid, Naomi. I would like to thank you and your son for the lodging, and if possible I would like to talk to you privately?" I asked.

Shimi seemed confused at my request but nonetheless agreed. "Ani, why don't you go show Naomi the droid you've been working on, it might know how to help you." Anakin gave a nod and grabbed Naomi's hand, he seemed surprised at the warmth, but soon recovered and pulled her to the back room. Once he was out of earshot I went to sit at the table in the room and Shimi took the opposite side and nodded as if signaling me to begin. Leaning forward slightly I began,

"Miss Skywalker, I am similar to a Jedi, you may not know, but there are many different types of Jedi that follow different codes, I am one of those people. I noticed that your son was force sensitive while I was at the Toydarian's Junkshop and wanted to propose that I release you and your son from slavery to train him to control his power. You won't have to be separated, but you will have to work to earn your keep. How does this sound to you?" I said as calmly as I could but it was obviously still surprising, happy even, but it also was evident she may have suspected this.

"I assumed he was special when he was born, you see, he did not have a father, I just.. I became pregnant with him one day, and I tried my best to just raise him as a normal child. It's hard to believe that so many mothers have to deal with just randomly being pregnant like that.." She said tiredly as if it had been weighing her down.

I had to stifle a laugh into a cough at her misconception and responded, "Uh, Miss Skywalker, that is actually not normal, all Jedi have both parents, it seems you are an exception, however. I doubt you have ever heard of it, but there is a prophecy of a Chosen One, a man with no father born by the living force to bring balance to the force. It seems your son is that chosen one." She seemed shocked by my words and quickly said.

"Are you saying my son is a..a Messiah or something?" She asked exasperated.

"Well, essentially, kinda? It could be seen that way, but it would not be good to treat him as such or put him on a pedestal as that would negatively affect his viewpoint on life. Everyone is special in their own way but you shouldn't raise a person up thinking he's a god or something similar unless he is one. Your son is merely a person who was destined to be born to do a single thing, a special man, no more, no less. Now, will you accept my proposition?" She seemed to calm down somewhat at my words and nodded at my question so I smiled and began using Mechu-Duru to disable her slave chip.

"Okay your both free." She was obviously surprised at my words and responded, "Have you already purchased us from Watto?" I shook my head, "Nope, in fact, I didn't even get what I needed from him." She gave me a look of confusion and explained, "Well, you see, we have chips in our bodies with explosives meant to main us if we try to escape, Watto has the controls to them if we just left he would just blow us up, we don't even know where they are in our bodies." I just gave a short chuckle to her words before saying, "You forget, I can use the force, I've already disabled both of them, both yours and Anakins. Tomorrow after the storm settles we will return to my ship with your belongings after my droids collect your stuff." She was obviously skeptical of my claim but chose to believe in my 'space magic'.

"Alright, now that all that's done with, I will go meditate and then sleep, I will see you in the morning, Miss Skywalker." I said as I stood up from the table and walked towards a small bench-like seat attached to the wall, I heard Shimi speak from the table, "Please, call me Shimi." I glanced back at her and gave a smile, "Sure thing, Goodnight Shimi."

She gave a soft smile of her own and said, "Good night, Wolfe." as she headed off to retrieve Anakin and presumably tell him the good news. I settled onto the sofa Esque bench and began meditating and using the force to move my intent all the way to Watto's shop and after a bit of searching found the two slave controllers in a small safe, unlocking it with the force and pulling them out and across the city, and through the window to my hand, I pocketed them, just in case.
