Chapter 76: Meeting
Wreck's POV
The Kingdom of Thrile? Why are they suddenly making a move? Are they doing these in purpose?
"Alright, what did you notice in the perimeter? Did you scout the numbers?" I asked Bubba.
"We are not sure about the numbers but our estimation would probably be about 40 to 50 men" Bubba replied.
50? That is a lot!! They probably have a purpose for their sudden arrival.
"Any more information you can provide?"
"Other than the fact that they arrived via some ships, that is all we can give you currently sir."
So we currently have a situation. About 50 men from another kingdom located south of ours suddenly appeared at the southernmost part of our land in the middle of the night. We also need to remember that they are the eternal enemies of the Kingdom that we are allied with. Even though they aren't currently hostile, I still cannot deny that I feel that they are planning something. As the leader of a nation, I have no choice but to prepare for the worst.
"Do you have any orders, sir?" Bubba asked.
"Bubba, I need to you order your men to notify every Assembly member that tomorrow we will be having an emergency meeting. You need to invite all the Great Generals of the army. Fill them in with the situation. Finally, make sure to continue monitoring the situation with the soldiers in the south. That is all, you may now go."
"Yes Sir!" Bubba declared and then flew out of the room.
Now that trouble seems near, I better prepare myself for a whole new challenge.
-THE NEXT DAY-
-MEETING HALL, UNION BUILDING, CRIMSON CITY, MUDLAND UNION-
I am currently standing at the front of the huge table as I wait for the arrival of all the people invited for this emergency meeting. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, I think we are complete.
"Rael, check the attendance please," I ordered Rael, who is currently acting as the secretary for the meeting.
"Yes, sir," Rael replied then proceeded to start the attendance.
After waiting for the attendance to be finished, I then started the meeting.
"Alright, since everyone that was invited is here, let us start the discussion. As we all know, The Kingdom of Thrile has sent about 50 men down south, and as the allies of the Kingdom of Zione, we have to discuss how we should take this matter. Before we discuss our decisions, let us first hear the latest updates from our scouts. Bubba, please take the stage."
Bubba nodded then proceeded to walk towards the front.
"The members of my squad are still currently monitoring the situation and the latest update we have received is that the men that arrived yesterday are currently building a type of shelter and a mini-dock so we are expecting that they are probably setting up for more arrivals soon. That is all that I can give you."
"Thanks for the update, Bubba. You may now go back to your seat. Now that we already know the updates, raise your hands if you have any opinions and suggestions regarding this matter."
Everyone was silent at first but suddenly, Gald raised his hands.
"We should prepare the army and drive them out of the land!!!" Gald suggested but his ridiculous received a lot of responses.
"That is a dumb idea!"
"You better think again!'
"We should definitely mot do that!"
"Alright, alright!! Calm down!! I mean it is not a bad idea, right? We have a strong army with strong leaders such as Wreck, Madame Laur, and of course me!" Gald replied.
"That is still a very irresponsible thing to do! We should not engage with an opponent clearly stronger than us!" Tran told Gald.
"I agree with the response of Sir Tran. In fact, I have a suggestion." Head Executive Mello proclaimed.
"What is it, Mello?" I asked.
"Why don't we settle for some negotiations? Peace talks to be exact."
Mello's suggestion made everyone in the room silent to think.
"Why don't you elaborate on your plan?" I ordered.
Mello then walked towards the front of everyone.
"With pleasure, Chairman. Let me tell you why we should settle for peace talks. First, it has a lot of benefits. The main benefit of these talks is of course the fact that we have avoided physical altercation in order to finish conflict. It is a big win for us if we can settle this without losing a single drop of blood. Next, we are also at a disadvantage. I strongly oppose the idea of Sir Gald because we are clearly a disadvantage against the Kingdom of Thrile when it comes to armed conflict. They are a way bigger nation with a very deep history in comparison to our nation who is barely 1 year old. We also need to remember the fact that we are still on the hangover after the Union Festival. Most of our troops are wasted. I say we should proceed with this idea. If you have any problems with my proposal, then feel free to tell me and I am willing to listen." Mello argued to the assembly.
Wow. That was a really great speech. I knew that it was the right call on hiring this guy. His skills are on point!
"Alright if you have any more suggestio-!"
"Excuse me Chairman, but I still have another argument," Mello told me.
"Alright, let us hear it."
"Before anyone forgets, do you guys remember how this Union was formed? It was through a series of talks between the leaders! Everything can be resolved through some proper discussion. And lastly, before Chairman Wreck was known for his leadership and his fighting skills, he was first known for his sweet talks and quick thinking. Negotiations are his comfort zone. There, I rest my case."
After talking, Mello went back to his chair and sat down.
"Thank you, Chief Executive Mello. Does anyone else have suggestions? If not then let us have a voting process in order to decide our next move."
Everyone was silent.
"I will take that as a no. Now let us proceed to the voting session. If you are in favor of engaging in a physical conflict with the Men from Thrile, raise your arms."
After talking, all I saw was 2 arms in the air. Gald and Great General of Gaorus named Phinny who looks like he was forced by his superior.
"Alright, that is two votes for Gald's proposal. Now, if you would like for us to proceed for peaceful negotiations with the people of Thrile, then raise your arms."
Everyone else in the room raised their arms just like expected. Gald's face looks so defeated which is kind of funny.
"And with the power of voting, the Mudland Union has decided to perform Peace Talks with the Kingdom of Thrile," I announced with everyone but Gald clapping.
"Now that we have a decision, let us decide who we will be sending and when will we be going to their area." Tran declared.
"I agree with Tran. The people that we are going to send are going to be important in order to dictate our future with the Thrile." Laur added.
"Now that we are on the discussion, I would like the Head Executive to suggest some names since he was the one that proposed this idea." Mayor Sais suggested.
"With pleasure, Mayor. Right off the top of my head, the ideal members will be Chairman Wreck at the helm with Sir Tran as his assistant."
"I like the acknowledgment, but I respectfully decline the offer. I don't think I fit the position as an assistant for peace talks as the Vice-Commander of the Army and as an Ogre." Tran declared.
'Then who would you like to nominate for that position, Tran?" Chief Well asked.
"I believe the Head Executive deserves that spot. We all know that after Chairman Wreck, he is the best when it comes to negotiations and knowledge. Plus he also has enough experience when it comes to foreign affairs so I think my suggestion is right." Tran replied.
"I agree," I added to Tran's statement.
Everyone seems convinced with those words so Mello is added to the team.
"Moving on with the members, I believe we need a final member coming from the Assembly with veteran experience so I would like to choose from Mayor Sais and Chief Well. If any of you wants to join then tell us." Mello continued.
The two men mentioned were staring for a while. Looks like neither one of them wants to join but suddenly Mayor Sais talked.
"I believe Chief Well is needed for the Group. He will be guiding our younger members through his veteran presence plus he has experienced a lot of conflict throughout his life. He has fended the enemies and protected their land against invaders, unlike us Minotaurs who have less experience when it comes to that field."
Everyone in the room was convinced so Chief Well has no choice but to accept the offer.
"The last members that we will be adding will be 2 Great generals from the army. Any volunteers?"
I thought no one was willing to raise their hands but I was wrong.
"Me! Me! I want to join!!" the ogre from the back proclaimed.
"Alright, calm down and come to the front and tell us why would you deserve a spot for the negotiations?" Mello asked strictly.
The ogre swiftly ran towards the front and said.
"No problem! My name is Kaji. I am an ogre and I am the Great General of the Rhine City Army. I believe that the team needs me because I am strong and powerful! I am also a very happy person! HAHAHAHHA!!!"
Okay, this guy is pretty weird but he is kind of cool. Just like Gald, he has a very outgoing person, but he has a different vibe. Gald gives off a very powerful individual but this guy gives very positive energy to everyone. I can see why he was chosen by Tran as the general because he has the charisma.
"Alright, you are in," I told him.
"YESSSSSS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH CHAIRMAN!!" The big ogre replied as he hugged me.
"Alright, no need to be an emotional big guy. Any other volunteers?" Mello asked.
"Uhmm, chairman?" Mayor Wiro raised his arm.
"What is it, Mayor?"
"I would like to recommend my Great General. His name is Everett and I believe he belongs to this mission."
"Why do you say so, mayor?"
"Everett is a very wise individual. He has great judgment when it comes to conflict and in case a conflict may arise, I believe he is an asset. I also need him to gain more experience as a leader."
"Alright, if the Mayor says so, Great General Everett is added to the team. Sir Everett, would you mind coming in the front?" Mello said.
A lanky man from the back row walked towards us.
"Hi. My name is Everett. Thanks."
So this man is a direct opposite to General Kaji? What a weird set of new generals. Wait, now that we are talking about new generals, all the members are new! I feel like we need a veteran general in the team.
"Mello, we should add Kirth on the team. We need more warriors in case the battle happens."
"Alright, so General Kirth is added to the list. After the selection process, here is the final list! Chairman Wreck Crimson, Head Executive Mello Lasterson, Chief Well, General Kaji, General Everett, and General Kirth. Any objections?"
No one replied. But all of a sudden Bubba who went out a while ago suddenly flew in.
"Sorry for the interruptions but we have some new information Chairman!" Bubba proclaimed.
"Calm down Bubba and tell us what it is," Laur asked.
"I am sorry madame. The information that I am going to tell you is about the leader of the group from Thrile!"
Leader? Then it must be someone important.
"Proceed," I ordered.
"My men heard the name of the leader and it is Larry, a prince from the Kingdom of Thrile!!"
