Chapter 57: I'll do it tomorrow

From the other side of a translucent barrier I look attentively at my prototype lightning blade.

Prototype K-27, first of its kind to have a somewhat stable blade.

The K is for Kakashi, as it is his chakra powering the thing.

Unfortunately my chakra converter isn't of the same caliber as Tobirama's, so no powering the prototype myself.

Only two chakra nature's work with my prototype, lighting release, and water release. The other three affinities don't convert properly, and will likely damage the seal itself.

Water is also kinda iffy but it does work, but I wouldn't use it.

Returning my attention to the prototype I held my hand up, slowly a barrier manifested within the barrier cube above the blade. Lowering the barrier I watched as the instant the two made contact, the prototype shut off.

Letting out a disappointed breath I disconnect Kakashi's chakra from the prototype before removing the barriers.

I'm fairly confident the issue is with the magnetic field, now whether the magnetic field itself is malfunctioning or some other part is interfering causing the failure I do not know.

I still have some time before my next deadline with the Uchiha, so I'll see if I can fix this issue. And if not no worries, I'm certain Fugaku will be satisfied with my progress.

When it comes to shinobi shops. Typically they will primarily focus on weapons or outfits, with some overlap varying from shop to shop.

The one I was in right now was primarily focused on belts, pouches, and jackets with really high collars. They had other stuff of course, but it was mostly those three things.

I was in search of a replacement for my tool pouch.

Something with more pockets, I plan to expand my list of stuff to throw at my problems.

Picking up a rectangular pouch ment for a book I took off my pack and pulled out one of my note taking journals before sliding it into the pouch.

A perfect fit.

But do I really need quick and easy access to a book?

I suppose that would really depend on the situation, and to a lesser extent the book.

Going over the potential uses in my head I can't think of any reason I really would need this.

As a shinobi.

But let's say I'm not a shinobi and just a fuinjutsu practitioner who has lots of ideas.

Now I can see myself wearing this.

Having successfully sold myself of the product I add it to the two other products I was purchasing.

A tool pouch of similar size and utility to my previous one, as much as I love my first one, I've been using it for years at this point, about time I let them rest in the closet full of Sakumo's shinobi stuff.

And a belt, with lots of smaller pouches.

Happy with my three items I approached the man behind the counter who was wearing a long coat, with a collar so high I couldn't see the bottom half of his face.

Only two words were spoken during our interactions.

The price,

And a thank you, of which he responded with a simple nod before we parted.

I didn't go home right away.

Instead I found a nice secluded forestry area where I sat in the sun and transferred the contents of one pouch to another.

It was a nice.

"Thank you for your service my reliable friend," I said, holding the worn tool pouch.

"Talking to your gear I see, should I be concerned?" Said Orochimaru, who was directly behind me.

To my credit I only froze up for a moment before regaining my composure

"Sensei!" I half yelled as I shot up from my sitting position, "You're not dead."

There was a few seconds of silence as we stared one other in the eyes.

"Your faith in me is insulting," Orochimaru commented before he turned to leave.

Quickly gathering my things I took my position a few steps behind him.

With Orochimaru's return I figured it was about time I resumed team training.

At the beginning of my free time, which originally was supposed to be three months, I told my fellow members of team Orochimaru we weren't going to have team training for some time.

But those days are over.

Raising my hand I knock on Anko's apartment.

No answer.

Didn't even move either, probably asleep.

I briefly considered banging on her door before dismissing the idea.

I'll just go get Taki first, hopefully she'll be up by time we return.

Hoping over the railing I make my way to Taki's house.

He wasn't home.

Apparently he's been staying with his uncle as he learns kenjutsu from him.

That's good.

I was told where he lived, but the amount of effort was beginning to exceed my level of commitment to rounding up my team.

Not like I had to do it today, tomorrow would work just as well.

With the knowledge of Taki's location and Anko's sleeping schedule I decided to try again tomorrow.
