Lan Xiang was excited.
He quickly opened the new menu. "So this is what the system has been up to!"
Two slots, presumably for techniques, appeared before him, with a plus sign in between, and an equal sign at the right, where a final slot was situated.
"Eh? I can change the sign? Other than addition, there's the three basic operations. Multiplication I can understand, but division and subtraction? Wouldn't that be... detrimental?"
Lan Xiang scratched his head. He decided to ignore those two for now.
"Time to test this out!"
He wasted no time in trying to think of two techniques to combine.
"Holy Palm" and "Furious Kick", two white level manuals he got from the old man.
Cost to synthesize: 20 t-pts.
"That cheap?? This is really exploitable."
He combined the techniques and got the end result: "Holy Sole".

"Ah, that was satisfying." He nodded his head. "About 30* tech points were wasted with that, but whatever. I at least know it works now."
He closed the menu for now, not knowing what else to synthesize.
"Now then, time to cultivate!"

Xie Dali opened the door once more and went inside the room. He crashed onto the sofa as he massaged his forehead full of wrinkles.
He composed himself, smiling at the displeased Doctor Guo who was waiting across him.
"So, where is my patient?"
"H, he will be here shortly."
He was really anxious. What if the doctor gave up on his father? Then his father would really die. His pillar of support would disappear.
One of the main reasons why the Xie family's pill technique and pill recipes hadn't been stolen was Xie Gang. He was seen by the other families as a massive pain in the arsehole because he was known to be in the 15th level, Adolescent Soul Realm, one of the highest in the country, if not the whole world.
Even now, in his weakened state, he still retained a cultivation of the 12th level, Domain Realm. That was why the other big families were hesitant to make a move on the Xie family, even though the head's cultivation was only at Level 6, Attribution Form.

Doctor Guo looked around the house. He crossed his legs as a show of impatience. He shook his wrist before looking at his watch.
...He's looking at his watch!
While Xie Dali was panicking, a butler ran inside the room full of sweat. He caught his breath for a few moments as he spoke.
"Master, the old master is outside the door."
Xie Dali abruptly stood up, but remembered that Doctor Guo was here. "Tell him to come to this room, quick! Doctor Guo doesn't have all day!"
A couple minutes later, Xie Dali heard his father's voice complaining and shouting. He shook his head in disapproval.
Doctor Guo was dumbfounded. What gives you the right to be so disappointed in your father's rambunctious attitude when you are the exact same?
The door opened.
"Father... What, what the hell?!"
Xie Gang entered the room, his tall figure leaving everyone breathless.
Doctor Guo raised his eyebrows. He pulled his glasses off, wiped them for a bit, and wore them again. His sight was the same as before.
As Xie Dali was about to speak, Doctor Guo seemed more enthusiastic and approached Xie Gang. "Mr. Xie, welcome, welcome!"
What are you saying "welcome" for, this is not your home! Xie Dali glared at Doctor Guo, but the latter didn't seem to notice, or just straight up ignored him.
"Ah, doctor." Xie Gang grinned.
Doctor Guo led Xie Gang to a seat. He checked up on all his vital signs, but there was seemingly nothing wrong with them.
Xie Gang looked as if he knew that this would happen.
"This, this is a miracle! All signs of QDD are gone!" Doctor Guo's eyes sparkled as he saw the results of his tests. "Even your cultivation went back to its peak!"
Xie Dali overheard this and was elated.
"Mr. Xie, if I may ask, how did the disease disappear?"
No matter how much Doctor Guo made sense of it in his mind, he simply could not comprehend QDD, an incurable disease, to just go away like that on its own. Therefore, the solution must be involved with what Xie Gang did this past month that he wasn't here!
"Hm, I should be the one asking you that."
Xie Gang did not intend to disclose Lan Xiang's treatment of his disease. Otherwise, he might be arrested for medical malpractice!
Of course, it wasn't that he didn't empathize with other victims of QDD. He needed to ask for permission from Lan Xiang first if he wanted to tell someone else about him.
For now, it would remain a secret.
"Ah? You don't know how it went away?" Doctor Guo scratched his head.
"Well, there was this advertisement I saw on the internet about essential oils..."

In the end, the doctor could only leave without an answer. It would perhaps confound him forever how an incurable and deadly disease miraculously disappeared from one of his patients.
As the nuisance was finally gone, Xie Dali's eyes lit up.
"Father, your disease is gone? That's great!" His eyes were full of greed.
"What do you want?" Xie Gang had long realized that putting his greedily ambitious son into power was a mistake. However, as the father, it was not right for him to remove his son from this position as it was his decision to put him there in the first place.
"I, uh, I need your help with something!" Xie Dali only realized at that moment that his father was not one to meddle in the family's affairs anymore.
"Well, even if my father does refuse to help me, I can use his recovery to scare that Lan Feiluo into submission!"
"What do you need my help with?"
"You see, I want to join forces with the Ning family."
Xie Gang listened patiently. Since he had just recovered and was in a happy mood, he might as well do his son one favor.
"They want my daughter to marry their young master, Ning Luoxue."
Xie Gang flinched.
"But, she's already engaged. So, I wanted to cancel her engagement with the Lan family.

Before he could finish his sentence, he felt intense pain coming from his stomach. His father... had punched him?
"What did you just say?" Xie Gang's eyes were cold, almost as if he wasn't looking at his own son.
Xie Dali fell onto his knees, coughing up blood. He faced the floor, not having the courage to look up to his father. "Wh, what's wrong with what I said, father?"
"Repeat that last part for me."
Xie Dali shivered, hearing his father's cold voice. "Jianjian is being forced to marry the piece of tras--"
Xie Gang slapped Xie Dali on his cheek!
Xie Dali spit out a tooth, his cheek aching red.
"From now on, don't ever talk about canceling Little Jian's engagement with my grandson-in-law." Xie Gang walked away solemnly, leaving Xie Dali helpless.
He stood up, barely maintaining his balance. Patting off the dust on his clothes, he looked left and right.
"What are you lot doing, dillydallying around?! Get back to work!"
