Chapter 33: For the Tribe...

It has been five days since Alicia and co. set off on their small journey to meet the Lizard people just outside of the mountain range. To leave the mountain range, and Alicia's territory, they need to go down a forested decline. The forest that reached to in front of Valen stretched all the way down this decline and into the valleys below the mountain range.

"Lady Alicia, Ignis, are you ready to leave?" Vera asked her sleepy-eyed Queen and Knight as they both struggled to deal with the constant super early mornings.

"Yesss, now I have Alicia's drool off my tail I am anyway…" Ignis says as she gives her Queen a irritated side glance.

"Hehe I said I was sorry Ignis, you really need to lighten up a little." Alicia says with her hands behind her head grinning.

"I don't need to lighten up! You need to stop being so clingy when you sleep…"

What Ignis was referring to happened during the night. One of them always sat watch during the night in case a feral monster came and attacked them. Feral monsters are those without reasoning and intelligence. For instance, the unevolved ants that make up Terre's minions would be classed as feral if Terre was not controlling them.

Anyway, Vera had switched with Ignis for the last watch of the night as she had for the last five days. Vera liked to be up early to practice with her swords, as she was a dual wielding Knight, as well as hunt for some breakfast before we got up.

As Ignis was laying down to go to sleep, one of her fluffy tails brushed against the sleeping Alicia. Ignis, being very tired, did not notice that the tail had slightly awoken Alicia, though not enough to wake Alicia up completely, her tail did wake Alicia up enough to realise that something fluffy was near.

She reached out to feel and search for the fluffiness and latched onto it when she found Ignis' tail. Then, there they lay until morning with Alicia cuddling Ignis' tail and Ignis being none the wiser.

The embarrassing thing for Ignis was that when she started to wake up, the cuddling and stroking on her tail felt really nice and she let out some strange satisfied noises… that Vera heard.

"You can sleep at the other side of the camp tomorrow night-HIII!" Ignis suddenly feels the same sensation on her tail again and turns around to see the culprit.

"Fufu so fluffy…"

"ALICIAAAAAAAAAA!"

---

It was morning and the three are just setting off again to search for the Lizard people after the hectic events of slightly earlier.

"Okay, so according to the report, and the mapping that the adventurers were helping with, they met them a bit further back. So hopefully we may be able to meet them around here…" Vera says while staring at the map and report that Noa had given her.

Another part of the Adventurers, who met the Lizardmen, mission was to guard a one of the potential teachers as they tried to draw a map of Drakonia as well as the surrounding areas. Although the map was rather crude, considering that they had not been drawing maps for very long, it was good.

"Okay, lets get moving to search a bit further down… Hmm?" Alicia quickly spun around and stared into the dark forest behind them.

"What's wrong Alicia?"

"My Lady?"

Both Vera and Ignis turned to Alicia, puzzled as to why she turned so quickly. They looked at where she was staring, but they could not see anything, which was not surprising as it was so dark inside places of the forest.

"Do you see something my Lady?" Vera inquires again as Alicia did not answer, just concentrating an intense gaze on the forest until…

"Hmph, maybe it was nothing. Sorry guys, I thought something was watching us for a moment but turns out I was wrong haha." Alicia says, finally going back to the normal attitude they knew.

Ignis and Vera still had slight concerns regarding what she just said, but they decided to leave it at that as Alicia had the sharpest senses among them when she wanted to.

They then set off and continued on through the forest. Meanwhile...

"Ryuuuu…" A small set of eyes peer out of a nearby bush at the group that just left…

---

A few hours later.

"Urghh I wish these Lizards would just hurry up and show themselves. I just want to head back, relax and eat some good food. They were really starting to make some cool meals from those old books you know…" Ignis says, complaining and making idle conversation as they walked.

"I am looking forward to seeing what else they have come up with when we get back as well, but you need to savour this experience Ignis!" Alicia says, then points at Ignis accusatorily…

"I will not have you being a downer on my first trip out of the territory!" She says with a serious face on.

"Yeah, yeah I know…" Ignis says in a non-committal tone, though this seems to have convinced Alicia as she turns back around and continues striding forwards through the over growth.

...

After a little more walking they begin to hear sounds…

*boom* *boom*

The three of them stopped and listened closer, to them it sounded like explosions as well as the sound of weapons clashing together.

"Do you think it could be them Vera?" Alicia turns to Vera and asks.

She looks at the map that she has in her hands, then looks to where the noises sounded like they were coming from.

"Yes, it is not to far from where the adventurers met the Lizardmen, so I think the possibility is pretty good that it is them." Vera says with a nod.

"Okay great, lets get moving and see what is going on!"

"Right!" Ignis and Vera both shout and follow Alicia to the source of the noises.

Meanwhile behind them in the bushes…

"Ryuuu? Ryu ryu…" The small eyes peer out of a nearby bush again and pair of small fluffy rounded ears pop out from the top of its hiding place…

---

Lizaria Lake.

"Damn it! Everyone retreat back from here! Shakal and everyone else, take the non-combatants away from here NOW!" A large lizard shouts back at his subordinates, then looks across his home that has now become the battlefield.

"Yes Kaal!" The subordinates run of to gather everyone and escape.

There were bodies scattered everywhere of his fellow Lizardmen who were caught unawares by this sudden and unprovoked attack, from THEM. Kaal turns to look at the enemy and perpetrators of this attack.

Humans.

"HAHAHAHA STUPID LIZARDS! AH WHAT A GREAT DAY TO COME OUT AND KILL SOME MONSTERS ISNT THAT RIGHT EVERYBODY!" A handsome blonde-haired young man shouts to people around him.

This blonde one seemed to be the ringleader. He was dressed in a full body, a part from the helmet he carried in his hands, fancy black and gold suit of armour with a diamond encrusted sword dangling at his waist. It looked like it served more as a decoration then as something that could be used in battle.

"Gigigi Indeed King Alistair! What a glorious day it is!" A thin man with a pencil moustache who stood next to him shouted in agreement.

Other subordinates who stood next him all agreed, though none of them were actually doing any of the fighting. That duty was left to these strong ones in front of Kaal.

All in all, there were three humans who were fighting. The first one was a large muscular man, who stood around seven-foot-tall with a giant axe hanging over his shoulder. He had long black hair that flowed down his back and covered the front of his face. He wore light leather armour which let him easily move and swing his humongous axe around.

The second was a woman with shortish white hair that stopped at her shoulders and in her hair, she wore a red rose ornament. Her weapon was a large long bow that seemed to big for her to pull back due to her rather frail looking appearance. But during the initial attack, she easily drew it back and fired multiple arrows at the Lizardmen which, when they landed, sent them flying back. The woman wore a beautiful white and red kimono that was decorated with patterns of roses of a white background.

Then finally, there was the one who was the most dangerous. He wore a very worn out yukata and a jingasa on his head. Hanging on his waist was a katana, and although it was sheathed you could tell from his aura he knew how to use it. He looked like a middle aged man who was rather unkempt, with a slight stubble and messy dark brown hair.

Kaal stood across from the three who had come and started massacring the people of his tribe. He clenched his two sabre type blades, and prepared to fight the three humans to buy time for his people. Unexpectedly though, the man in middle opened his mouth to speak…

"Sorry, we can't let you go anywhere… Not after what you did to those villages…" The unkempt man says while slowly drawing his blade, which looked like a signal as the other two humans then began to ready their weapons.

Kaal was confused though…

[Villages? What villages is he talking about?] He had not anywhere near a human village before. He always kept his tribe as far from them as he could to try and keep out of trouble.

"Human warrior! I do not understand, I have never been to a human village before!" Kaal shouted out to them, trying to reason with them. Failing that, at least buy some more time for the others to escape…

"LIES! DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM DAICHI, YOU SAW THE VILLAGES WITH YOUR OWN EYES DID YOU NOT! THERE WERE LIZARDMEN PICKING AT THE CORPSES WHEN WE ARRIVED AND YOU ARE THE ONLY LIZARDMEN GROUP THAT WE KNOW OF AROUND HERE!" The one identified by his subordinates as King Alistair shouted while pointing at Kaal.

The shouting made Daichi turn and face the King for a moment, thinking about what he saw before closing his eyes in pain remembering what he saw.

"… He is right… you are the only ones that are around here… monsters…" Hate started to grow in the one known as Daichi's eyes, as so does it in the white haired woman's eyes and the large man starts to shake with anger.

Daichi suddenly jumps forward with incredible speed and fully unsheathes his blade to go to slice through the Lizardman. Kaal just barely reacts in time and brings his two blades up to block the slice, though it knocks him back some way.

Kaal breathes a sigh of relief but this was no time to let his guard down as Daichi quickly goes for a second attack. He was ready this time as he parries once again but is also sent back again, his back slamming into a nearby tree. Kaal then has to duck as the swordsman once again swings his katana, slicing straight through the tree.

[Now's my chance!] Kaal sees his opportunity as he looks up and sees Daichi still in his swinging motion and goes for an attack himself. However…

"Argghhhh!" He shouts out in pain and rolls away dodging another swing of the blade.

He looks down at his leg, the source of the pain, and sees a large arrow sticking out of it. He turns his gaze quickly towards the woman, who had clearly fired the arrow as she was just leaving her drawing stance.

"Damn it…" Kaal muttered out loud, he wondered how he could possibly fight off the two of them at the same time. It was impossible. He could not defeat any of them one on one even.

"ARGHHHHHHHH!" His attention was suddenly brought somewhere else though, as the giant roared and charged at him with his massive battle axe raised.

*BOOM*

Kaal managed to dodge yet again, but the huge impact from the axe hitting the ground blew him away yet again. As he tried to get up, the staff of the axe came out of the dust and whacked him in the ribs, sending him flying, doing a lot of damage.

He lands some way away from the giant, but as he looked up he saw all three of them advancing towards him.

*Cough, cough*

Kaal begins to cough up a lot blood. His ribs were shattered, and he could barely move.

[Shit… hopefully I have given everyone enough time to escape from these freaks…]

Daichi, the giant and the white-haired woman, stop right in front of Kaal, he looks up to meet their cold gaze.

"Time to die… monster." Daichi says as he draws his blade and brings it above his head to swing down.

Kaal looks down and closes his eyes…

[I'm sorry everyone…]

Kaal hears the blade begin its decent…

"waahhh…"

But just before it decapitates him…

"waaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAH CAN'T STOP!"

A shout that grew rapidly louder as it got closer catches everyone's attention as they look towards the steep hill that led to mountain range.

"WAAAAHHH!"

"WAAAAAAAH STAWPPPP WAAAAAH!"

"WAAAAAAAH!" *THUD*

Then it appeared. A small red headed girl came rolling out of the foliage and landed heavily on the floor. Everyone thought she had knocked herself out thanks to the impact, but she then slowly got up while rubbing her head.

"OWWWWWW! Stupid tree root tripping me up as I was running… Damn, now Vera and Ignis are going to lecture me again…" The red head girl mumbled, not noticing the intense situation she had just rolled into.

The four of them just stared with amazement at her sudden appearance, seemingly out of nowhere…

"Hmmm? Who are you guys? My names Alicia, nice to meet you!" Finally, she realised that there were other people here and stood up, dusted herself off and introduced herself with a big smile.

At that moment, Kaal and Daichi were united in their thoughts…

[[What the hell is this kid doing here?]]
