Chapter 3: Take me home

Humans are weak-willed creatures.

When faced with adversity far beyond their comprehension, the only thing these weak-hearted creatures do is cry, beg, and lie.

They wouldn't hesitate to even step on their own and plunder ruthlessly for their selfish survival.

This was the concept that Mikel had experienced and understood about these so-called human beings all his life.

While this was the norm, the woman on his arms seemed to be... the exception.

Her spectacularly beautiful face shone in the moonlight like a pearl retrieved from the depths of the ocean.

"She definitely has to be an actress or a model." Mikel hypothesized in his mind.

Normally, his hunt wouldn't have been this random.

But today, he was escaping from his imprisonment and had gone without food for too long.

So when he sniffed that faint scent of blood from her, he couldn't control his hunger any longer and attacked the oblivious woman.

After all, it was not really that big of a deal. Nobody is killing anybody here.

He was just going to draw her blood a little bit and then smoothly erase all traces of his existence.

He had a solid plan. So it shouldn't even be an issue.

But this woman he randomly chose seemed particularly strong-willed.

She didn't cease fighting him even for an instant!!

Mikel's crimson eyes twinkled in the darkness as he gently whispered in her ears, "Do you love your life that much?"

He removed his hand that was gagging Jia's parched mouth.

The frightened woman immediately shrieked interrupting the dead silence of the dangerous night.

She now had had enough time to actually decipher what was going on.

In fact, it was crystal clear to her. Her entire life flashed in front of her eyes as an ominous feeling crept inside her heart.

She was going to be prey to this dangerous mythical creature, which should only exist in fiction and fantasy!

"I refuse to be your damn meal. This is not how my life is supposed to end." Huo Jia cried in the deserted street corner.

The man in front of her stopped. He hesitated, even at the cost of his discomfort.

This was a first for him. So he couldn't neglect the resolve shining in the eyes of the woman desperately bawling in front of him.

There was a fire within her that burned bright and furious.

Such an arcane will power to fight and survive! It simply spellbound him.

"Let me go please." She whimpered.

Though her voice sounded weak, the mysterious man knew that the woman in front of him was far from weak.

"I will pay you back this debt a hundred-fold. I will even be your blood bag for my entire life. But please... let me live..."

Her mesmerizing eyes pleaded the stranger in the night.

As opposed to her dismay, Mikel chuckled amusedly. After ten or so minutes he finally replied.

"Hmmm... That doesn't sound like a bad deal." He chuckled.

He would have just let her be... She could have just continued her normal uneventful life. But now...

Heh... Mikel chuckled, not being able to hold his laughter at the sight of the frightened lamb.

He was only used to women flocking towards him.

This frightened 'leave me alone expression' was a first for him.

Hunting live humans was a taboo in his family, but he had already crossed several boundaries. So what's one more?

Having a steady supply of blood in this new place also doesn't sound half bad.

He gently let her go.

Huo Jia staggered backward in fear. He let me go?

She quickly checked the sore spot on the neck, in case she was still bleeding.

The monster standing in front of her had actually drunk her blood.

Everything felt so surreal.

As she was fumbling about in fear, Mikel looked at the lost little lamb from top to bottom.

"Take me to your house." He enunciated his words since the woman in front of him still seemed to be in an anxious panicked mode.

"You... You will let me live?" Huo Jia couldn't believe what was happening in front of her.

Mikel gazed at her intently for a second and then decided to remain cautious.

"That depends on how you act." His threatening voice clearly meant business.

Huo Jia calmed herself and tried to catch a breath.

I am not in danger. I am not in danger. She mumbled to herself.

After a few minutes, the dangerous voice sounded again. "I am still waiting."

Mikel didn't want to be out in the open for long.

His family by now would have definitely sent someone after him.

In the wee hours of that abysmal morning, Huo Jia held her trembling hand and walked side by side with a mystical creature from the fables which had actually fed on her blood.

What the hell was happening to her life???

Where did her new beginning disappear??

Was she now a slave to this unknown monster?

She couldn't help but shudder in silence.
