Chapter 4: A Misunderstanding

It's four in the evening. I watch Joonwoo flawlessly cooked a six-star-rated meal as if he's cooking instant ramen. I was sitting on the stool, watching him without saying a word. Joonwoo also seemed to be deep in thought.

"... Why are you so good at everything?"

Joonwoo looked at me. He smirked as he slides a plate with delicious food toward my way. He even gave me a fork and spoon.

"Hm, I wonder," Joonwoo's vague answer made me frown.

"To piss me off?"

"That's one of the reasons,"

"Dickhead,"

Joonwoo chuckled. He sat on a stool beside me, grabbing his utensils and ready to dig in. I awkwardly ate one of the veggies. Woah, even the veggies are yummy.

It's irritating. He's just so good at anything. There's got to be something he can't do. He's a human after all.

"You're still a messy eater,"

"!"

I stopped breathing when his thumb is pressed on the corner of my lip. I looked at him with disbelief. My heart skipped a beat when I saw him casually licked off the sauce on his thumb. He continued eating as if nothing happened.

I looked back at my food.

"..."

"..."

"... GAH!?" I abruptly stood up from the stool and took a couple of steps away from him, while covering my mouth with my wrist.

He looked surprised at my sudden actions.

"W-W-What, What the hell?!"

"Hm?" Joonwoo asked innocently.

"You! don't play dumb! what are you trying to do there?" I glared daggers at him. Joonwoo wiped some of the sauce with a napkin placed on the counter. He stood up from the stool too.

I kept walking backward when he stepped closer to me.

"Ack—"

Curse this damn wall!

I'm completely cornered. Joonwoo kept decreasing our distance. Until he stood right in front of me. I need to arch my head up to meet his eyes. His piercing golden eyes are staring down at mine.

I gulped.

His scent— this overpowering alpha's scent. It's a natural reaction for an omega like me to feel defeated. I tried to ignore my instincts and kept glaring at him.

"... And you're still insensitive as ever, Seong Yoon,"

"I-I don't know what you're talking about," I stuttered.

I quietly yelped when Joonwoo's arm is placed on the wall beside my head. I tried to gulp down this dry lump on my throat.

He's too close.

Joonwoo leaned closer. My eyes started to shake. The scent emitted from him caused my head to get stuffy. I closed my eyes shut. Why am I closing my eyes? I'm supposed to punch him!

"Give me your number,"

"... Huh?"

I slowly opened my eyes, seeing Joonwoo smiling mischievously in front of my face.

I feel a twitch appeared on my cheek. I harshly pushed him away from me.

"Over my dead body!"

"Aw, I thought you would give me your number since I cooked for you," Joonwoo take a step back and shrugged his broad shoulders.

I gave him a disgusted look.

This guy is still sly as ever.

"... But don't contact me unless it's necessary," I muttered.

"Yes," Joonwoo smiled graciously.

I started to mention my number, and he wrote it down on his phone.

"I'll spam you,"

"I'm going to kill you," I tried to punch his chest playfully, but he grabbed my hand with ease. He smirked mischievously.

"With this noodle arms?"

"Ah!" I yelped when he pulled my arm easily, causing me to bumped into his chest.

This little sh-

𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨!

The two of us stopped our tracks when my phone suddenly ring. Joonwoo pulled me even closer, looking at me curiously.

"Who is it?"

"What the, it's none of your business," I let go of his grip on my wrist and picked up my phone.

"𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵? 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵?"

"..." I only sighed in defeat when I heard Beom's question. I could hear the booming music already. "No, I'm not,"

"𝘠𝘦𝘴! 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘏𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨,"

"You're totally going to miss me," I chuckled. From the corner of my eye, I saw Joonwoo is watching me. What's with that serious look?

I cleared my throat and looked away. "Just don't start a fire okay?"

"𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵! 𝘣𝘺𝘦 𝘏𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨!"

"Hm," I hummed and hung up. I pocketed the phone back to my hoodie.

I have to send money to Beom's account tomorrow so he could buy his own food. That little twerp. Hm? I feel like Joonwoo is still watching me. I looked at him.

"What?" I asked, furrowed my eyebrows at him.

Joonwoo's indecipherable look made me uncomfortable. But he changed it to his usual smirk.

"Nothing. I'll text you later,"

And with that, Joonwoo walked past me and head over to the door. I looked at him from behind. He closed the door behind him.

What was that all about?
