Chapter 2: Chapter 2

The birds chirp in the morning and the sun shines brightly. I wake up and get out of bed. I go downstairs and walk into the kitchen and make myself a coffee to get the day going. After drinking the coffee I need to freshen up and get ready to go to work, these days are one of the most important days of my life because I'm going to be retiring, not just from my work but from this world entirely. As I've explained that the path of my family has brought me to this very decision that I have to make.

My parents had me to raise so they didn't go away until I could live on my own and I respect their decision of staying with me. I take the cup of coffee in my hands and just remember the past, the happy childhood memories I had with them, they made me the happiest and I wish they are somewhere out there, safe and sound, happily living with no worries. I finish the cup of coffee and put it in the dishwasher. I should probably get ready. I brush, shave and take a refreshing bath. After I change, I go down and make myself something to eat. Since I've been living alone, I had learnt how to cook for myself and just a side note, I cook very well and I'm proud of it. I take the food onto a plate and take a seat at the table with the newspaper in to read alongside.

The news is quite the same as usual and so is the weather outside, it's snowing slightly and I see on the newspaper that I have been mentioned. Let's see "The Renowned Blacksmith Is Retiring", well I guess everyone knows about it now. I mean I'm by no means hiding my retirement from others and it would have been surprising if no one knew about it but I have got one last order to take care of before retiring. I finish eating and go to the entrance, I put on my shoes, get outside and lock the front door.I often walk to the forge since I consider it to be healthy and besides, the forge is somewhat near to where I live and I get to greet my neighbours.

I walk down the street and it's still freezing even though I'm wearing a sweater, I see one of my neighbours, "Good morning" I greet them, "Good morning to you too, Linndon. I heard that you are going to be retiring soon?" He asked, "Yeah, I am. I'm going to be retiring in a few days." I say goodbye and continue to walk. Today I need to be delivering a royal order. Yes, the last order that I took was directly from the Majesty and what I needed to make was a sword.

My family was focused on the job of blacksmiths and were taught to forge anything into perfection and most importantly we focused more on forging weapons. And we don't just make for anyone, the blacksmiths who are Linndon family members usually only take custom orders and is made with unique style and precision. That's why I only do custom orders and my last request for an order couldn't have been refused obviously. It is an honour to be forging and creating a unique piece of weapon for the royal family. My family had done it before, so it is not rare for the royal family to order a weapon or anything of sort from me. Our family was called personal blacksmiths' of the royal family by the people and the royal family even agreed for our to be their personal blacksmiths' but my family refused to do so since they only go by the name The Linndon's forge and was available to all, but still we are indeed like personal blacksmiths' to the royal family. The Majesty is well respected by the Linndon family, since the Majesty is aware of secret of the Linndon crystal and missing cases of my family members, atleast that's what my parents told me.

When my parents went missing, the people wanted to search for them since they had done a lot for the people and the country in many ways but the search was was halted after a while by the Majesty and people weren't allowed to question, the same thing happened with my grandparents. The Majesty visited me once and we talked about this and I could tell that she wanted to help me by halting the search and I was grateful for that. After many years of taking custom orders and orders from the royal family I had decided to retire and that's when the Majesty wanted to make one last order and of course, I took it.

I reach the forge and it's 9 in the morning and I only have some tiny details to finish on the sword but I'll finish it fast, in case the Majesty arrives early. Yes, she's going to arrive in person because it's more or less like a tradition for the royal family to receive their order in person from the Linndon family. I walk into my office and I find the paperwork that I had filled up and finished in order to pass the ownership of the forge to the next person whom I'm picking to be in charge and keep this old place up and running.

I look through the window of my office and see the workers forging and doing their work precisely and on time, "They are still doing a great job" I say to myself, I'm quite proud of them. I feel sad that I'm going to be leaving them but, I think they'll do more than just fine on their own. I look at the place and I'm reminded that this is the place where I spent most of my childhood, where I learnt to forge for the first time, where I would come to see dad working and how I used to try to help him, this is where I spent most of my life and this is what makes me happy. This place is basically my second home and today, I need to say goodbye to it.
