Chapter 25: Press Conference
They busied themselves in the kitchen, more like Liu Wei enjoying the view of a gorgeous hunk displaying his amazing culinary skills, while she sat on the counter salivating. Whether she was salivating over the food or the man, she no longer knew or cared.
The smell alone was making her stomach grumble, she couldn't wait to taste his cooking. Somehow she already knew that it was going to be exquisite. I mean this guy seemed to be good at everything, right? Was she privileged to be the first person to ever see this big CEO hot shot cook? And better yet, eat what he made?
Her ego boosted up a little, she mentally taunted all the previous women who were in his life. I bet, they never got to see this side of him… hehehe. A wide smile was seen on her lips, she looked so happy and lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize that Su Kai had been observing her facial expressions.
"You have a goofy grin, what good thoughts are you thinking about?" Su Kai asked.
"Oh nothing much… I was just wondering if you went to culinary school?" she said trying to divert the topic. Her mind can totally wander sometimes… ugh… I need to get it together.. act cool.. she coached herself.
"No…" he paused and didn't seem to want to elaborate. His expression showed that he was reminiscing about the past and a pained look flashed across his face. It was so quick but Liu Wei was still able to see it.
"My mother taught me…" he said after awhile…
Feeling the change in his mood, Liu Wei chose not to probe further. Everyone had their secrets and as much as she enjoyed her time with Su Kai, it was not her place to delve into his painful memories.
She knew that his mom was a subject that was hard for him to talk about, even though he didn't say it. He didn't need to voice it out as she could discern as much from his body language alone. It was like she could feel his pain exuding from him…
Perhaps when he was ready he would share that painful past with her, for now she was willing to wait for him.
Would there be a day like that? She shook her head to get her mind out of the future… she should live for today.
Yes… that's right~! her life is for the present. She will enjoy it, because tomorrow is never guaranteed. Isn't that why she accepted this outrageous contract? To experience life to the fullest?! as it could be snuffed out in the blink of an eye.
His pain must be as deep as hers… she thought and felt sad for him.
After a lovely dinner they watched a movie… but Su Kai's hands started roaming. Which ended up in the two of them going for a few more rounds of love making until the early hours of the morning.
She finally had to tell him to stop.. "I won't be able to walk in the morning if you continue to harass me~!"
"hahaha sorry, it's hard to keep my hands off of you. Go to sleep now then" And he positioned himself so that she was cradled in his embrace. She soon drifted into an uninterrupted sleep.
Little did she know, Su Kai was watching her sleep. He looked at her perfect features and couldn't help but kiss her lips.
"I will make you mine… for always.." he closed his eyes and went to sleep, contentment written all over his handsome face.
In the morning, Liu Wei woke up before Su Kai. She got ready and left him a note on the side table. She looked at his peaceful sleeping face and couldn't help but feel lucky to have accidentally met him on that fateful night.
She kissed him and left his home.
Instead of going back to the Liu Mansion, she went to her apartment. Changed her outfit and went straight to her office.
Just as she predicted Lu Hans parents agreed to her proposal. She had previously sent a folder to the hotel they were staying at. In it was $20K in US dollars and a note stipulating that if they agreed to her terms they would receive another $20K. They would become instant millionaires in their little tiny town. Since these two were greedy and selfish, the decision was easy to make and they quickly agreed to Liu Wei's deal.
Today was the day, a press conference was to be held at the W Hotel. Reporters were already inside and ready to record the big news. A tip was apparently sent via email to all the major news companies and major online influencers that a juicy tidbit was to be announced at a press conference at the W Hotel that day.
As word spread out a lot of other smaller news agencies also wanted a piece of the action so they sent their subordinates to cover the story as well.
So at the moment the reserved banquet room was brimming with people, their laptops and camera gears were all ready and set up. Their anticipation was building and it was infectious as the rest of the crowd was all on tinter hooks for this event.
"Do you think this is about a scandal with a major celebrity?" One reporter asks
"Could be, who knows… but I've never seen so many reporters in one room before. Whoever sent that email must be a big deal!
Liu Wei was pleased by the turn out. She was currently standing in the back watching and listening to the people and chatter in the room. She had arrived at the hotel only moments ago and now was surveying her creation. She was all in black, which made her look sophisticated and reserved. An elegant black bodycon dress with a gold zipper decorating it on the back from top to bottom was wrapped around her sexy body. A black mesh to cover her eyes and to give it that elegant allure and of course her signature high heels.
Even though she was standing in the back she still exuded an aura. A presence that couldn't be ignored, so people kept turning to look at her once in awhile but she just ignored their inquiring looks.
The moment everyone was waiting for finally arrived and a commotion was happening on the platform. An MC with a 3 piece suit calmly walks over to the center of the stage. He grabs the microphone and starts talking.
"Hello and welcome to todays press conference. I was hired to MC for today's event so I am not affiliated with any particular company. I would like to thank each and every one of you for coming and would like to emphasize that it will be an unforgettable day… your choice in coming will bear great results."
