Chapter 16: i'm becoming Rich!!

In the early stage, most users follow a similar path, so the intelligence guild classifies them into two groups – combat classes (melee and support) and crafting classes, including merchants.

On rare occasions, the guild reveals hidden classes. Very rare indeed.

"I'm only telling you this because you are... a trustworthy man who turned down the opportunity to convert to such a worthless class as an artist, a pinger. Tell me honestly, Volkner - do you regret not taking it?" the engraving brush?"

"No way, sir! Painter, I won't take it, come what may.

"Humph, I've never told anyone else this…you're the first man. Come closer."

The instructor's voice dropped to a low murmur. He spoke in a whisper close to Volkner's ear.

Volkner shivered as the orc-like instructor's breath brushed his face, but he kept his disgust in check.

"You're looking for a good class. I'll show you the way. Have you ever heard of Will the Wise?

"Yes sir."

"Go visit him. Praised as the Star of Wisdom, he is revered as a connoisseur of all things. He will tell you what profession suits you best, far better than a mere guild of intelligence. But..."

"…?"

"Trouble is, the Councilor is a weird fish. Worse enough, you never know where he's going to jump next. He's short-tempered, mischievous, and narrow-minded."

"…"

"You can't see him in person in the usual way. He won't bother listening to you in the first place. But if you give him that, he'll do you a favor, just once."

『Item: Mark of the Sacha King.』

"Thank you, Honorable Instructor."

"Not at all. I feel quite responsible for your decision because I can't deny that many sword warriors do worse than sculptors or moonlight artists. I pray to Arceus that you have a good lesson. Watch out for Councilor Will." He knows no shame, so you shouldn't tell him what you want until he talks to you."

As Volkner said goodbye to the instructor on the way out of the Training Center, a tall man approached him.

The giant's name was Cobra, a fearless warrior with a gigantic sword.

"Go away now?"

"Yea."

"Um, where are you going?"

"First I'm going to find a class and then I'm going to work hard to raise my level..."

"I'm sure you'll get to the top very quickly. I haven't seen anyone as steadfast as you in online games! Although I'm proud of how tough I am, you are literally a man of steel."

Cobra was a tall warrior with an Onix at LvL 72.

He had learned a new skill, so he came to the Training Center to try it out.

When he arrived at the hall, it was packed with a flurry of users, all of whom had gathered to watch Volkner.

Cobra was also a man of curiosity.

Some people mistook Volkner for an NPC, but when Cobra, squeezed through the crowd, heard that a user could improve stats in the Training Hall, he started hitting the scarecrow right next to Volkner.

The force that was released from Cobra's massive figure was shocking.

With a few more users joining the show, Cobra unintentionally diverted the public's attention away from Volkner.

In the last week, Cobra was the only user Volkner had spoken to so far.

"Thanks for the compliment."

"Anyway, I'm looking forward to it! The day we crossed paths. You won't let me down, will you?"

"You will be disappointed."

"Huh?"

"With your weakness, I am much stronger than you can imagine."

"Fahahahaha."

Snake laughed out loud. As his pokemon level was around 112, he ranked among the strongest and was treated with respect everywhere he went. He was intrigued by Volkner, who could make cutting remarks to the powerful.

Cobra's eyes narrowed a little more seriously.

"I'll be really looking forward to it."

"Be careful."

Volkner said goodbye to him and went to the mansion of Will the Wise.

"Will the Sage, the Star of Wisdom, is omnipotent in knowledge. He will give me guidance as to which class I should take," he told himself.

* * *

Councilor Will's mansion was located in the northern part of Pallet Town, close enough to see the sea view, and soldiers were on guard, circling the mansion.

As Volkner approached the gate, two soldiers shouted at him to stop.

"Stop! What's your business here, stranger?"

"I'm here to visit the Counselor. I have something for him that the instructor at the Training Center entrusted to me."

"It's too bad. I understand you have a business to take care of, but the Councilor doesn't expect anyone with such little fame," replied the soldier matter-of-factly.

"But I have an article that the instructor asked me to personally deliver to the Counselor."

"It's none of my business. Do you think you're allowed to visit His Highness just because you have something for him?

"…"

'Son of a bitch^@_÷^#.'

In short, it requires impressive reputation, or comparable fame, to visit kings or nobles and Volkner's fame was only 20, too low to enter the Councilor's mansion.

"Personally, I know the Training Room instructor very well. He once trained me with his bare hands. Still, I cannot allow him into the mansion.

"If you insist on it, can I stay here until I enter the mansion?"

The guards were perplexed by Volkner's question. "Be clear, traveler."

"I'm asking if you mind if I just sit outside and wait for the sage to come out?"

"No way." The soldier added nonchalantly: "The Street is open to all."

Volkner nodded slightly.

"Thank you for your permission"

"No way. But…"

"Forgiveness?"

"I'm telling you this because you know the instructor - the Councilor often locks himself in the mansion for a week or so. Especially when an unwanted visitor knocks on the door, he will definitely keep it closed. Are you still willing to wait for him?"

Luo Zhong visited Zheng Ling three times to recruit him, and he ended up being the cornerstone in the foundation of a new dynasty in the southwest. Remembering the famous episode, Volkner nodded.

"Yea."

Volkner crouched in front of the mansion, anticipating that the Councilor would appear any second. He sometimes chatted with the guards and soon learned that the instructor was well respected among the lower ranks.

"A man who once dreamed of a knighthood is now fully qualified for one."

Meanwhile, the night deepened and the Sage's mansion darkened.

"I'd be lying if I said I expected to get what I want on day one. He can't hide inside forever."

Volkner found it useless to stand guard over the mansion because the Councilor was sleeping. He withdrew from there and headed for the gate.

A moonlit night intensifies the monsters' brutality. They are half stronger and yield an extra thirty percent EXP. This causes users to pay extra attention to avoid the risk of death.

The sword given by the instructor was one of the best available to Volkner. He rocked her a few times, realized her balance was ideal and felt comfortable with it. Volkner checked the other weapon.

"Engraving Brush Statistics!"

『Sacha's Engraving Brush』

Durability: 984/1000

Damage: 10-25

A small engraving brush, built specifically for delicate work. This brush is very resistant.

Equip Increases your chances of landing a critical hit.

The engraving knife did more damage than the hard iron sword, but Volkner chose the latter. On the one hand, it was longer, thus reaching farther. With the engraving knife, he found it difficult to work on the enemy. The hard iron sword was more useful in terms of killing pokemons.

In addition, the brush and engraving did not wear out easily, thanks to its high durability. That advantage was transferred to Volkner. who obtained the repair skill, and the hard steel sword provided more opportunities to improve the repair skill because it was comparatively fragile, requiring frequent maintenance.

"Excellent. I think I'm ready to go." Volkner swung his iron sword. —Cartepie, weedle, ratata, come. I will take down and capture you all."

When you entered the Pokémon Online game, there was no tutorial on how to capture or tame pokemons. When you created your account you already had 5 Pokeballs in your inventory.

The moment he left to hunt his first...
