Chapter 583: To Come To An Agreement

Akiol wasn't about to speak pleasantries. Instead he cut to the chase, "I'm planning an assault on the undead."

Reverence frowned, "Undead. . . aren't they around Third Stage?"

As expected, being the vice-Leader of a top Guild came with its benefits. Naturally he was familiar with the info regarding the undead. Still Akiol casually explained his thinking, "After what happened to Goldlight, I figured it was time to strike back. So my goal is the Lich, not to wipe out the undead entirely."

"Never took you as the kind to take revenge."

Shrugging Akiol gave an excuse, "After our failure we were given a quest."

"Ah.", Reverence understood.

"As powerful I may be, I'm not arrogant. When dealing with the numerous and unceasing undead I know I alone would be overwhelmed. So, despite our bumpy history, I wanted to inform you ahead of time."

"You want my numbers."

Akiol nodded without hesitation.

Reverence shook his head, "As much as I wouldn't mind fulfilling a favor, something on this size isn't something I can convince easily."

"You misunderstand something.", Akiol cut him off.

Leaning forward Akiol spoke in a serious tone, "I'm not asking for help. I'm providing you an opportunity."

"Oh?"

"The undead, probably the largest army of humanoid monsters right? Also known as the only monster currently known to drop equipment? Of course this isn't without risks, after all we're going off what we know from Goldlight, which happened quite some time ago."

Reverence quickly did some calculations. Although the high leveled monsters of the undead were mostly Third Stage, it wasn't like the entire army was. Even if they were only given low tier armor for First Stage, the sheer quantity was tempting. After all compared to the expense of buying the mass produced equipment, this just required some effort in terms of battle. If they could monopolize it, their Guild would be massively more tempting than their competitors. Plus it would remove the burden on their expenses for expansion.

Leaning against a chair Reverence studied Akiol's expression. Although he didn't expect to learn anything from this, he was still disappointed in his unwavering gaze. Not willing to bow down entirely Reverence brought up some concerns, "That still leaves the Third Stage. We both know that their presence is something we can't overcome with number."

"I have some. . . talents in mind. Besides I'm positive a Guild of your caliber isn't lacking in a Third Stage expert here and there?", Akiol rose an eyebrow at the end of his sentence.

"So why me?"

"You're probably the only Guild person I know that I'm on relatively good terms with."

"I doubt this."

"I'm afraid my experience with Guilds has been quite sour, I tend to avoid them."

Reverence felt the corner of his lip twitch. Thinking of his past actions he couldn't help but criticize his past self.

"Even if you say this I don't think I can mobilize a force in this small of time."

"I have to reach Third Stage myself, we have roughly a few months ingame before I start the assault anyway."

"Okay so there's more time than I imagined, but even then Jumpstart Pavilion isn't enough to tackle the undead."

Akiol tapped his knee, "I'll have to leave that decision up to you. For me it doesn't matter either way. Whether or not you want to monopolize this chance is up to you."

"You want me to contact the other Guilds?"

Smiling at the question Akiol only answered mysteriously, "I said what I said."

". . . Alright, give me some time to think about it."

"That's fine, message me if you decide to agree. I have some preparation to do."

"Thank-", Reverence frowned.

Akiol suddenly vanished, there wasn't a trace of him even being here originally. Reverence scratched at his desk, "That guy became more ridiculous. Even with my stats I couldn't even see him move?", he snorted at the absurdity.

"I better consider this carefully then."

Travis moved the dirt aside, "This took way too long."

Averoth could only shrug helplessly, "How was I supposed to know that there was going to be Heresy rampant here?!"

Lifting something from the dirt Travis dusted off an old box. Slowly opening it a fraction of a coin lie inside. Averoth's face appeared next to Travis' as he inspected the coin, "Ah, it seems he has the other part still. That's troubling."

Travis frowned and picked up the coin piece. A series of system notifications appeared but Travis ignored them for now. Inspecting the coin piece he couldn't help but ask, "So this is what we've been looking for? This?"

"Hey! This is a very important thing to my legacy. Although it's junk if it's only in this half."

"Great, seems our time was well spent."

Averoth rolled his eyes, "Don't be so negative! What else were you going to spend this time doing?"

"Getting stronger."

"That's pointless until you realize the difference between you and that one guy."

"You're certainly not helping."

"You won't learn properly otherwise! Now onto the next objective."

Averoth's face turned grim, "This one is in the hands of the undead."

Travis frowned. The undead remained untouched in his memories. No one bothered to deal with them due to their overwhelming strength. It was said that their united force was the strongest force on the Mortal Plane. In comparison to the other realms they couldn't quite match. The Abyssal Royals could easily wipe them out, but it's not like Travis wanted to fight either end.

This day would have arrived eventually. Travis knew it long ago. As time passed he grew closer to the point where his knowledge wouldn't help anymore. There was only so much he could use from two years of knowledge. Everyday makes that event grow closer.

The event that he was betrayed in. An event that was tearing apart the central continent. A fight between Kingdoms and hidden powers. Guilds and adventurer groups. Everyone wanted the rewards the event gave, and because of it greed spun their decisions.

The opening of Averoth's vault.

Travis placed the coin piece into his inventory, "If we're going to the undead, I have to become stronger. There's no other way."

Averoth nodded on the side, "Even with that mask of yours, you won't go completely unnoticed. You'll need the strength to leave with your life."

"So I have to figure out the difference between me and Wrock."

"Who?"

"That guy you spoke of. I know a little about him."

"In that case you're exactly on track. The moment you figure it out your ascension should be smooth."

"Then I will figure it out, in one months time."

Averoth rose an eyebrow at such a bold statement but didn't comment. Instead he chuckled so softly Travis couldn't hear it, and then vanished by walking out of Travis' eyesight.
