Chapter 174: Power
The liquid was indeed literally boiling as it's more efficient the hotter it is. Hong Meilin however knows what's the limit and did what she would normally do to the other people that went here.
"Temperature is fine, the concentration is also fine, yet it is not enough? How far can you endure? I am so curious that I just want to do it at the maximum. Hopefully, you reach it, Mu Yue. It's the first time since I was born that this happened." Hong Meilin mumbled as she raised the temperature and concentration slowly.
The liquid was similar to a blood essence, and all of it was made to try and copy her creator's blood essence. Hong Meilin wishes to duplicate the drop of blood essence her creator made yet she can never do so even if she tries to have a lot of what she made.
This liquid is already what she accumulated during her entire lifetime minus the ones absorbed by the people that went here. Yet all of it has a lesser worth than the drop of blood she is currently hiding. If Mu Yue managed to reach her expectations, perhaps she can meet her creator with her help!
Mu Yue has now started to feel the pain but it was still endurable. Seeing this, Hong Meilin continued until it reached the maximum she can currently control.
"You exceeded my expectations Mu Yue! What you absorbed should be enough now. Normally I would be the one to stop it but I already did yet these blood essences continues to flow towards you... Haha... you can stop now..."
"I-it's impossible for you to absorb anymore you know..."
"Mu Yue, Stop! That's something I made during my entire lifetime of more than a thousand years. I'm going to make you feel more pain if you don't stop!"
"Please stop... you can absorb more of what I made in the future, just stop... You can now faint, please! I was lying that you were needed to be awake."
"You mother and daughter are truly alike... One tried to burn me and managed to lit up the beautiful leaves I grew for a hundred years... the other one is now draining me of my treasure... thankfully you liked a girl and there won't be a third one..."
"Mhm... you can absorb more I don't care... It will just take me some centuries if I focus on making it full again... "
Hong Meilin continued to talk until the words became incomprehensible. Ruan Xin was worried for her and approached her, "Are you alright?"
"Ah yes... is she done yet? I can't bear to look at my treasure that is disappearing fast..."
Ruan Xin looked at the lake that only has a quarter of the liquid remaining. However, the liquid was still flowing towards Mu Yue and seems to have no intention of stopping.
"It looks like it's almost done."
"Ah?" Hong Meilin looked at the lake and cried, "You tricked me! My precious treasure... Hey Xin Xin, when you did this, how much did you absorb?"
"Uhh, enough to fill a mold of an adult body."
"Why is your daughter absorbing so much? Was your husband a glutton? I swear that when he returns, I am gonna beat him so damn much and make her pay for the two of you!"
Mu Yue no longer felt any pain and she just felt that she was taking a regular bath. During the entire time, her eyes were closed. Now that it's over, she opened her eyes and was startled to see that the lake has now turned into a puddle.
"How nice of you to leave some, Mu Yue. You can absorb the remaining and I won't even be mad."
"Ok" Mu Yue dipped her hand to the puddle and all of it flowed to her hand and was absorbed.
"Xin Xin, you two leave this place... Mu Yue, before you leave the territory, I will talk to you. For now, leave me alone for a while." Hong Meilin's body slowly disappeared, she was now in energy-saving mode.
The two went out and stayed at a house nearby. Ruan Xin faced her daughter and asked, "How do you feel? You made Hong Meilin cry..."
"I feel great! My body also got stronger."
"That's all?"
"I think so"
"Hmm... there are probably some hidden benefits that you don't know yet. For now, what do you think of the phrase, 'With great power comes with great responsibility."
"I have read some storybooks and felt that the phrase only works on good people." Mu Yue replied.
"For us, we follow the reverse. 'With great responsibility comes with great power'. Your responsibility lies on you being a princess, and if you do well, power will come to you with the help of your subjects."
"Then what is my responsibility?"
"To live"
