Chapter 34: Sharing a bed
When Li jie raised his eyebrows and kept on staring at her, she closed her eyes and confessed "I asked aunt Gu and Mom helped me too Okay? Can you please stop staring now and eat?"
Chuckling at her, he started eating, he closed his eyes when his favourite Braised Pork just tasted like heaven in his mouth.
Sighing he looked at her and found looking at him waiting for his feedback.
"I didn't know you were this wonderful cook. Wow, this is so amazing."
"really? You like it? - asked xiaoxi who was very happy with her husband's compliment.
"I like the food and I also like the person who made it" said li jie eating the food.
After finishing the dinner, Li Jie suggested that they take a walk in the garden.
Looking at Li Jie who stuffed so much of the food she made in his tummy, she chuckled and nodded her head.
When they were walking to the garden, she could see that Li Jie's stomach was bothering him and he was uncomfortable.
"you don't have to stuff yourself like that, I can cook more often for you."
Smiling at her "but, I will be gone tomorrow and don't know when I will be back, so I ate a bit more to suffice those days."- answered Li Jie.
"seriously? You ate a bit more, Li jie you ate almost what two people can eat. And also, you had food in the restaurant with your friends."-xiaoxi shook her head.
"okay now that's not my fault, the food you cooked was so delicious and I couldn't just let it go to waste. So, I had everything. Basically, I was not wasting any food."-Li Jie defended himself shamelessly.
Shaking her head, she started walking towards the garden.
After walking a while, she went to the swing which is in the middle of the garden with all kinds of rose plants surrounding it and sat on it.
Li Jie followed her and sat beside her.
Taking a deep breath and sighing, "this feels so nice here."-said xiaoxi
Shifting closer to her, he used his hand to place her head on his shoulder "doesn't this feel much better?"
Chuckling she nodded her head.
Both of them didn't talk anything for a long time. Time felt like it stopped right there at that beautiful moment. Even though there were no words, both of them felt so peaceful that they wanted to stay like that.
Looking at his little wife Li Jie smiled when suddenly a thought crossed his mind.
"so, have you got any place in your mind for our honeymoon?"- asked Li jie.
Pursuing her lips, "what honeymoon? who wants to go on a honeymoon with you?"- who was shocked by his sudden question
Pulling her closer, he tapped her nose "you of course. Who else should I take when I have a beautiful wife Hmm?
Trying to control the smile, she lifted her head and looked into his eyes "ahem, that depends on your performance as my husband. If you perform well then maybe, I can think of going on a honeymoon with you."
Raising his eyebrows, "so what performance is the missus talking about? If it is what I think it is then I am sure I can perform really well that you can't get up from the bed for next 2 days."
Understanding what he meant, her ears and cheeks became red. she hit his chest "Li Jie, you shameless man, I wasn't talking about that."
Li Jie caught her hand and wiggled his eyebrows in a teasing manner "don't worry your husbands' performance in everything will be very great"
"that's it. I am not talking to you anymore. I am going in. hmpf"- xiaoxi turned around and started walking.
Chuckling at her, he caught up with her and held her hand "okay, I am sorry. I won't tease you anymore baby. Let's go in and sleep."
Inside the bedroom
"today was hectic. I don't want to wake you up, so I will just take my luggage to the study room. Good night"- Li jie said and started walking towards the door with his suitcases when xiaoxi spoke.
"maybe you can sleep here."
Li jie stopped in his tracks and turned towards her with a questioning gaze.
Thinking that he might have misunderstood her, she hurriedly explained "I didn't mean it in any other way, today you were tired too and you have to take the morning flight. You will fall sick if you don't have a proper sleep. If you don't have a problem, you can—"
"okay"- Li jie said cutting her off and put his suitcase in the corner and sat on the bed looking at her.
Frowning at what happened just now, she shook her head and made her way towards the bed and sat on the other side.
Taking a deep breath, she couldn't stop fidgeting her hands and biting her nails. She was the one who ask him to share the bed with her, but she was so nervous right now.
Li jie saw through her thoughts and held her small hands in his hands, "don't worry, I won't do anything. We are just sharing the bed which we have to do some day or the other right? I will sleep on my side and you can sleep on yours. Don't think much and sleep okay?"
Without waiting for her reply, he got down from the bed and walked to the wardrobe and bought himself a new blanket.
"This man, how can he be so sweet?"- thought xiaoxi looking at Li Jie.
Smiling at him, she nodded her head" and can you also wake me up when you are leaving. I just want to send you off."- she said the last sentence mumbling with her head bowed down.
Smiling at her, "it's okay you don't have to send me off, you can have a rest and it's not like I am not coming back right?"
Frowning at him, she snapped, "why won't you come? Are you trying to run away? Li jie—"
Cutting her off, he patted her head "what are your thinking? why will I run away? It's just that I want you to take rest."- he explained.
"but I want to send you off. Please?"- she said with a pout.
Looking at her cute pout and her small lips, he knows he couldn't reject her.
"alright, I will wake you up. Sleep now. it's already late. Good night."- he smiled patting her head.
Smiling at him, "good night"- said xiaoxi who then laid on her mattress and covered herself with the blanket.
Making sure she was well tucked in; he switched the lights off and slept on his side and covered himself with his blanket.
But, with her weird sleeping posture, will xiaoxi remain on her side? Or will something happen? Was the idea of sharing the bed a good one?
