Chapter 3: Training

Jack of all trades, master of none.

That perfectly summarized Nathan's style in his previous life.

Sword, Spear, Fists, Battleaxe, Halberds, Daggers, Staff, Bow, Guns.

He could use everything proficiently but anyone specializing in a weapon could beat him in that particular weapon.

But this diversity of his was also the thing that made him an incredibly tricky opponent.

Thousand Faced Nathan.

That was what people called him in the past.

Because in every single fight, Nathan would show up with a new battle style.

There was no such thing as learning from past experience when it came to Nathan because he would simply use a different weapon or a combination of different weapons the next time they fought.

'Oh? You adapted to my sword techniques? Then I'll use a spear now.'

Completely destroy the opponent's battle flow.

That was Nathan's style of combat.

Of course, it was something that many of his teachers and his colleagues complained about.

Since he was learning everything, he wasn't that great in anything particular too.

Versatility was an important thing for a warrior but Nathan took it too far.

Nathan had realized his extremity as he climbed higher in the Nihility Realm and he had begun to amend it.

He didn't forsake his versatility completely but focused on few things in his arsenal.

Sword, Spear, Sniper, Dagger, and Unarmed combat.

This was his focus for almost seven years before his transmigration and Nathan had felt like it was a better path.

The wall that was in front of him before was slowly crumbling and Nathan decided to continue that path in this life.

'Strictly speaking, my techniques should be the best in Arugal but this weak and frail body can't handle that level of skill at all.'

Nathan looked at this smooth baby hands and sighed.

With these baby hands, I'll rip the skin within five swings of the sword.

Nathan stood up and threw a few punches and kicks in the air.

'Too rigid.'

'Too weak.'

'Looks like body strengthening exercises and flexibility training was a must.'

'I need a proper weightlifting based training and a proper fighting training for my body to adapt to my fighting skills.'

'Hmm. I should go to Bluebird as soon as I can. The people there can be good sparring partners for me.

I also need proper resources to get in top shape.

'Three months for the entrance test. Not too short for progress since this body is literally at the starting point.'

.

.

.

Numa, the capital city of Zarkos Empire.

In a small alleyway near the edge of the city, there was a small two story building. The built was built like a traditional housing style and had particularly no distinguishing feature.

There was a board on the entrance that read, Bluebird Inn and that was pretty much it.

Inside the building, a small reception was set up which was currently empty and an old man was currently brewing some tea with a young girl of about fifteen years of age.

"Count it as your lucky day, lass. To have the honor of drinking the tea brewed by the great Runo."

The old man looked like he was doing the girl a huge favor as he handed the cup of tea to the young girl.

"Hmpf. What honor is there in drinking this bitter tea everyday with a dying old geezer." mumbled the girl as she reluctantly took the cup of tea.

"What did you say? Ungrateful little brat! Do you know how many people would line up in front of this old man if I gave them this tea? Now drink it and go back to training."

The duo was still arguing when the door opened.

"Hello? Is anyone here?"

A young and armature voice rang across and the duo turned their heads at the same time.

There was a young teen dressed in all black standing on the door with a travel bag. The teen was wearing a black cap and had sunglasses on. His dress-up was plain but clean and he was looking at the two of them as he asked in a small voice.

"Are you the owner of this place?"

"Hmm? Welcome to BlueBird Inn. How may I help you? We have empty rooms and breakfast for you." The old man said as he looked at the kid in front of him with a smile.

"No-No. I am not here for that." said the young man hurriedly.

"What? Then....?"

"I was sent here by someone."

"Sent here by someone?" The old man narrowed his eyes and asked.

"Why would someone send you to this run down inn?"

The young teen looked flustered at the question and spoke nervously.

"Actually, I don't know the reason myself. My name is Nathan and I am just a high school graduate."

"You don't know why you came here?" The old man's smile was already gone from his face when he learned he wasn't making money from the boy.

But it was slowly turning black as he heard more.

'Truly a money-grubbing bastard.' thought Nathan.

"Please hear my full story, sir. If you still don't want me here after that, I'll not disturb you any longer." cried Nathan 'pitifully' as he saw the raging owner.

"Speak fast and don't waste my time!" raged the old man.

"I want to go to a university and become a cultivator but I have no money. I lost my parents when I was young and I don't have any relatives to fund me for my future endeavors.

So, I headed out to the Misty forest to hunt some beasts to hone my skills and earn some money at the same time.

Yesterday, I was hunting as usual when a tall, burly man with thick hair and a large scar down his face saw me hunting. I was fighting two saber-claw tigers and killed them barely, The man approached me and asked me to go to this place and tell the owner that he sent me."
