Chapter 10: Saving a Friend
Church Ruins
(Y/N)'s POV
As I continued to run down the open trail between many broken trees and bushed, I began to spot a building close by. And as I got closer, a shockwave of uneasy feelings and discomfort blasted right through my whole body.
'This building must be the church where the fallen angles are having their ceremony. It has to be.' I thought as I continued running, mentally preparing myself for anything that might pop out and attack me last minute.
But as I thought, the more I began to think about Asia. Her kind smile, her beautiful personality, her gorgeous eyes. And of course, the fact that she was my friend gave me more than enough motivation to save her even quicker.
'Asia, I swear...Not matter what, I'M GOING TO SAVE YOU!' I mentally shout to myself, not caring about my surroundings anymore.
I continued running until the church in question came into view. And, to my surprise, there was nobody around. No trace of magical energy for hiding, nothing. On the out side anyways. I looked over and saw that the door was blown off it's hinges. I cautiously draw myself near it and peak inside the church building itself. And I'll be honest, it looked absolutely trashed. Broken statues, glass, the works, all over the place. As I looked at the rubble and remains of the used to be church, I quickly noticed the three I split from before entering the nearby forest.
"HEY GUYS!" I call out, quickly gaining their attention as I run towards them. "How'd it go for you three? Not to hard I hope. Everyone okay? No injuries?" I asked in multiude.
"Well, aside from the fact that we had to fight Freed again, no, no injueis, or other guards for that matter." Kiba replied.
"I see, that's good." I reply with a sigh of relief.
"Chances are they're all down there, preparing for this ceremony they've got goin' on." Koneko stated as she pointed over to the alter accross from all of us.
"So...How did things go on your end?" Kiba asked.
"Well..." I began to trial off into my own memories of the recent events that had transpired.
Flashback
Forest
3rd Person POV
(Y/N) simply stayed still, looking back at the beauties who had caught him fighting three fallen angles by himself. '...Shit!' He thought.
"Well?" Rias starts speaking, causing (Y/N) to jump slightly. "Why are you here exactly?" She asks again, still using her normal tone of voice and claming smile.
'Oh...She's pissed. Hell hath no furry than a woman scorn.' (Y/N) thinks to himself as he shivers. 'Gotta think of something clever, and fast!' He thought as he began to think of a way to gety out of this whole mess before it go a hundred times worse.
"W-Well, if you must know, after you left the club room, I decided to go home and think...about things." He answered before causing Oblivion to disappear.
"I see..." She said, simply halfway believing my little fib.
Rias approached the three fallen angels who (Y/N) had been fighting and stood her ground in an assertive manner.
"And just who are you three? And what exactly are you doing to my servant?" She asked in a rather threatening tone.
"Well, if you must know, I-" Mittelt spoke.
"I'll try and make this quick." He then looked over towards the blonde gothic Lolita and pointed at her. "Allow me to introduce, Jailbait..."
"HEY!" Mittelt yelled furiously.
"Cock tease..." The black and white haired boy added now directing towards Karlawarner.
"EXCUSE YOU!?" She hissed.
"And last but not least, Pending Restraining Order." He finished by pointing at Dohnaseek.
"Why you little-" The male fallen angel began to curse.
"My my, this pack of black birds sure are into themselves, aren't they?" Akeno asked, keeping her usual smiling expression.
"My servant sensed that you were nearby..." Rias said. "Since you're out here standing guard, your people must be worried about an attack." She asked the three.
"Worried...?" Dohnaseek asked with a slight scoff.
"You must be joking." Karlawarner added.
"No, we're just in the middle of a super-duper-top-secret ritual we don't want you devils interfering." Mittelt, once again, blurted out their secret plan aloud without thinking again, resulting in (Y/N) smacking his head with the palm of his hand.
Everyone looked at him with a look of confusion.
"I've told you before you little moron, it's not a secret if you just blurt it out like that." He said with a slight tone of annoyance in his tone, as well as a growl. "Well, in any case, I was just trying to go home, and these guess tried to stop me."
"By taking a path that's connected to the church?" Rias asked him to a striate tone.
"...Yes." (Y/N) simply replied with a straight, honest to god face.
Rias and Akeno both looked at the young man with a slight look of disbelief in their eyes and a face that looked not at all amused.'
'Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit! I'm fucking dead man!' (Y/N) thought in absolute fear.
"...Very well. (Y/N), you may take your leave. Akeno and I shall take care of this little problem ourselves." Rias ordered.
(Y/N) began to feel bad deep down. Not only did he lie to his master, but now he's making her clean up a mess that he caused.
"A-Are you sure?" He asked nervously, only to receive a glare from the red haired buxom beauty. In fear for his very life, and in accordance for the shiver that just shot down his spine, he agreed. "GOT IT! LEAVING!" And just like that he was gone, leaving Rias and Akeno alone to deal with the fallen angles.
"HA! Wow you got yourself a real winner their with that one! Running away to save his own life and having his own master to clean up his mess?" Mittelt said. "Did you really not notice he was lying to the both of you?!"
"Oh we know." Rias replied with a slight smile.
"And not to burst you bubble...But unfortunately, a couple of our younger members of our team are on their way there right now, and that boy is going back to lead the charge." Akeno stated.
"What?! You must be joking! How could a pansy like that lead an operation?" Mittelt asked.
"Silence you runt, you have no idea the kind of power that boy wields." Dohnaseek stated irritably.
"Oh yeah? So what? You two here for a rescue mission or something?" Mittelt asked, slightly disregarding the male fallen angle's remake towards her.
"No they're on their own." Rias simply stated. "He knows what he's doing, so we won't try and stop him. We'll simply be doing our part."
Present
Church Ruins
"And that's pretty much the gist of it." (Y/N) said, finally finishing his side of the story.
"I see." Kiba simply replied.
"Still, I can't help but feel awful. I'll have to do something to make it up to the both of them somehow when this is all over." (Y/N) said with a regretful tone. "So...that's my story, what's yours?" The young devil asked.
"Well, we just finished dealing with that stray priest that nearly made you bite the dust yesterday." Kiba informs, once again making the black and white haired teen feel bad.
"Seriously? Man I guess I owe you guys too huh? I'm sorry." He said will rubbing the back of his head and bowing.
"If you want to thank anyone, thank Issei, he's the one that managed to beat 'em." Kiba said, directing the attention towards Issei, who just had a proud smile on his face.
(Y/N) simply stared at his friend, still having a hard time believing a single word that Kiba said. 'Issei? Win a fight?' He thought. "I'll believe it when I see it." He bluntly stated.
"Dude come on!" Issei whined.
"Anyways, what's next?"
"This." Koneko simply replied in her usual blunt tone by smashing the altar that stood on the edge of the whole building.
Everyone approached it and looked down into the dark chasm of stairs and darkly lit pathway.
"So, Asia's down there?" (Y/N) asked.
"Guess so." Koneko said, breaking the altar, revealing a stairway that seemed to lead to a lower level of the building.
'So this is it.' (Y/N) thought as he began to walk down into the lower level. "Let's go." He said as he continued to lead the other three devils to where the fallen angel's ceremony.
Ritual Altar
After some time, they all had made their way to a massive, darkly lit room. Filled to the brim with stray priests.
"ASIA!" (Y/N) calls out, echoing over the entire room. As he looked over at Asia, he was horrified to see her chained to a glowing cross.
Asia, using whatever strength she had, lifted her head to see who called out to her. "(Y-Y/N)...You came." She said weakly.
"Of course I did." He yelled as he ran to her.
As he continued making his way towards his cahined friend, he was stopped by Raynare, as she threw a spear of light at him. The red glowing spear blasted him back to the walk, as well as Kiba and Issei. Dissreguarding the pain, (Y/N) quickly stood back up and glared at the fallen angel trying to block his path.
"Aw, you were so close." Raynare mocked. "But this touching reunion has come to an end...the ritual has finished."
All of a sudden, darkish green lightning surrounds Asia and she begins screaming in pain, tears leaking from her eyes.
"What are you doing to her?! TELL ME!!" The young devil ordered.
"She's taking her sacred gear." Koneko said.
"What does that mean for her?!"
"Taking her sacred gear, is just like taking her life." Kiba informed.
"Wait...she's dying?" (Y/N) asked, horrified by this new found knowledge.
All of a sudden, Asia stopped screaming and her eyes became lifeless. The young man watched in horror as her body hung lifelessly.
"Twilight healing..." Asia's rings floated into Raynare's hands, surrounded by a glowing light. "At last, they're mine."
