Chapter 12: Realization
Church Ruins
3rd Person POV
"Yuma?" Issei asked, absolutely bewildered.
"I'm sorry, I know I said some mean things earlier, but I didn't have a choice! I had to fulfill my role as a fallen angel." Yuma plead with a sorrowful look.
'Yuma? What the hell is going on?' (Y/N) thought as he watched this moment quietly, his rage slightly building with each passing second. 'How the hell do they know each other?'
"If I really didn't care...would I still be wearing this?" She lifts her wrist presenting a pink bracelet. "Please don't tell me you forgot. You bought this for me, don't you remember?" She asked with tears in her eyes.
"No way! Why do you still have that thing!" Issei asked, totally appalled.
"How could I possibly get rid of this?"
Issei began making his way towards her and (Y/N).
"Koneko. You ready?" Kiba asked the white haired loli.
Koneko nodded and they run towards (Y/N) and Issei, but was stopped by Rias.
"It reminds me of you." Yuma's tears begin to fall to the floor. Even Issei appeared to be on the brink of tears himself. "You wouldn't let them hurt me...would you Issei?"
"Shut up...I don't buy it." He ordered sternly. He turned around and walked away .
"Issei wait!" Yuma cried as she reached for him.
"So let me get this straight..." (Y/N) finally spoke.
Upon hearing his voice, Yuma looked up slowly. Only to see (Y/N) with a truly enraged expression on his face. His eyes full of pure hatred and malace, murderous intent practically screaming.
"Not only did you trick me and tried to kill me, but you did the same thing to my friend too?!"
"N-No! I swear! I was just following orders!" She yelled defensivly.
"Bullshit! You said you betrayed your superiors to gain Asia's powers for yourself. Face it Raynare, you just dug your grave even deeper." (Y/N) kneeled down and ripped the necklace he had bought for her right off from around her neck. "I'm taking this back. You don't deserve this." He said as he stood back up and pointed his Azure armored palm towards the fallen angel. "Any last words?" He asked as magical energy gathered in his hand, forming a ball.
"(Y/N) please don't do this! I'm begging you!" She pleaded as more tears began to fall from her eyes.
"You know, it's funny. When you asked me out, I was actually kinda happy. I thought my life would finally change for the better. But, in that short moment of blissful ignorance, I realized something. That this happiness wasn't going to last. Because it never does. My life will just continue being a constant spiral of despair. So thank you, for making me realise I was living a stupid dream." (Y/N) said as tears began to form from his eyes as well.
The magic ball in his hand grew in size, Raynare became terrifed.
"Goodbye...Raynare." (Y/N) bid farewell as he unleashed his power, obliterating the decetful fallen angel and creating a tall spire of azure blue magical energy reaching towards the sky.
As the power began to die down, multiple black feathers could be seen, falling from his above. (Y/N) looked up, staring into the feathers that were falling. Thinking about the how Raynare had asked him out before trying to kill him.
'Uh...In that case...Since you're single. Do you think you'd like to go out with me? I'd like for you to be my boyfriend!' Her voice echoing inside his mind.
His eyes, full of deep sorrow. But his heart and mind, he knew the truth.
'That's right. My life is a never ending turmoil of agony and despair. Nothing is going to change that.' He tought. His sight drew towards the light greenish glow of the slowly decending sacred gear that was stolen from Asia. He reached out and gently held them in his hands. 'Still, even if my life is a living hell...I can at least make sure that no one suffers the same experiences I have.'
He then truned to his red haired beauty of a master.
"Master, may I have permission to return this Sacred Gear to it's rightful owner?" He asked.
"Of course." Rias smiled.
(Y/N) walked over to Asia and gently placed the rings back onto her hands.
"Everyone, I'm sorry. You all came to help me...I did everything I could but I still couldn't save her." (Y/N) held tightly onto Asia's cold dead hands, praying that she was still alive. "Asia, I'm so sorry. This never would've happened if you never had met me. Please forgive me." Tears fell from his eyes as he failed to hold them in, letting his sadness out.
"(Y/N), you have nothing to appoligize for. This world is still new to you. Nobody here is placing blame, least of all, Asia." Rias said calmly, trying to comfot the young sorrowful devil.
"You're wrong." He replied, gaining a shocked reaction from his master and the others. "I've lived in this world for a long time, I've just tried to use my knowledge and abilities to help others and do good...look what that's gotten me."
"I see. Then, I assume you know what this is?" Rias asked as she pulled out a white Bishop chess peice from her skirt pocket.
(Y/N) turned towards his master, looking at the peice with tearful eyes.
"It's the Bishop peice. So what?"
"Uh huh, that's right." Akeno stated, now appearing from a magic teleportation circle. "Sorry I'm late to the party. Clean up was a bit more than I thought it would be."
"So what? What's the chess peice got to do with anything?" (Y/N) asked.
"The Bishop's position of power is to protect and heal the other devils in the household. Perhaps the timing's perfect. We could use a good clergyman." Explained the Peerage King.
"Wait what? What are you saying?" The young devil asked, slightly confused.
"Our good sister is about to be born agin into the underworld." Rias smiled.
(Y/N)'s eyes widen.
Now, as Asia lay on the ground, the Bishop peice resting upon her chest, and a red magic circle surrounded her.
"In the name of Rias Gremory I call to Asia Argento...Hear my command. Return thy soul from the shadows of death to the human realm. Rise once more as my devil servant. Rejoice! For you have been given new life!" The red light of the magic circle began to shine brighter and glow more intensly. "Wake as my healer and clergyman!"
The Bishop peice glows and sinks into Asia's body, the magic circle around her dissapars. Rias appeared to be exhausted. (Y/N) was far more anxious to know if it worked than anybody else.
"So, what now? Is she gonna wake up or what?" He asked anxiously.
"Just wait."
Suddenly, Asia's Sacred Gear glowed their pure green glow, quickly vanishing after a few short moments. Her body twitched slightly. Her eyes slowly opened, reawakening to the world, reborn and alive.
"My God you're alive!" (Y/N) cheered in total suprise. "But...Is that really her? Her memory didn't get wiped or anything did it?" He asked Rias, who simply smiled at him.
"It is. I don't make a habbit of reviving the deceased but her power may be useful." Rias turns and proceeds to leave. "From here on, you are her protector. You are the senior devil, after all." With those final orders issued, Rias took her leave.
"(Y/N)? Uh...Am...Am I here?" Asia asked, feeling somewhat confused, only to be engulfed by an embrace by (Y/N).
"Yes, yes you are and I'm so happy!" He said, full of pure joy. "Welcome back, Asia."
Time Skip
ORC Clubroom
A new day had dawned and everything had returned to the way things were. As Rias sat in the clubroom simply enjoying her tea, (Y/N) entered to greet her.
"Wassup? It's your rebellious devil servant walkin' in." He greeted casually.
"Hi!" Rias greeted back. "I'm suprised you're here today. How're you feeling?"
"Great! Thanks to Asia's healing and a good night's sleep, I'm good as new." The young devil placed his bag on to one of the empty couches.
"Fantastic, she's already proving how useful she can be. It's no wonder that all those fallen angels were threatened by her power." Rias said with her adorable smile.
"Actually, speaking about last night, I did some thinking." His tone changed, more serious than before. He took his seat on the couch across from Rias taking in a deep breath as he collected his thoughts.
"What's wrong? Everything okay?" She questioned.
"No, no actually it's not. Over the past few days, I've done nothing but disobey your orders. It was dissrespectful of me and I am deeply sorry." He bowed in modesty. "From the bottom of my heart, I beg for your forgivness Master!"
"Oh (Y/N) come now, that's all in the past. And besides everything turned out alright in the end so I don't think you should feel bad." Rias reassured.
"Okay...If that's how you truly feel, then I shall accept your word Master." (Y/N) said setting back up. Suddenly, a curious thought came to mind. "Actually, If you don't mind, I have a question."
"Hm? What is it?"
"Earlier, you said that we named after chess pieces. So does that mean all the position are represented by something?"
"It does." Rias replied as she takes a quick sip of her tea.
"I see. So then as a Pawn that means you can have six more, seeing as you already have Issei." (Y/N) said, feeling slightly disappointed. "Which I'm totally cool with by the way! I understand if the two of us won't be enough." He laughed awkwardly. "...Sorry, that was supposed to be a joke! I'm totally stable and secure!" He defended his earlier claim. 'WHAT THE HELL AM I SAYING?! I SOUND LIKE ISSEI FOR GOD'S SAKE!' He thought as he cried a little on the inside.
"It's because you like her, kid." Starvlador bluntly states, clearly trying to tease the poor boy.
'SHUT UP!!!'
Rias lightly laughed at the boy's display. "You and Issei are the only Pawns I'll ever need (Y/N)." She said as she placed her tea cup on it's plate.
"Really? Okay wow, that's kinda awesome." (Y/N) said with a slight blush.
"When a human becomes a devil, the number of Evil Pieces they consume varies. It just depends on what special abilities that person has to contribute." Rias informs as she gets up from her couch and walked over to (Y/N)'s side.
'Wait, consumed?' He thought, but was suddenly interrupted once he felt a warm and loving embrace engulf him, causing him to blush more.
"For you, the pieces I had remaining, were one Knight, one Rook, one Bishop, and seven Pawns. So that is what I had to choose from. After I knew I wanted to bring you back as my servant, I decided to us my remaining Pawns in order to save you."
"So...let me see if I understand this. You gave up six others just to have me?" (Y/N) asked, feeling rather astonished and quite dumbfounded.
"It was a gamble at first. But I had a feeling your power alone was strong enough to replace every one of the remaining others. Humans with that potential are hard to find so I considered the sacrifice to be well worth the risk. Now that we know you possess one of the pieces of Longinus, I'd say it was worth it. You are worth it." Rias claimed as she continued to hold the young devil in her arms.
(Y/N) simply remained silent for a brief moment. He holds out his right hand and summons his Azure colored gauntlet. "My Blazblue: Limit Breaker. All this time, I had no idea it was part of Longinus." He said.
Suddenly, a hand placed itself under his chin, turning him back towards his master, who was smiling at him.
"The Crimson Haired Princess of Ruin and user of the Azure Dragon Emperor; you know what they say about how opposites attract." She stated in a seductive tone and matching seductive smile.
"U-Uh...Yeah, I guess." (Y/N) stuttered, clearly embarrassed.
"Dude, I'm telling you, she is into you." Starvlador stated.
'SHUT!!! UP!!!' (Y/N) yelled back.
"Strive to become the mightiest Pawn and find your happiness. I have complete faith in your ability to achieve this. Consider this an order, my dear servant." Rias ordered playfully.
"I'll do what I can." He replied. "But, you might want to save your breathe on the whole happiness thing, knowing my track reco-" He stopped mid sentence as he felt a pair of soft lips gently press against his forehead. He soon realized that Rias was kissing his forehead. She departed her lips and (Y/N) looked at his master with bright red cheeks.
"You needn't worry. I shall take it upon myself to make sure you find your happiness. As your Master, I promise this to you." Rias said, giving a sweet smile.
"Uh..." Was all (Y/N) could say.
"By the way, that was just a little spell to strengthen your stamina."
"Um...Okay?"
"You'll need your strength to better fulfill my orders, and I'm going to stop coddling you so much or our newest member will become jealous." Rias said, giving the boy a flirtatious wink.
"Wait what? Jealous?" He asked, feeling totally confused.
"Uh what's going on?" Asia asked standing behind the couch with tears in her eyes.
(Y/N) immediately bolted up off of the couch. "Woah! We were just talking I swear!" He defended.
"That's how it always starts. It's okay. I know she's prettier than me. And she'll probably do things I won't, so it makes sense that you like her more..." Asia said, feeling utterly dejected.
"What are you even talking about?! Asia come on, please don't be upset." (Y/N) begged the sister turned devil.
"Oh! I shouldn't say things like that!" She said, suddenly waving her whole body from side to side. "I swear I'm not jealous! I'm just insecure." She the begins to pray. "Dear Lord, please forgive my sins of lust and envy-" She immediately received a massive headache, causing her to cry out in pain. She hunched down holding her head.
"Asia! Are you okay?!" (Y/N) asked, clearly worried.
"I feel like a knife just ran through my head." Asia cried in response.
"God's not very receptive to the prayers of devils." Rias informs the poor girl.
"I forgot. He's probably angry that I became a devil, huh?"
"Well, how do you feel about it?" Rias asked.
"Oh me! I don't have any regrets at all! The best part is that (Y/N) and I can be together forever now, and that's all I ever really wanted." Asia smiled innocently.
"Wait what?" (Y/N) asked. "Wait a second, that outfit you've got on." He said, quickly changing his attention to her new attire, Kuoh Academy's girl uniform.
"What do you think?" Asia asked happily as she spun around, giving the young man a total view.
"It looks great on you Asia, very cute. But does it mean you're going to our school now?"
"It does." Rias answered. "My father is on the school board so getting her enrolled as a transfer student wasn't a problem."
"Wait for real. Wow, that really cool, I had no idea. Man, I learning something new about you every second Master." (Y/N) laughed happily.
Suddenly, the rest of the ORC club members entered the room.
"Good morning, everyone." Kiba greeted as he opened the door.
"Yo!" (Y/N) greeted with a two fingered salute.
"I'm glad to see you're not dead." Koneko stated in her usual blunt tone.
"For real man, you nearly scared the daylights outta me." Issei said as he wrapped an arm around his friend.
"Wait, for real? You actually cared about something that doesn't involve breasts?" (Y/N) teased his perverted brunette friend.
"Dude, come on! Is it so wrong for me to care about my friends?!" Issei yelled, clearly falling for the joke.
Suddenly, the door behind Rias opened up. Revealing it to be Akeno, pushing a cart with a very delicious cake on top.
"Oh perfect! You're all here!" Akeno cheered. "I brought cake so we could officially welcome our new members!"
Everyone gasped in awe at the sight of the delicious treat before them.
"(Y/N)." Rias addressed.
"Yeah?"
"Great job out there. I was very impressed." Rias spoke with a sincere smile.
"Oh yeah?" He asked with a slight blush. He began rubbing the back of his head in slight embarrassment. "Wasn't a big deal or anything. I just did what I thought was right." He smiled happily towards his new master.
As everyone enjoyed themselves with the welcoming party for Asia and him, a mysterious and exotic red bird watched it all from one of the branches from one of the many trees outside. This was no normal bird however, it was summoned by someone to watch them.
(Y/N) instantly picked up that something felt wrong. He quickly turned around and saw the bird. He stared at it menacingly as he slowly raised his hand and pointed two fingers at the bird. In the blink of an eye, a small black and green flame shot out from (Y/N)'s pointed figures and flew towards the bird, completely phasing through the glass window and burning the surveying bird to a crisp.
After that was dealt with, he quickly lowered his hand, hoping not to rise any suspicion.
"Hey (Y/N)..." Asia called out as she walked over to the young devil with two plates of cake, one in each hand. "Are you okay?" She asked with slight concern.
(Y/N) just gave her a reassuring smile. "Yep, never better. Now come on, let's eat!" He cheers as he walks back towards the party.
Unknown Location
"What happened to the recon? That boy must've done something!" The mysterious man shouts, clearly enraged by this new development. He quickly calms himself and sits back down next to his collection of girls. He scoffs. "No matter. Riser shall take care of him when the time comes."
