Chapter 3: Chapter 5: Relentless Second Born

The hallways of a majestic mansion echo along with a man donning a sleek grey armour.

Every footstep emitted a sense of intimidation and solemn feeling.

It was a man. The man had hair that was glossy and was comparable to a proud wolf's fur. His skin was fair and had seemingly no scars or injuries, except his hands which were filled with calluses. His eyes were sharp and endearing, so lovable and very blue.

Carrying his helmet, He opened a door with his left hand.

He was very glad to see him, His father.

His father was with two soldiers that gave off a strong and serious air, such was befitting of guards belonging to a high noble.

"Oh, Victorio, you came.", said his father.

Victorio, the one that had just arrived, felt his father's words come with the emotion of sadness the moment he came in.

Victorio was curious about it, so decided to ask.

"As you ordered, but first, I have a lot of things to ask you about, especially about this armour I'm currently using.", Victorio asked in a serious tone.

Victorio was quite suspicious about a couple of things that had happened in the past two days. He was ordered to take care of a horde of werebeasts that was apparently eating most of the prey in a forest, causing hunters to be unable to bring back anything.

After he took care of the horde, he was assigned a squad that was mostly composed of the territory's best soldiers and was tasked to find a solution for a big village that was experiencing a problem that caused their cattle to be unable to have any offspring, they had this for problem for a few months and their cattle haven't shown any signs of being pregnant.

They eventually found the cause for it, and it was apparently a parasite that often stuck around the genitalia of male cattle that constantly kept depleting it of its sperm.

After they finished that, they were called back to Anrirworth in such short notice.

The timing between the two missions were quite short and he had hardly gotten any rest, but he was fine. Even though the werebeast horde had a larger number than reported, it was nothing hard and the parasite problem was easily dealt with by using mana to overdose them.

However, The most strangest part of it all was that he was only allowed to use one specific armour and that was the armour he was currently wearing.

It was actually a good set of armour and it didn't really drag him down.

He always kept his helmet on everytime he was around people, or rather he was required to.

It was very strange.

"Yes, we'll get to that", said his father," however, I called you here because of your brother."

Victorio was wondering as to why his brother was being the main subject, but he simply kept his mouth shut.

"You see that partition of cloth over there? I and Allegor had a short battle", Drusus said whilsst turning to Victorio.

Suddenly, his mind went blank at what he heard.

"What?", he says in his mind.

His oldest brother, Allegor had a physical fight with his father, Drusus van Anrirworth?

He looked around the room. He saw a wide cloth nailed onto a wall, acting as if it was a partition. He went near it and set it aside, and saw eveything behind it.

It was a hole in the wall, and beyond that was a wide room filled with burnt wood and gaping floorboards. It also had suspicious tree roots lying around.

However, the worst thing that he found in this room was an anomalous force that was somewhat hindering his ability to cast spells.

Victorio was both shocked and worried.

He gathered all the energy he can and started shouting.

"You fought!? Where's allegor!? Why did you both fight!?", Victorio bombarded Drusus with questions.

"Talia, please explain what happened", Drusus turned to the solider by his side, a woman named Talia.

"As you wish, Earl Anrirworth", Talia started to describe what happened," Upon hearing news that had infuriated the Earl, After Sir Allegor arrived home, The Earl immediately cast an anti-cast field and disabled Sir allegor's ability to cast magic."

Victorio wanted to know what that news was, however, he just let Talia continue.

"Sir Allegor accepted a few strikes from Earl Drusus with his sword, but he eventually processed what was happening and then used his sword, Alcmene, and cleaved through the entirety of the walls in the room and escaped.", Talia added.

Victorio, wondering how allegor was able to use his sword to cast magic was about to ask how, but...

"Alcmene's blade has the ability to the store the user's magic and have it ready to be deployed, regardless of whether there is something hindering it", Talia explained,"Well, regardless of it being capable of piercing through everything hindering it, it still wouldn't have mattered considering the Anti-cast field cannot stop anything that has already been cast beforehand."

Victorio had heard enough. He would rather hear the rest another time. He sighed for the last time and wanted to really leave.

"A rumour has spread around the city that a assassin has snuck inside the mansion, it is most likely referring to Sir Allegor and the battle that happened here three days ago. Due to that rumour, we had to have you wear Sir Allegor's armour and do various tasks to debunk that rumour, We are very apologetic about the unnecessary trouble it has given you",Talia apologized as she explained the reasoning for the armour.

"So that was why....", Victorio said as he stared at his father's back.

He could feel his father's regrets as he did.

There was a lot of things he would like to know, but he feels like he needs to put it up for another time.
