Chapter 2: Chapter one
I don't have a clear memory of how I managed to get to the hospital, but now I was here. I stared up at the sick, white building, with the red plus on the top. I walked in and broke into a run through the lobby, not caring about the people looking at me with scandalized expressions. The nurse looked completely bemused, and said, " May I help you?" quietly to me, while glancing around at the lobby, taking in the wet trail I had created.
" Im looking for my mom." I whispered. I could talk normally , and that would be a good thing for the nurse, or I would have screamed in her face. She looked confused and said," Last name please?"
"May Brooks" I whispered, and watched as she shifted around osme papers, and said,
" Oh dear you must be Mrs.Brooks daughter!" I screamed mentally. Did she just say that? My mom was dying and she was talking about who I was?
"Yeah" I said, barley able to control my voice.
"Please wait over there." The nurse said in a false, happy voice. I threw myself down in a chair, tears starting up again. My eyes seemed to close for a minute or two, and I woke to my name being called from the front desk. I stumbled over to the front desk, and my heart sank at the grave expression from the nurse. " The doctor would like to see you." she said, and I looked around. I heard a voice say " Over here, Ms.Brooks." I turned, and saw a tall, aged man in a doctors coat. He had the same grave expression, and he led me over to another room. It was the same, sickly white, as the rest of this hospital. I sat down on a chair and stared at the doctor. He stared passively back. We had a staring contest for a couple seconds, until he cleared his throat, and looked away. Seems like I won. " Your mother didn't make it." The doctor implored, while looking at the floor. I became numb, unable to accept this reality. My world crashed around my feet, as fast as the tears that fell across my face.I didn't even prepare for this. I should never have asked her if we could come to the store. "I'll go get your relatives." The doctor said, while leaving the room. A little bit after he left a woman entered the room. She introduced herself as a counselor, and showed me her badge. "Im Ms.Jones, nice to meet you! I hope we can talk about what happened to you. You must've had a big shock, and feel free to express yourself in any way possible while i'm here." She said. Okay. I screamed as loud as I could, wanting someone to hear me, anyone. I wanted the people in the lobby to know, that everything wasn't going to be alright. Everything is gone, and the world should have ended by now. To my surprise, Ms.Jones didn't even blink. Its as if someone had covered her ears and eyes. "That's a great way." she said feebly. There was a knock at the door, and I turned my chair.
