It was now the day for the first match and Shoyo was having a mental breakdown on the way there.
' What if I mess up? What happens if we lose because of me??.....' Thoughts like these were running through his head. How do I know this? It's not because I'm psychic. It's because he's muttering under his breath repeating everything.I lightly hit his head to make him shut up and to get him to listen to me.
" Shoyo. Calm down and look at me. " Shoyo turns his head to look at me. " Listen Shoyo you don't have to be nervous. While playing don't worry about messing up just have fun and play the game. If you do mess the team has your back. "
" He's right shorty. This is a team sport. We all have our strong points but we need to work together. If one of us messes up another person helps. " Tendou says.
" You are really taking this captain thing seriously. Didnt think you would though."
" What's with the lack of confidence?? "
We then arrive at the stadium. Shoyo managed to calm down and is now acting like his regular self. We headed to the court for our first match.
As we entered the court to warm up Yosen also arrived on the court. They didn't have many tall players which is good however it's better to test their skills to see if any of them are a problem.
This however is also a good time to test out our new formations. There's something called stacking and switching in volleyball. Switching allows players to move into different positions to maximise their output. This was I did when I make my plans. I make my team to switch to different positions in order to manipulate the other team. But before doing this we use something called stacking. Basically when a serve is used either by our team or the other team we stack our players in positions when the serve happens. After the serve is received we use switching to get the players to the positions they need to be. Either to defend or to attack. We also used this to make synchronised attacks as well. Switching helps the players get into position. We created attack variations combined with different quicks.
It was now time for the match to start. The coin was flipped. Teikos favor we choose to serve. I was up to serve. To start off the set I use a jump serve which goes in between there libero and wing spiker for the point.
The match continued with almost no issues. By using our new formations we were able to shut down Yosen pretty easily. An example would be when I served. When the ball got received the team switched to there optimal positions for defence. By the time they were able to attack Tendou and Shoyo shut them down. When we received all of us were the position to attack allowing us to get the point.
About half way though the set I made my plan. I then placed sets in certain positions to manipulate the other players. My team were in sinc with me and were able to fulfill there parts perfectly.
We effectively shut them down and won the match. Our positions worked perfectly. Shoyo played as usual. The pep talk before the match really helped. He was on fire. Blocking and receiving the attacks that come his way.
Our first match was over but we decided to stay and see who were our oppentents in the next round. The match was between Shoei middle school and Meijo middle school. Shoei middle school has a pretty good line up this year. They have good teamwork and their attacks are fast. How ever Meijo outclassed them. There defence is better than Shoei with there blocks almost continuously stopping the spikers. There defence however is run by a rad blocker. He is pretty good as he is able to instruct the other players where to block.
The match ended and Meijo won. We will be playing them next.

We headed back to the gym where we had our meeting.I went up and told them about the plan.
" They have a read blocker on there team. He was the one who instructed where the blockers should go. To counter this we are going to confuse them. To get past there blocks it's best if you use block outs to get past them. As for breaking there defence we will go with the misdirection strategy. "
To explain this strategy is similar to the stealth all court man-to-man defence from kuroko no basket. I'll have the team to switch positions constantly with minimum effort to confuse the other team to get in points. This will also incorporate back row attacks as well as synchronised attacks to lead them off.This also helps Shoyo as he gets lost in the crowd.
This will allow us to bypass there blocks. This also holds another purpose. If they manage to get the ball we will be able to predict where the ball will go. This allows us to block there spikes as well as receive them.
After the plan was made we all headed home to get some rest before the game tomorrow.
