Chapter 18: Secondary Job

"I will be a Blacksmith!" Xueqin said "And a Designer, Manufacturer and Mechanic. All of them."

"A secondary job is no joke." Mucheng warned "They are difficult to improve and require a lot of time. You must focus on one if you want to reach the peak."

"Master, that's only for normal people" Xueqin answered "You already said that for a Battle Armor must be in synchrony with the spirit master, how could it be better than if I completely construct, knowing every fibber of it?" Xueqin reasoned "You are a clear exemple, you had learned more than one job to be able to understand better your armor, even when you mostly focused on one. Most probably even improving your main job as they are all related."

"With my main advantage being time, I am prepared to study everyone. In the end, Mechanic is the fusion of two of them, why couldn't I simply add Blacksmith? I have a high spiritual power, my sword will help me with the precision. In comparison, I may lack about strength, but in that case wouldn't blacksmithing be the perfect practice. Two birds with one hit!"

Seeing Xueqin's resolution, Mucheng couldn't really negate him. Finally, he sighed "I will teach you the foundation of the four jobs, but if when you become 10 years old, you have not achieved level 3 in any of them, you should stopping practicing it."

"I don't know about ranks, but for your words, it's very probable that I will reach at least one, so okay." Xueqin accepted.

Mucheng waved his arm, a pair of steel hammers and a transparent piece of a strange material were thrown towards Xueqin with a desk with some runes appearing next to him.

Xueqin hurriedly caught them, looking with a confused look at Mucheng "Start with Blacksmith, hit that metal with the hammers, your objective will be to make the metal all of the same color."

Xueqin looked confused as he took the hammers and turned the metal, resting it on the desk "How I start?"

"Find it yourself" was Mucheng's answer.

"But, what about how to hit, techniques or even a fire to temper the metal?!" Shouted demanding.

"There's no need for fire, and about the other, I already said it. Find it yourself. You have one hour, do whatever you want" Mucheng said before disappearing.

"If you are going to teach me like this, don't dare to call yourself my master!" Xueqin complained.

Xueqin gripped tightly the hammers, not much different than when he gripped his sword "As there are two hammers, I should hit applying force from opposite directions. I suppose."

Xueqin lifted the hammers, he swung them with all his strength, hitting both sides of the metal at the same time "Clank!" A loud shock flowed over the metal.

"What is this?!" Xueqin said shocked as he looked at the metal, from the places that he had hit surged different colors, the right being different tones of white and gray and the left different tones of black, there were more than 30 tonalities. "And master is expecting for me to make it the same color. Impossible!"

Xueqin tried hitting another time, even more tonalities appearing over it, touching the metal it became even more brittle. "Ahhhh! I'm fed up!" Like madly, he started swinging the hammers, barraging it towards the metal. Rather than a blacksmith, he seemed a swordmaster trying to cut him that. It wasn't his fault, Xueqin had really no idea about blacksmiths, only having learned to swing swords.

After an hour Mucheng returned, finding a completely exhausted Xueqin panting as he laid on the ground. Over the desk, he found a cracked metal with countless different tonalities of black and white, there was even yellow!

Mucheng approached and touched the metal. It was horrible, the structure of the material had been completely destroyed. It was so bad that it could cause some blacksmith to even cry as they saw it "How were you able to do this shit? There's even yellow color, is only supposed to be white and black!"

"If you had taught something about blacksmithing!" Xueqin complained, "I don't know how to hit it correctly."

"But to reach this level of destruction" Mucheng sighed. He lifted his arm, a black hammer appearing over his arm. Pressure surged from his hammer, a shock wave forming as it descended over the metal.

"Clank" the hammer hit the metal, rebounding in it, a bright ring expanding over it.

Xueqin opened his eyes shocked, what was the meaning of that hit? The metal had turned transparent again like nothing had happened.

"You can take it" Mucheng threw the metal at him, affirming to Xueqin that it was truly the same unrefined metal as before.

"That how blacksmith forge?" Xueqin said confused.

"Of course not" Mucheng shook his head "This is how I destroy forgings. Don't try to imitate it, you won't reach any place follow it."

"So why don't you explain to me how?" Xueqin demanded.

"Learn it for yourself" This gained Xueqin to puff his cheeks.

The desk over Mucheng disappeared and he threw something to Xueqin. Taking it, Xueqin found it was a ring.

"It's a storage ring. You can take it. Put everything inside" Mucheng explained.

Xueqin focused on the ring, putting the metal and hammers inside it.

"Now, I will teach you Designer" Mucheng waved his hand a desk with some papers and a chair appearing next to him "Sit down"

Xueqin sat down on the chair and looked at the papers. They were sketches of what seemed to be different parts of the human anatomy but metallic "I will teach you over the parts of the Mecha that are simpler than the Battle Armor."

Surprisingly, Mucheng taught him incredible good. He explained about all the parts of the mecha, the relation between each other, focusing over the core, the most important part of it. As it was only the first day, Mucheng only explained the mechanic part, leaving the soul circuits for later as they were far more advanced. His way to taught was clear and reasonable, explaining every step and answering every related question.

After 2 hours, the Manufacturer class started. He took out a big lump of metal and a chisel and a hammer. Letting a very simple figure to carve in it, Mucheng show how the chisel could be used for it. It required a great deal of concentration and precision, a single miss would make all the work useless.

"Most of the swordmasters are Manufacturers as its synergy with the sword is great. It's not much different to carve over a metal than to cut over an enemy when you reach a good point." Mucheng explained "After they advance, they usually will stop using external tools as the chisel, instead, the best tool becomes their own sword. Having perfect coordination between both, being a single being. That why swordmasters are considered the best Manufacturers, good ones usually reaching high levels." Mucheng finished his explanation.

"For Mechanic, there no need to teach you anything now" Mucheng said "Mechanics would start learning the same as Manufacturers and Designers. It's much later than you will learn about repair and maintenance."

"The classes had finished." Mucheng clapped his hands "Continue practicing with your Sword Intent." Mucheng said before disappearing.

Xueqin was sure. Mucheng if he wanted could be really good at teaching. "Bastard!" That meant that he was making things difficult to Xueqin about Blacksmith, trying to force him to abandon. "Now that I think about, he was the same with the sword" Xueqin's face paled "He really wanted me dead" He said in fright as he looked as his surroundings.
