Chapter 39: War: Massacre

A man in blue armor covered a red cloth from his right shoulder to his waist then extended further to his knees, his waist belt was neat and and firm and the blueness of his armor shined he held his blue helmet to his side as he walked out of the darkness and towards Nilus, his black hair was braided and his skin was dark which made him strange among many, he was a one of a kind and also known as foreigner but he was regardless handsome he had no beards and his braided hair fell to his back, his face was long and his eyeballs were blue but deep.

He let out a firm yet soft voice. "Nilus sir....chh I hate formalities, I'll just call you Nilus, I know you don't mind it."

Nilus didn't bother to look at him as he approached where he sat, he just rested his head on his hand and talked to him, "why are you here....?"

"ohh ohhh tough guy acting all cocky, do you plan to take on a hundred thousand soldiers alone then"

"it's just quantity... It doesn't matter I'm enough to deal with them"

The blue knight rested on Nilus chair and softly shouted at him, "ahh! There you go again you cocky brat!"

That moment a slow growl crawled out of the darkness and began to breathe on the blue Knight Chabot, ¹the air was cold on his shoulders and he couldn't afford to turn back as it felt like a powerful mass stood behind him and would swallow him up the moment he looks at it. He forcibly smiled and whispered at Nilus.. "hey brat... Is this...

Nilus finished the statement for him, "his name is korge... "

Chabot looked blankly at him, "... S... Sir Nilus.. won't you tell him to go away."

"why would I? You're a pest to me anyway."

"does he bite..."

"he does not even need to... Just stay like that over time and you'll freeze to death"

"please"

Nilus closed his eyes and didn't reply him.

Chabot slowly turned back, the big white wyvern came out of the darkness and revealed it whole self, it's skin was white and freezing with scales all over, it forelimb housed it wings, the wyvern slowly lowered his head towards Chabot's face and opened his mouth a bit breathing on his face. Small ice flakes formed on his black face. He shivered as the wyvern withdrew into the darkness. Chabot immediately turned to Nilus who seemed to already be enjoying a nap. "did you really tame that scary thing... How on earth did you do that?"

Nilus who didn't answer until after some minutes got on his feet, immediately Chabot put on a scary smile on his face. "hey leave the mage for me, I have been given a request to bring him to the magic tower alive or dead."

"I have no business with the magic tower just try not to be an hindrance."

Nilus picked up his long sword, it had no scabbard and immediately vanished into thin air which didn't seem to surprise Chabot who has heard a lot about one of the treasures of the world Eschaton.

The army stood in front of the large city gate, the gate had no soldiers, it felt like the entire place has been deserted, Duke Bryand has never found himself in this kind of spot. It felt like they were walking into a trap but yet again he considered what if they actually fled because the Forgan army was defeated, he called out for the commander who was tied in chains. They disrespectfully dragged him out.

Duke Bryand looked at him and looked forward, he didn't have to speak out what he wanted but he did anyway, "what can you deduce from this situation right now?"

"are you seeking advice or telling me to reveal the secrets of my motherland"

"maybe you can see it as helping an acquaintance"

The commander scoffed, "bullshit.... but I will do you a favor and tell you a story not many knows."

"hmmm..." Duke Bryand just looked as he didn't know how to respond to the Forgan empire commander, of course he knew the commander wouldn't give out information on his empire but he also doesn't feel the need to turn down the commander's request to tell a story.

"have you ever heard of Eschaton..."

"a fallen god?...."

"ah... You're familiar with myths I see, Eschaton was a god that loved the sight of blood, so he would kill the very humans he was suppose to be a god to and would even laugh like a madman as they died, gradually his senses of reasoning began to disappear as he killed many more to satisfy his unreasonable desire... even the other gods could not control him. He literally became a madman that would dropped on the battlefield of humans and kill every single man. The gods decided to kill him, it was a tough decision, bringing him down was tougher though but he was eventually brought to the ground. He fell and reduced to nothingness as he lost his powers... But do you know what Eschaton did... He did what he had always wanted to do... He forged a sword, with his last strength he forged a sword and died while forging it fortunately the sword was complete and even took on his will."

"what is the point of your story?"

"that sword awaits you beyond this gate..... all your army will die if you pass this gate... You all will be killed by that single crazy sword."

Many of the generals and guild masters laughed out, the Azure Empire army commander reached to the duke, "its better to just ignore his gibberish and continue further sir"

"of course..." he looked at the commander, "I'm just a little disappointed as I thought we have developed some kind of friendship, to think you will waste my time with such a dumb story"

The Forgan empire commander smiled, "... Friends.."

He was immediately dragged to the back.

The Duke looked forward, "take down any man you see"

The whole motivated soldiers shouted out continuously and rushed into the city. But they soon slowly came to an halt.

The whole city was deserted... The duke stopped and exhaled slowly.

"it's a trap"

The Azure soldiers with shields quickly took their defensive mode, surrounded the foot soldiers without shields and covered them awaiting the enemy.

The duke still mounting his flaming tiger looked around, "(what can they have to put up with a hundred thousand soldiers, what trap could they have come up with it)"

It happened while he was still lost in thought,

A lot of soldiers began to choke and go down, the duke tightened his fist, it wasn't an act of trying to hold his anger, it was an endurance act.

The air tightened and a powerful pressure filled the air the weak soldiers found it had to breathe under this atmosphere and some even fell unconscious even the generals and commander fell to their knees. The guild masters held on tight but the members fell, all of them was being threatened by an unknown presence, though some stood still, unaffected. Amidst them Keiji-sama silently smiled trying not to ruin the mood.

Nilus, from above slowly landed in front of them without making a crack on the floor or a single sound as many others would have done. Nilus had a skinny light body, his complexion was white, he always looked calm and hardly changed his facial expression. His long white hair fluttered alongside his red cloak, his silver armor shined extravagantly in the vibrant sun.

The Duke was dumbfounded, he's mouth was very heavy to move, it felt like a large rock in front of him, the very presence of Nilus choked him harder or to be precise it scared him, he literally would like to run away as he felt like he had met an obstacle he could not cross. Not he alone wanted to run, his mount lowered to the floor and began to make a scared puppy sound. The fearless tiger, it was the first time seeing it like this, he could not understand because even the least of mythical beast were not and should not be afraid, the tiger was not scared of the human in front, it had a sharper sense than them all. It cowered in fear of something greater.

Nilus was the first to speak "bring forth commander Vlad" upon his first statement the entire atmosphere turned normal.

The duke unmounted and raised his hand, they immediately brought out all the prisoners and unchained them without him even asking them to, all of the generals ran towards Nilus who only bowed his head to the commander as he passed by him smiling. Nilus faced duke Bryand. "i will not let any of you live"

The Duke exhaled twice as his chest still felt heavy, "you are strong but even numbers can make up for our weaknesses."

"that is meaningless to me..." Nilus said.

The duke drew out his sword and commanded all of them "attaaaackkkk!!"

The soldiers for the first time did not move. They looked to the sky and began to shout out of fear, they drop their swords and began to flee, thousands of soldiers began flee, even the tiger ran away hurriedly.

The wyvern landed on one of the buildings it screamed and began to spew it ice breathe attack, it appeared in form of vapor but freezed everyone it came in contact with and after awhile they shattered into pieces of ice blocks, joining the wyvern an invisible substance began to slay people on its own. Nilus stood there and continued to look at the Duke who had fallen to his knees as he looked at how blood and iced humans flowed around him.
