Chapter 11: Welcome Ceremony
The sunlight was entering the room through the curtains. Grace tried to turn her side But found herself wrapped between the arms of someone. Her head was set besides a firm chest. She raised her head and saw the face of Harrison sleeping peacefully with her on bed. The passionate moments shared by them the previous night made her blush. Harrison told her his part of story which she already knew. Though the happenings occured at that time were made to keep everything secret from the general public. It was still known to the wizards who were a part of that event. She felt a thorn pricking her heart when she thought about the hardships faced by Harrison during these years. He was all alone there in his painful years. His sister got vanished in thin air. All these years,he tried to find clues of her existence. He knew that she was alive as they shared a sibling bond. But where the dark lord has hidden all those clues deep within the realm of his dark magic...
Though Grace felt bitterness in her heart,she could not hate Harrison. The moment she saw him in the evening,she could feel the warmth of the flame of love burning in her heart. Their love grew mature with the time. It was not a one day affair. Their love still stood strong amid the tough times they faced. She snuggled into Harrison's chest to feel the warmth that she was yearning for ages. She looked at his face. Unknowingly her fingers touched his cheeks. She touched his lips. Harrison was awake but he pretended to be sleeping and let Grace play. As her finger started trailing down his chin,the alarm clock started ringing. It made Grace panicked and she pulled her hand but her hand was caught by Harrison.He lifted his arm and pushed the button of the clock. It was long since he slept this peacefully. He lifted Grace hand and made her touch his lips. Grace's face was red like tomato. She hid her head into his chest. Harrison held her chin and with a quick twist,Grace was under him. He pinned down Grace under him and brought his face close to Grace's face. They both could feel each other's breath. Grace could see that the stars twinkling around them as Harrison casted some spell there.
She wanted time to stop so that she could capture this moment all to her heart's satisfaction. But looking at the clock,she bit her lower lip and pushed Harrison on one side. "We have to get ready for the college",said Grace with heavy breathing. Hearing this, Harrison got up. He looked into Grace's eyes. She was draped in the bedsheet like a baby. Harrison came close to her face and kissed on her forehead. This made a tear escape from Grace's eyes. Harrison cupped her face and said," I am, now, all yours and swear on me that I am .not going anywhere now. I am being able to hold my Grace's hand by God's grace... ."
He held his breath and said in a deep and hoarse voice,"Let's get married."
:On hearing these words,Grace felt herself on the ninth cloud. She opened her mouth , but there were no words coming out of her mouth.
It was her dream to marry Harrison and live a simple life. But the fate had other plans in its bag for them.
In fact, Harrison's love for Grace was not less than his love for his sister. He couldn't ensure safety of his sister but he made sure safety of Grace and left her in the care of Stevenson. He knew nothing could happen to her in Stevenson's care.
Harrison was watching Grace's dumbfounded expression . He made Grace got up and pulled her to his chest. He put his face in nape of her neck. He wanted to inhale her scent. It was such a great feeling. It gave him the feeling of salvation which he was yearning for years. Grace also wanted to drown herself in the ocean of his love.
But it was not the time. Da ... da.... duh... So,She composed herself and pushed Harrison towards the bathroom to get ready as it was the first day of the college after vacations and they have to prepare for the welcome ceremony for the new students.
It was a large hall where all students were present. It was the tradition of the college to welcome students after their vacations and start of their new session. There were happy faces as old students were meeting their friends while new students were making new friends. Christie was sitting alongwith the juniors who enrollment for the first time in the college. She was the centre of attraction as she also was eighteen years old while other freshers were just 14-15 years old. She was also feeling somewhat nervous under many penetrating gazes.
She heard a smirk and there came a group of students who were standing behind her. One of them said," Hey , meet our new juniors"
Then one among them pointed to Christie and said," Hey...hey..., But I think she is older enough to sit among juniors." Everyone in the group laughed. The came forward a boy about nineteen years old. He seemed to be the leader of the group. "Hii beauty! I think you are mistaken or Are you babysitting here? Come with me. There are enough babies in our group who need a babysitter.." This made the entire group laugh on Christie.
Christie really felt slapping right on his face but she controlled her temper and said," If you are so much interested in having a babysitter for the jokers around you,then the job is more suitable for you. You look like their papa". There was a loud applause. The boy gritted his teeth and came towards Christie but there came Charles in between them. He stood in front of Christie. "Enough of your nonsense, Rutherford. She is my cousin and I don't wanna see you around her in future". The boy named Rutherford wanted to say something but there was commotion at the entrance of the hall. The elders were there , Silverstone leading the group. Seeing this, everyone went to their relative seats.
The teachers were called elders. They got seated on a high platform with Silverstone in the centre. "Good morning friends! I welcome you all on behalf of our whole faculty. As you know ,we are a family here,more precisely a very big family. You all belong to different cultures and different regions. But our values and ethics are same. You have come to learn and each and every member of the faculty tries to provide best opportunities to you for your development. But it is your duty to maintain integrity and unity of the place." Saying this,he gave a meaningful look at the Rutherford. After that there were brief speeches from other faculty members. Then Students were made to choose their houses. Ironically, Christie had the same house as that of Rutherford , that was "PHOENIX"...
