Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Dream
Laying on my bed, I reached towards the stars that were peeking out through the hole in the roof.
One day, one day I'll take over all the stars. I clenched my fist, but all a thousand-mile journey begins with a step.
I closed my eyes and my thoughts overwhelmed my head.
With my knowledge of the future, the easiest way to earn money was to make a technology company. Afterall, in 2050, people only have just started using plasma energy.
But to start the company, I would need quite a lot of money to start it up. My space manipulation is ideal for assassination missions and the pay is quite good.
For now, I need to train my body and control over kratos at least up to Dominion level so I can handle myself against most of the heirs from noble families.
The kratos within a heretic was unlimited, endless. But the problem was that it was extremely hard to control. The amount of you were able to control and your body can handle determined what realm of power you were in.
The realms of power were:
I – Seraphim
II – Cherubim
III – Thrones
IV – Dominions
V – Virtues
VI – Authorities
VII – Rulers
VIII – Archangels
IX – Fallen
The first 8 names were based on the angel hierarchy, the United Nations created the names based on angels because within the first 8 domains of power, you are still under the power of gods.
Whereas the 9th level was the level where one would truly start to truly become like a god. No-one knew whether or not there were truly gods in the world but after awakening Z chromosomes, people have been able to explore places that were never explored before.
Although in 2080 there are discoveries of ancient temples, temples so ancient that they date back millions of years.
Within the temples, the humans back then worshipped different gods, they wielded very similar powers to Heretics.
They also discovered within the temples, there was one consistent factor. The 'gods' were always fighting against mythical creatures that were covered in black and purple markings. There were constant legends of the 'gods' fighting the beasts and safeguarding the world against the beasts.
But the information was too vague, and scientists have only been able to translate less than 1% of the scriptures that were found. Despite only having less than 1% of the scriptures being translated, humans have discovered momentous discoveries, such as blueprints of spaceships and extremely advanced technology.
This gave birth to a whole new industry, the adventurer industry.
However, it is only in 2080 they will discover the temples and as the previous Arcadian elite forces commander, I naturally knew the temples inside out.
This is one of the major advantages I have against the rest of the world and that company.
For now, exploring the temples will come much later when I have the manpower and ability to.
I need to first gather at least 100 million credits to kickstart my company, and the only quick way to get the money was through assassinations or provide my future technology to companies which is definitely not going to happen.
As my thoughts dragged on, my body slowly fell asleep.
A beautiful white-haired woman with the most seductive figure and red eyes, aged in her late twenties, was dressed in a royal-purple dress and had a gold crown on her head was sitting, reading a book.
"Laura? Is that really you?" I asked in desperation when I recognized her face. I rubbed my eyes repeatedly, checking if my eyes were deceiving me.
Laura looked up from her book and smiled gently at me.
Her lovely smile made my heartbeat faster and my cheeks started to blush unconsciously.
It's been years since I felt this way, in my past life, my love for her was forbidden due to the massive difference in ranks.
She also loved me, and we met in secret, although we weren't allowed to meet each other in public, we were happy with the time we had with each other.
I ran to her with arms outstretched and slight tears in my ears however, instead of the warm feeling that I was expecting, she felt like nothing.
"Laura?" I looked down, expecting to see Laura within my embrace but instead there was nothing but air.
I swivelled my head around in panic and distress, "Laura? Laura? Where are you?" I shouted loudly, hoping to attract her attention.
But I was met with nothing but silence.
*Huff* *Huff*
I sat up panicking and panted heavily.
Tears were starting to well up and my emotions went crazy. I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down.
Realizing that everything that I saw before was a dream, my emotions started to calm down and my breathing returned to a normal rate.
The slight creaking noise of the door hinges and crickets croaking outside slowly calmed me down and returned my state of mind back to peaceful.
Feeling the slight light on my eyes, I opened my eyes to see a beautiful full moon. Seeing the full moon filled my mind with nostalgia of the past.
Laura Uriel, in my previous life she was the queen of Arcadia, the first female to ascend the throne, even if the history of Arcadia was not long. The fact that she managed to become the top existence in a power-hungry country shows a lot about the power she wields.
She was part of the Uriel family of Arcadia, one of the original families who founded Arcadia, they were one of the top existences in the world.
There were 3 royal families of Arcadia, Uriel, Camael and Zadkiel. All of them held immense power, their ancestors were one of the strongest heretics ever to roam the earth. They had reached Rulers power, the highest any human has ever gotten.
On the surface, the royal families were weaker than the noble families but that was because they painted that image on purpose to deceive the commoners. Only people with very high rankings would know about how powerful the royal families were, there strength were incompressible to most people.
The 6 noble families were not the reason why other superpowers didn't touch Arcadia, the 6 noble families were actually pretty weak compared to the superpowers of the world, mainly because they didn't receive any inheritance or such from their ancestors.
But the power of royal families is on a whole different level. They controlled both the economic and power side of the world; only other ancient hidden families of superpowers could contend with them.
Even in 2080, no-one had managed to pass Rulers stage, in fact the highest was only Authorities. Mainly because people started to become more reliant in technology instead of further practicing Z chromosomes.
It wasn't that technology was more powerful that Z chromosomes, it was just that people didn't want to dedicate that much time to Z chromosomes, causing them to stagnate in their abilities.
The power of Archangels was already so powerful that they could wipe a nation with their abilities, that's how powerful Heretics were. But the power of Rulers was only able to eliminate cities, this was already extremely strong, almost essential to a living nuke.
No-one wanted to imagine what the power of fallens were.
*Sigh*
Just thinking about the complicated relationship between Laura and I made me extremely depressed. She was older than me by 9 years.
In fact, she was going to become Queen very soon, if my memory serves me right. In a few weeks actually, and a massive celebration was held.
Her ascension to the throne was mainly because of one reason, she had reached the realm of Authorities at the age of 24. She had one of the highest talents earth had ever seen.
Such talent made others sigh in envy, in my previous life, my talent could also be considered as good if not better than hers. I had reached the ruler stage after all but even with ruler stage, I still died.
That corporation was the cause of Laura's death.
Shaking off all these thoughts, I got out of bed and cleaned my face up and brushed my teeth.
I no longer needed to go to school and the transfer to Arcadia was in 3 days. These 3 days would be celebration days for my mum and me.
We were going to explore every inch of this city and I also need to talk to Rachael.
