Chapter 28: CH 28: Magecraft

Ruler looked at the lines all over his body in fascination. He had never seen anything like that before.

'These are so fucking cool. I have been wanting some cool tattoos but never could decide on what to get.'

As soon as he thought that, the glowing circuits disappeared. Ruler sent a puzzled look towards his Servants as if to ask what was going on. Caster/Anastasia decided to explain it to him.

Caster walked up to Ruler before she started rubbing her hands all over his body and mumbling to herself. After she had done that for over 10 minutes, she finally spoke aloud.

"Dangerous game has upgraded your physique greatly. Not only did it make your physical body 3-4 times stronger, but it also gave you magical circuits. From what I know, your physical abilities should have increased by at least 10 or 20 times using that noble phantasm based on how strong Dr. Jekyll gets.

It is most likely due to your lack of magic circuits from before and the need to create them that had reduced the amount of improvement you have. As for your magic circuits, they are...weird.

They are number only 20 which is very average for magi so not too many or too little. Their quality is also high yet low at the same time. The amount of magical energy they can carry at once is very small compared to most magi and the number of things they can do at once with that energy is also very small being only 2. The number of magecraft you can use easily is very small.

While smaller than those of most magi, your circuits have extraordinary rotational speed, structural durability, quality of output, and fuel efficiency. I would say that any beginner spells without elemental additions would be monstrous under your use.

The best comparison I could use is that your magic circuits are highly specialized to the point where they have become almost useless to use them for anything else. Like using a cursed spear to shave your face. While possible, it would be a waste of its potential and also difficult."

Ruler nodded at her words. While he could not understand them fully, he got the gist: you're a one or two-trick pony. Don't try to surpass that.

Ruler and Caster then began their first lesson in magecraft and what exactly he would be capable of doing in the future. After 3 days of non-stop training, it was finally time for Ruler's first mission. Ruler learned the basics of two spells as well as a pseudo-Servant skill.

He learned what was basically a magic bullet but was called, Prana shot. It was a concentrated ball of magical energy that was shot at a high speed and fast rotation for maximum destructive capabilities. The bullets came out of a floating, energy construct that formed behind Ruler's back. The constructs resembled neon blue lotuses.

With only 3 days of practice, Ruler was already able to get it to the level where it could knock someone out if it hit someone although its lethal capabilities and Ruler's aim needed to be improved.

The second spell he learned was reinforcement. It did exactly as the name implied. It allowed Ruler to use prana to increase his physical abilities as well as those of items that the user held. Such as a mystic code he used when borrowing from a Servant or a knife he got from the Neo.

Ruler was able to reinforce only a single finger if he concentrated and it only increased the strength by one time. At the moment, it was useless for Ruler and would take at least a few months before he would be able to use it in battle. As for using tools, Ruler did not even wish to think about it.

The last spell was a wild and reckless combination of the previous two. Caster even reprimanded Ruler when he used it and almost killed himself. It took a large amount of effort from Assassin to fix him up. But after he was healed, Caster had to admit the potential that the last spell had as it resembled the Servant skill, Mana Burst.

Ruler would focus his prana into his limb or finger with reinforcement before trying to fire it like he did with Prana Shot. He wanted to use it because he felt as if using prana shot through constructs was too difficult. The end result was a massive burst of magical energy that Ruler was not prepared for.

Caster later told him that he would be able to use prana shot with his fingers or other body parts after he mastered using the constructs. As for his mana burst skill, Caster said to not even think about using it unless she gave him specific permission. Ruler did not think it was excessive. She was the magecraft expert.

Ruler made his way out of the room and entered the conference room. It was already occupied with the 3 other recruits he would work together with on their mission.

There was Dart, Neon, and Ember. Dart was the same person he fought on his second day at the base. He could poison others through touch but could also unleash a poisonous mist from his mouth.

Neon was a young man in his 20s who could make constructs made of light based on will power. Ruler had battled him a few times and found fighting against the man annoying. He knew he could not beat him so he would constantly create a variety of obstacles to slow Ruler down instead of actually fighting him.

Ember was the only female on the newer members. She was in her late teens. Ember had the ability to absorb, control and redirect smoke, fire, and embers. She was a jack of all trades who was able to best Ruler many times.

The group was waiting for the Warclans teleporter to send them on their first mission. Ruler went to the table to pick up the file with the information on their target. He had read it 5 times before but wanted to ensure he did not miss anything.
