Chapter 56: First Dance

Vaidehi looked away, when she saw Damien and Maria dance in slow beat in a beautiful sync.
She gulped a lump that formed her throats ,when she saw the way Maria and Damien held each other.
Maria's eyes suddenly fell on Vaidehi and she let out a smirk and pulled Damien closer.
The song softly played in the background while all the couple danced in sync.
Vaidehi tried not to look toward Damien's way , but it was as if she was pulled by some kind of magnetic force that pulled her toward him.
What kind of sorcery is this! That freaking hot chipmunk needs to stop messing with her head! She thought and determined not to look his way.
But well, it is her fate we are talking about. If it was normal, it wouldn't have been defined as Vaidehi's life because God was sipping tea while creating her life and thought it would be fun to add loads and loads of trouble to it.
And just like that she tripped and fell on David ,whose back was facing Damien who held Marie.
So long short story-they all fell down.
David groaned when he felt Maia's heels poking his butt.
And Vaidehi let out a groan when she magically found herself in the arms of a demon aka Damien.
Before she could say something sarcastic, she felt Damien's heated gaze on her.
"You were ignoring me." He said in his oh-so-husky voice.
"Well no shit Sherlock!" She said and rolled her eyes , totally unaware that there were more than one hundred people watching them and whispering among themself.
"You were so lost-" Before he could complete his sentence he was cut off by a loud annoying scream.
"Get off me you disgusting red ant!" Maria screamed and pushed David out of her way before getting up.
Realising their position and situation, both of them got up and looked around awkwardly.
Maria glared at Vaidehi and screamed at her, " YOU DON'T HAVE EYE! YOU HAVE EMBARRASSED ME IN FRONT OF SO MANY PEOPLE!YOU DISGUSTING EMPLOYEE!"
"Watch you tone Miss. Watson, just because she is an employee that doesn't give you the right to behave in this way with her!" Damien said in a warning tone.
Vaidehi looked down in shame and embarrassment . Tears blurred her vision as she looked down.
"But Damien-"
"No, it was just a mistake and we all make mistakes! And it's not Damien but Mr. Ryder for you!" He said and with an end-of-discussion look.
Maria nodded before stomping her foot and walking away.
Damien turned his head and before he could ask Vaidehi if she was okay, he was greeted with a sight of David holding Vaidehi's shoulder and saying sweet nothing to her in a very soft voice.
Damien clenched his jaw and looked away.
His thought of murdering David came to an end when he heard the sound of wine glass being clinked.
He saw Ashton along with Allyon stage and Ashton was giving him a look that clearly says get-your-ass-here-before-I-drag-you.
He fisted his hand and walked toward the small stage.
"So ladies and gentleman, I am here to announce very happy news to you all." Ashton began his speech in a very dramatic way."
"So as you all know that we have the honor to collaborate with ShineIn this year again, which is now a big hit in the market, ladies and gentleman!" He said which made sound claps and cheers resonate all around the room.
"Now I would like to request Mr. Ryder and Miss . Watson to say something." He said and handed over the mic to Maria.
Maria began her long ass speech almost boring everyone to death. Some people even yawned and were ready to fall asleep on the table itself.
Then it was Damien's turn, and him being him with an i-don't-like-to-talk-much attitude said only two words, that is - thank you, before passing the mic to Ashton as hurriedly got down from the stage.

Party was in full swing but Damien felt disturb for some reason. He excused himself and came out to get fresh air when he was distrubed by his phone ring.
He answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"Tsk ,tsk, still couldn't figure out who I am? You really need to up your game, Ryder!" A mysterious voice said from the other end.
"Who is this? If this is some kind of a joke then let me warn you, you are not talking with the right person.
The voice laughed in a very dark way, "Don't worry Ryder your secret will be sent to you soon."
With that the caller cut the call.
He ranked his hand through his hair and let out a frustrated sigh.
He thought of ditching the party and leaving home, so he went inside to inform Aston, but the sight he saw before him was enough to unleash the demon in him. He saw that David was dancing Vaidehi again.
This made all hell break loose, he went toward the bar and drowned himself in alcohol.

Vaidehi didn't want to dance again but David has insisted that they should dance one last time and being the angel that she is- she couldn't say no.
David was telling her something, but her mind was filled with the thought of a certain someone with onyx eyes.
Suddenly, during the dancing she was pulled toward a hard yet soft musculin chest. She didn't need to look up to check who it was, as the cologne was enough to identify that man.

She raised her head to look at him. Their eyes meet.
Brown against onyx.
She could she some sadness in his eyes, it was like a maze of emotions and she was -lost,
In him.

As he twirled her and pulled her closer, she could smell alcohol from him.
She scrunched her nose and looked down.
"Please hold me." His voice was a faint whisper and he pulled her closer and hid his face in the crook of her neck.
Vaidehi shivered as his hot breath fanned her neck ,but the moment felt vulnerable.
She raised her head to look at him but he acted like a stubborn child by hiding his face in the crook of her neck.
She sighed and pulled him closer and slowly swayed to the soft music.
